  1. In Ky there are all kinds of rules/limits on annual mileage / operating in parades , just a bunch of things to dissuade you from considering a vintage plate.
  2. Harper's has the best inventory but they mark the prices up above list price . I would try Google to see how many dealers there are in a 250 mile radius and go from there.
  3. Moto Guzzi prices on the two shift parts are around $100 . Take your stuff to a machinist and get their opinion . You may want to go together w/new stuff
  4. I would get prices and availability on these two parts. If these are a crazy #s , I would grind a gap in the clamping area and tighten it down to verify it will hold and go back together . You can (after you get finished) drill and pin it w/a roll pin to keep it from slipping .
  5. IF this shifter assy. is on the bike and is working condition, move the shift lever up and down and verify the foot lever and the lever inside the frame have no slack and this is tight . Morse = ? are you referring to the splines ? These 0-rings are nothing more than dust shields to keep out "bad stuff" and the wave washer or spring keeps the side (in & out) motion to a minimum . IDK how thick this frame tube is where the shift shaft goes through. I drilled / tapped the shift lever (not the frame) on the red frame for a grease fitting to keep the shift lever happy. You will have to see what you have to work with and decide if you can do this .
  6. When you have this back together , are you using the pinch bolt 10 to clamp the gearchange lever to the 12 shaft of the shift lever ? This is what holds these two components together and should keep them from sliding apart. Also , when you finish this project , you can drill / tap for a grease fitting on the bike frame where this lever pivots and be done w/any future problems.
  7. Mine was a "mail order" bike. I knew I was gonna love it. I can't even remember how I located it ?
  8. The clamp set-up Phil has looks pretty good . i use a conventional high pressure fuel injection hose clamp that covers the entire circumference of the hose and doesn't let the worm gear "threads" dig into the hose . Also buy a good (long) length of fuel injection hose. It will give pressure rating on the length of hose. Gates is the best , NAPA , then you need to be careful. Anyone else on brand recommendation ? This fuel line on the bike is approximately 20-25 yrs old . Remember this having the tank off. Also , when you have anything off under the tank , make sure nothing is going to touch , rub or damage ANYTHING else when you are going back together. Also , I use a small amount of Sil-Glide when assembling hoses to make them easy to go together and come apart. The two vents under the tank use a tee to make one hose to vent down & out of the way .
  9. Pozidriv has been around for a LONG time . Phillips , Reed & Prince , Pozidriv , Tri-wing and JIS (Japanese Phillips) and maybe more are all modifications of the original Phillips head pattern. The Resistorx , I think is a tamperproof Torx. You see them around bathroom stalls . There is a pin in the center of the Torx "hole" . Oh , things change all the time . A few years ago Torx Plus came out . It looks like a stripped Torx bit. By now IDK if there is something newer or not ? Trust me , they will change something EVERY 5-10 years.
  10. Your (emotion) expression will be the same as Jaap's
  11. Griso is one of the most righteous bikes of all time
  12. Going back to 1995 . Just get a divorce in Ky. where the ex keeps EVERYTHING . she keeps your childhood pics , mementos , everything. You get your truck and clothes . I was talking to a buddy and he was telling me about he couldn't find his H.S. football uniform when he "left" . She told him later she threw it all out in the backyard ,poured gas on it and burned it. I don't have to tell you , some women in Ky are mean.
  13. I can be philosophical telling someone else to throw stuff away .
  14. There was this disturbed woman that lived in our county and this was when the C.B. radio was at it's zenith . She was using her van to "meet n treat" truck driver's in what seemed like a 7/24 operation. Her handle was "Cotton Candy" and her Chevy van was nicknamed her "wrastle castle" !
  15. I bought these primarily for the nuts. I have pans of standard / metric nuts and I like to go the easy and most accurate way of doing this . I was using bolts to measure thread pitch , etc. of ea. nut
  16. this has both standard/metric. Looks pretty good. I just purchased the style you posted pics of because they are everywhere around here !
  17. All of these older cars reminds me of an interview of Paul McCartney . He was describing Ringo mentioning that he drove a Zephyr Zodiac , as though it were the Batmobile .
  18. No , I ended up buying them at The Co-op Farm Store out here in the next town. They were from $45-70 each. Fastenal sells them and any hardware store can get them for you.
  19. Exactly ! I thought I was being feminine by doing this . After 10 mins , NO way . I had to shop around a couple of weeks to save about $40 on these but they are worth it. BTW , I have accumulated a lot of stuff and I am trying to make sure about the thread sizes . If anyone wants to blow some $ , this is a good investment.
  20. Did these Volvos have an option like Borat was asking about at the Cadillac dealership ?
  21. This is a warning for anyone who uses "torque tables" and torque wrenches . This was 25+ years ago and there were some dumb-dumbs that pulled the threads out of a small block Chevy main caps using the wrong torque value or just didn't know what they were doing or both. Do think about the application , bolt size , thread pitch , fastener material , dry or oiled threads , etc. BE CAREFUL . There are no unnecessary parts on a bike and you don't want anything falling off. With that being said , I can humbly say no one has cross threaded , twisted off , mucked up things any more than I have . I will challenge anyone past , present and future on this claim. I've been sorting bolts / nuts the past couple of weeks and finally bought these two metric / standard thread size boards. I would never buy them because of price and vanity. Now I can't see doing it w/o them.
  22. Amen to that !
