  1. The Allen head bolt in purple is the one you want lubricated well . When I did my rigging , I got a l.h. threaded rod end and a stud that had l.h. and r.h. threads so I could adjust the shift lever height. A great improvement. I think I got this stuff from Midwest Controls ?

  2. The bolt that acts as a pivot might be rusted in the bore of the shifter. The nut on the end is a locknut and the frame is threaded holding the shifter in place . Back off the nut a couple of turns and back off the bolt one revolution . If the shifter tries to move with the bolt it is rusted in place . Remove the bolt and lubricate everything and reinstall . Test it and see if it is better.

  3. The Rolling stones ; GREAT , the thing tat made them so good was , their lousy playing and almost out of tune music . Mick's voice was pathetic.  You think they were a garage band playing in front of their neighbors for the first time .

Yes they got a little wholesome for a while but I thank the Rock n Roll gods they got back to where they should be . Get Yer Yaya's Out. MMMMMM. As it should be , loud and lousy !

On second thought , yeah I would pay $500 maybe $600 if they would come over but they would have to start playing about 3 in (I take tea at three) the afternoon !

  4. Well , the facts are the facts. Today's gasoline has the shelf life of a gallon of milk.

You need to go and see why 6 emergency generators throughout the county would not start/run . Problem #1 a vendor put bio-diesel in all of them. Not his fault , it was during a "go green" phase of life. Problem #2 and the people "in charge" didn't think it was important to program them to start/run on a weekly basis to verify operation. I spent 40 man hours to find all this out .

Lessons learned  . Never use bio-diesel unless you are burning a dozer pile. People will tell you just enough to mislead/ make that just enough for you to make poor decisions .

I am leaving out the bad part of the story because it smokes me too much to tell .

Im not looking to replace the pins at the moment, just the very tatty nuts with something better/lighter.

The only fastener you are going to replace this with is another jam nut from M/G OR if you are a machinist and want to make one , you can go that route.

Can anybody confirm what size thread is on the short stub axles that thread into the 'porkchops' and then into the swingarm bearings?

My current thinking is M20 x 1.0 fine

If it matters , what is the reason you are wanting to know about the different size pivot pins ?

  7. Our hometown (Barlow) had a solar eclipse in 2017 and 2024 . It was in a pathway for both eclipses . This year's eclipse was spectacular v the one in 2017.  I did remember where my Pink Floyd CD was and went back home , retrieved it and put in to play when the big show was taking place . Incredible as it seems , it was the first time hearing it w/o the influence of illegal substances .... hmmmm .

The sky was DARK whereas the earlier eclipse turned everything hazy like someone was burning wheat fields . There were people ALL over the place around here from Oregon , Canada , etc.  I thought The Beatles had reunited !
