  1. As far as i know the position is the same...i lowered the adapters to get the tank lower. Not easy though, because then the breather pipe on top of the frame has to be modified also. nice project
  2. ..one whole day spend on constructing/fitting the rear light
  3. Thanks..just have plenty of free time when im on leave so i can work on the thing 12 hours a day.. Its not really working though..just walking around it looking at it and trying to do everything just like i really want it... I really like the look from behind...just tire and cylinders.. Now im changing the inlet manifolds..alll the guzzi specials you see on the internet have beautifull lines.. but one thing lets them down..the carbs. They are horizontal..or even worse hanging down.so we are giving them a few degrees upwards..that really makes a huge difference..they wil follow the lines of the tank and seat unit now... wait and see...
  4. The guzzi is in progress now.. aka bits.. The injection system is so complicated..not on the technical side but the amount of wires,hoses,relays,pump,filter,sensors..just too much She ran fine with the injection on it but i believe that a guzzi engine(especially the 4v) should be bare.. so i decided just for the looks .to remove the complete system.. still dont regret it. now installing a Sachse ignition unit to get it going again with the carbs, later on that wil be replaced by a different unit Sachse
  5. Work on the guzzi has started again..playing around with different headlights and seats.. The Guzzi is stripped bare..now doing the carb/ignition conversion and getting rid of all redundant stuff now..wires hoses..the lot.
  6. Interesting...but for sure im not going to put the same system on my bikes for sure.. Im used on a slipper clutch on my track bike and my Guzzi is now equipped with some radial brembo's... down shifting under braking is a challenging exercise already on the guzzi and i dont need some rear brake with that at all.. Maybe with the brakes they had in those days it was a good idea but now im not very sure of that..
  7. Hmmm..should be interesting..going into a corner full on the brakes..downshifting.. no slipper clutch..and your rear brake is braking also...
  8. I cant find the back brake pedal or lever..how does it work?
  9. Here is some more info on the bike Daytona special The bike came with that seat unit on it,it will have to go together with the subframe replaced by some thing more sleeker. Now im replacing the front end for ohlins, injection system for 42 flatslide carb's,swingarm for a aluminium one..ect ect we start again on the bike next week and wil keep u posted on the other topic. Compared to my (tuned)Aprilia track bike the bike is slow,no revs,no power..but thats not importand.. its a Guzzi
  10. This was a Daytona once..now its work in progress Its into pieces now because im fitting a Ohlins radial front end from a RSV Factory now
  11. I know them, the front fork modifications and rear shock is from them on my F4. Not cheap but very good quality, reccomended
  12. I changed from 18 to 17 inch also but when we welded the new headstock back on at 24 degrees we lowered it by 10mm. Still the balance doesn't feel right,if i do a track day on my RSV factory track bike and straight after that take the guzzi for a ride i feel that the centere of gravity is way to low on the guzzi. I'm experimenting now with different ride heights by creating different mounting plates on the top shock mount(the Daytona has different mounting points compared to a 1100 sport) ive raised the rear by 5mm measured at the shock mount and that made it feel a bit better..but i cant go much higher because of the shaft drive But by creating a concentric mounting point you can raise the ride height but also the angle of the shock ..wich will make a huge diference. Now ive raised the front by 10mm just to raise the complete bike and its improving the feel of the bike for sure.. The WP has to go at some point to be replaced by some modern stuff because im not that impressed with it,maybe this winter..the front Aprilia RSV fork will be changed to a MV Agusta F4 front end..not that its a better fork but i think it will look amazing together with the big 4v engine.
  13. Merci, it will be something special for sure.. The project will be on hold for a couple of weeks because i will have to go to work again(expat) but as usual i will order a load of stuff so when i come back i have plenty to do.. The seat unit has arrived. its tiny from a 125gp bike.. when I'm back we will do the rearsubframe and seat unit+the carb conversion in one go. Most likely the rear shock mount will be converted into concentric item so i can change the length and hight of the schock mount..to play around with it,and it looks the dog's danglers obviously.. After that the alu swing arm.. JC good idea i will shop around a bit for the electrical stuff.. the moto spezial thing looks a bit flimsy indeed.
  14. Thats no problem, you can touch the negative and the postive from a 12v battery with your bare hands no problem..you wont feel a thing.
  15. Thanks for the settings. Ive just ordered the choke also because it came without choke valves and a set of bell mouth's 60mm long, i will use 1100sport intake rubbers as they fit perfect on the carb and existing inlet manifold. The ecu uses the tps to adjust the ignition timing so i presume that your bike is running on some sort of limp home fixed program now,but if it runs fine why bother. HTM in Germany told me that they could modify the existing P8 system for sparks only(and still have that huge box on the bike),or i will go for this system. carmo ignition Then i could make copy of the existing ignition map from the P8 and program it into the carmo so we have a base setting, maybe i will put a small tps on one of the carbs so the carmo can use that info to adjust it. We want i minimalistic bike so as much as possible wires and boxes will have to go, for example the starter button will be directly fitted on the starter motor.
  16. Hi John.. well the dyno guy who is doing the setting up told me to go for 42..i was thinking about 45 myself aswell but he said it would be more than okay. Im really curious about your conversion especially what type of ignition that you are using. I have several options Fully programble or modifing the existing weber unit just for sparks.. Im going to use a Tomaselli dual cable throttle grip, not the racing type because i thought that the action would be too heavy so i settled for this one in black
  17. Another small update, the home made exhaust system is finished... Making a badass sound for sure.. the mufflers have a 2inch bore
  18. Okay time for a small update, yesterday i fitted the wheel and took her for a quick spin(until it started raining so i could only try it for 15 miles orso ) Its a huge improvement for sure, together with some sticky tires an lighter rear wheel the bike feels transformed. Next step are the exhausts they will arrive at the end of the week and also ditch the injection system, for a set of Mikuni HSR42 carbs. It will take some dynotime for sure to get them right but im not too worried that we cant get the right setup. When all that is finished then we will start on the seat unit and subframe.
  19. ............Paul send me a message that he passed away,i did not know it.. sorry about that.
  20. Im not concerned about it at all...its my first guzzi and the daytona did not have a cush drive to begin with so as long as i wont drive one with a cush drive im fine He will be able to make a cush drive if you want it im sure of it.
  21. yeah, its hand welded . . Im working on the shetlands now but as soon as im back home again i will weigh the wheel and keep you updated about the project. . Especially the seat unit and sub frame will something different. .
  22. Dont know really. . But andre the guy who welded and did the machining. And he is a master in his trade. . . said that he would prefer to try it out on a damaged oz wheel instead of a good one . . We talked about it because i also have a set of oz ones. . But we went for the brembo one because it was a experiment and we die not know for sure that it would all work out like it did. . Im searching for a oz rear wheel so we will try it for sure
