Been a bit naughty enquiring about the cost but thought 70% increase so interesting it had to be done - I'm guessing it might be reasonably easy to adapt to a V11!! In Sterling the price works out to be £5675 - this is cheap if comparasion on a £/hp basis, no? Performing all the head work, valve train gear, cams, lightened flywheel, exhaust system, lighter & stronger conrods, hi-comp pistons and custom ecu mapping etc., would cost substantially more and with all that may not even come close to the huge 70% increase. Or would that be wrong? David, the Dacar MotorSport Europe Sales Manager emailed the following: For sure questions and enquiries are for free!! :-) The main characteristics of the kit are: - auto installation at home - no modifications of the original bike (mechanical or electronical) - the kit completed of all: stainless steel exaust and intake manifolds, additional injectors, additional oil pump (for turbines), wastegate valve, exaust till the terminal, additional lambda sensor, intercoolers, additional ECU, new sparks. - the turbo kit gives to the bike more power but quite the same torque not to damage the transmission; the power curve is constant but not vertical. - especially with the bike at full load you can use the sixth gear al low speed and use the bike as a scooter; during the summer in altitude the engine is always full without poor intake power holes. The kit cost is 6.612 + shipping cost. Kind regards, Davide Davide Casetti Sales Manager Dacar MotorSport Europe

Cheap? Double the money of a Fat-Duc at 80 bucks! Does it do anything more or extra? If it does, then yes by all means. But does it? And is it plug & play? Got a sneaking suspicion this is'nt. I plugged a Fat-Duc into my Scura R and all I can affirm it richened up the fuel enough, on steady throttle under 4000rpm, to cure or diminish - depending how far you turn the setting, the occasional jerk/stumble/cough it would do after freeing up its nostrils with a Sprint Competition filter and M4 mufflers. No cutting wires and does what it says on the box. Both are cheapies - but plug & play cheapies tip it for me everytime. Then again, I try and fill up on BP Ultimate now instead of Shell Optimax. Even fuel can affect it sufficiently in my experience!

Well... I'm reporting back. But, did'nt finish my homework - got kinda sidetracked. Couple of years ago, I'd never even seen a V11 before being surprised at just how small the Scura R appeared being wheeled off van onto driveway. Later, rode down South of Biarritz in France for swim in the Atlantic before official start of our "Ocean to Sea" zig-zag blast thru the Pyrenees before symbolic swim in the Med to end fortnight trip before mad Peage/toll-roads dash back to Blighty - with a drunken plan formed to ride the Sahara desert... So, in March this year bought Quota 1100es in Germany (to protect the Scura R, darl') and in April was riding South through Morocco in search of desert sands. No knowledge - no tools, but full of joy. The two are parked side by side inside but when the lights go down, I have no idea what sort of fornication these things get up to... but these things breed! So friends - I'm here to report I've done gone and done it again, unridden, unseen. 'Cos two weeks ago not one, but two more little buggers got wheeled onto the drive at 9pm at night! A two owner, 18000 mile 'lil silvery-blue '81 V50 Monza followed by a white/red-frame '85 V65 TT with 14000 miles on the clock. Ummm, so does mean I've got the guzzi-rabies virus? When does the foaming start? Cheers! ScuRoo Scura R Quota 1100es V50 Monza V65 TT ...always wanted to do that - feels good too. -
Just letting you know I enjoy your reports Orson. However, the best "WOW" curiosity pic for me of the sights available at Mandello was this one...

Watch this & imagine the ride... Say fella's. This development is exciting - piston's, shaft-drive - thrusting Moto Guzzi light years forward. Modern packaging of old-school proven elements - but even better than Guzzi's W103 3-cylinder motor. Would you ride tomorrow?

Granda already? You look young enough to be his Da! Hair gives it away I 'spose... -
Yeah baby! C'mon, ya gotta love that sound - just imagine replacing those stock cans for some aural-releasing M4's etc! Always thought this should have been the next evolutionary step for GUZZI! Am I gunna buy a Motus as is? Nope. What needs to be done for me to buy? Shaft it. SOLD.

...so maybe dlaing was the little runt after all! Ratchethack gets chucked off - and dlaing then pisses off 'cos he decided it was not as much fun after all with 'ol Ratch gone. Bit rich of the whinging little prick don'tcha think? The protagonist's hand-bagging each other may have got a bit much at times - but at least there was something to read when you visited! Often I swing by from time to time & the post's have'nt changed! WTF is that all about? And you still say you don't want Ratch back? Listen, forum's are a unique mix of learning, enlightenment, my willy's bigger than your willy, and my Dad's bigger than your dad, bullshitting entertaining coloseum - kinda like what mates do really! C'mon guy's, we're supposed to be guzzi brothers! Some of my best memories are the fights I had with my own flesh & blood... (R.I.P.) I say, let's see whether he'd bury the hatchet and join the faaaaaaamily once again. We're bigger than that are'nt we? Betcha dlaing will turn up soon after too.... -

Came too late on the scene - so only got to know him by proxy... But, but... I sure miss that RatchetHack. Aah, to suckle on those vinegar tits & to feel the swipe of his gnarly paw - I love that ol' codger! Bring him back Jaap! -
Anyone Interested In Ordering Mike Rich Pistons With Me?
ScuRoo replied to Mike Stewart's topic in Technical Topics
These pistons were developed by Mike Rich primarily to do away with any 'ping' Bjor - which made the dual-plug mod simply redundant in acheiving that. I'm certainly happy going this simple path, but not in any dual-plugging complexity. Improving the bikes intrinsic qualities is fine for me - but I'd probably sell my bike if I'm trying to create something more than the sum of its parts. -
Hey, don't you get it? We're his fwriends, he's 'aving a beer, remembrin' his '66 romanticized childhood - and he wants to talk...

I've got M5 Sportec's as in this pic. Absolute confidence, grip, feedback! Could'nt be happier...

I struggle to get things I glue to stick - so DIY soldering electrical thingymejigs, just thinking about it, scares the living crap outta me! If only Kiwi Roy adopted me! Roughly how much having it ready made?

IMHO, Guzzi's 90 degree V-twin with shaftdrive layout is what inherently makes Guzzi a Guzzi... Water evolution - hell, even adding a couple of cylinders - ala shaft-drive Motus, would suit the marque. If not 911-type refining, then explore completely new radical territory! Nembo, Horex, Christini ilk, just try to avoid trad chain-drive...
