  1. Damn Straight, but that shot is from when the P.O. owned it. Now, it sports the clip ons again, and I put the pegs back up where they belong. Also, the black paint is very forgiving
  2. Ratch, ol' boy, I hate to be the one who softens yer terra firma of reality, but the light has got to be shined in the deepest corners to chase out the cockroaches of denial! Last week, a gentleman, who admitted he knew "almost nothing about bikes" chased me down in a parking lot to tell me he thought my bike had one of the most beautiful sounds he had heard coming down the road. Then he said that my bike looked like a "HAYABUSA KILLER", which I assured him it was. If even the uninitiated can recognize this, (albeit a different model by the same manufacturer) the truth is truly irrefutable. THE MYTH IS NOW BUSTED. P.S...I still find the time I overheard my bike refered to as "Jap Crap" as much funnier!..."Yeah, I rode the new dresser. It's parked next to that JAP CRAP out there."...The only bikes there were me, and four HD's...
  3. Try the FAQ's section, all will be revealed
  4. Thanks, taken at the Mindoro Cut, a little north of Lacrosse. Avoided all "slab" in favor of back roads, 772 miles of great riding in 24 3/4 hours. Hit the MG Elkader Rally (10:00 pm and the streets were empty. I envisioned there would be crazed bands of MG marauders laying the villages to waste. Apparently thats those "other" V twin guys...), did Pikes Peak observation deck for the sunrise. Man, I love these bikes!
  5. I keep saying I'll buy a UJM, but can NEVER actually bring myself to do it...
  6. Searched, found nothing applicable. So I figured I'd start a new thread. The manual lists a service interval for the front forks, but none for the rear shock. Why?

    MPG...

Rode 772 miles in just under 25 hours, not much highway riding, more just looking for great roads and little to no traffic. Used 20.58 gallons of premium for an average of 37.5 mpg. I have consistently gotten this out riding or the much more common daily commute, and no thought as to "gas conservation" is practiced. The orange light is also consistent, coming on at about 175 miles+/- after a fill. Did one stretch of 205 miles and put in 4.48 gallons.
  8. WOT!!! Why you, snot nosed, namby pamby, silly, insignificant little snivelling wanker!!! You sicken me!!! You're about the poorest excuse for a sss...eh?.....Excuse me?...Oh, sorry, this is "Abuse". Yes, right then. Martin from "Contradictions" is one door down, yes. Thank you, have a nice day! Next please...
  9. Speed, be it air or other, is a function of time. Without an accurate method of tracking time, how do you personally calculate the airspeed of a swallow, be it laden or unladen???
  10. Welcome to the site, great looking bike. Don't feel TOO bad about riding it, that's what they're for!!!
  11. Thanks, Fast By Ferracci oval c/f slip ons with the cross over. They look great (so far), sound real deep and roarty, and are child safe, as I recently discovered. It seems c/f doesn't get very hot, and cools super fast to boot. I touched one the other day, right after shutting the bike down from a long ride, just to see. Now, their cost is justifyable, "But Honey, I only bought them for the kids safety..."
  12. Also, was'nt one of the Churches key figures in the Inquisition named "Torque-que-a Moto"? (Sorry, could'nt help it...No Porters and Norwegian Beaver cheese for naughty boys then!!!)
  13. "So, old woman...you think you're made of tougher stuff???...Bring her...The Comfy Chair!!!" ...In this situation, we could just use The dreaded Stock Seat, would have some of you candied ass poofs broken and spillin' yer guts in less than 208 kilometers!
  14. I would never say you can have oil that's too fresh, but... MG's oil/filter change interval is "every 6,000 miles" with the AGIP full synth per the manual. I do oil every 5,000 and a new filter every other oil change. It's less work and $$$ and top shelf oil and a good filter (which you are using )are up to the task. On the other hand, you sure aren't doing anything harm showin'er the LOVE either. Some people say I'm "obsessed"...I see it more as Focused...
  15. Amen to that, Brother! (Pardon the artistic liberty taken with the "model exchange" in the paraphrasing of your quote )
  16. I put a LED Voltage Monitor from Signal Dynamics on mine. It's easy to install and very unobtrusive. It constantly tells you what charging rate is, including overcharging and not charging and I feel is great insurance against being electrically dead on the road unexpectedly. All for the price of a decent bottle of red...
  17. I don't remember ever having the gasket come off any other filter I've used, bike or car. I've had it happen with both UFI's I've changed. No big deal as long as you keep your eyes open for it though...
  18. Do a search on the topic. I think Greg Field did a whole thread on servicing your speedo, complete with pictures. It shouldn't be too hard to find
  19. Hey Nanosec, There are two things I would do first. Your idle speed is a bit low for my tastes. An idle speed of 1200 rpm+/- would be better as you need oil to get to the top end when the bike is just idling, like at a light. Also, the low idle, when combined with tight valve settings, creates exactly what you are describing. I think MG manual suggests intake at .002" and exhaust at .004", too tight. Unless you know they aren't set to those numbers, I would go with .006" and .008". "Tapping tappets are happy tappets." Alot of folks here make those changes and really start to smile their asses off. Also, don't lug these bikes running at 2000-3000 rpm! These bikes like to run over 4000 rpm on the road, and really come alive above 5500-6000, and will run all day like this. I find a very comfortable cruising speed is usually about 4500-5000 rpm. You will be rewarded with these things done, I'm guessing... Good luck, S.H.
