  1. Indeed - we have thawing already. The first 5cm are gone now. 5 of 7 or 8, and the engine is still apart Man, I'm so nervous! hubert My bike just back from the shop after full service and tune . . . sounds purrrrrrfect. Roads still covered in ice so really frustrated I cannot get out there. must wait, must wait, must wait. . . going stir crazy
  2. Very nice but why all the text on the tank ? Is that required in the States ? Are you expected to revise at traffic lights ? More importantly can you pull it all off and leave the paint in place ?
  3. Bike of my dreams, it's picture was on my bedroom wall throughout my teens. I have a V11 because it is the closest I can get to the original Le Mans whilst kids, mortgage, high maintenance wife etc demand all my spare cash. One day I will have one . . . whoever is current custodian of my future bike please take care of it !!
  4. Yep, says they are closed Friday 5th Nov but open as usual on Saturday ????
  5. I have stock mirrors on extender blocks meant for a fazer 600 (I also have standard clip-ons). They push the mirrors out and forwards and I can now see past my elbows and by some miracle all blurring due to vibration has disappeared. I will take a photo and post it here when I find the camera. Can't find the camera (will have to empty the toy box) but there are tons on Ebay for about £12 - search for mirror extenders. Make sure you get the right size; I am fairly sure mine were for a Yamaha FZ6 but then again I stole them from my brother's garage.

  7. looks like a monster with a broken back. Like those twin cans though.
  8. Blimey. Can only be a matter of time before Derri boots are being worn by Hollwood A listers. I will have to retrieve my Belstaff from the compost heap. Not sure about the skirt bit though - do you have to ride side-saddle ?
  9. check this out. I could be wrong but is that not a hoover installed in there as an engine ? http://www.coroflot.com/public/individual_file.asp?from_url=true&individual_id=323157&portfolio_id=3829591&
  10. Yep it is much easier to count wildlife if you shoot it first. Stops them moving about.
  11. Love the crash helmet. I want to see the next couple of frames when he lands. Go to hurt.
  12. Had a similar noise but discovered it was my new keyring and garage keys vibrating around the ignition. Had earplugs in so couldn't really focus on where it was from at first . . . but certainly made a 'wizzzzz' noise when I accelerated !! Probably the cheapest fix so far. If you need any more crap advice be sure to let me know.
  13. Try this one. Takes family tent, BBQ and three push-bikes.
  14. Try the caol ila before giving up on it, it is very smooth and like drinking sherry . . . then again just drink sherry, it is much cheaper ! I recently dropped my bike off at the dealers as it was at a service interval and i like to keep the service history up to date. Told him it was stuck in first and we both agreed pawl spring was the culprit. Thought they might as well do it as I am very busy at work. Just came home to a garbled phone message saying that he thinks it might be an 'engine out job' costing several hundred. Can't get back to him as the shop shop is shut. aaaaaaaaargh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where is that bottle ???
  15. Yep, sometimes it is the only answer - a large one or three of Islay's finest. Excellent choice. If this is your thing you should try the 18 year old Caol ila. I would highly recommend it but beware - highly addictive. Cheers.
  16. Having suffered pawl spring failure, an oil leak and accidently smashing an indicator lens on the garage wall, all in the space of 10 days, I have found a good way of relaxing and putting things in perspective - Just hang-out in the CX500 owners forum. They have both mechanical and social problems to contend with How does everyone else recover from guzzilurgy ?
  17. Fantastic. Heaven is a place on earth. Will go to bed dreaming of Italian curves. I am off to Los Angeles in August next year. Anyone know where to hire a Guzzi ?
  18. Thanks Jason for the input,No junk on drainplug, pulled and inspected cover Thanks, Michael I would seriously consider to take the "fearbox" to pieces and inspect it. Pay particular attention to the shift rings. I have had one break cleanly, on a box out of recall numbers. I doubt this is the problem, though. However the box is problematic in some cases and it is a problem which could cost you dearly if unlucky. And no amount of driver skills can mitigate a blocked box! I am not driving any V11 sport without leathers. I have the scars to prove it! Similar prob here, a number of false neutrals at end of a long ride (all changing down), then couldn't change up from second, changed down to first and stuck there. No crunches or 'terminal' noises. Waiting for it (and me) to cool down then will pull it apart. Grrrr ! Your comments scare me - my legs have taken too much damage over the years, but I haven't yet been bitten by the Guzzi. Is it just a matter of time ???? Will report back on what bits fall out when I open her up. Here's hoping £3.50 spring and some attention to the arm is all that's needed.
  19. has not set their status

  20. I really like this look - and I'm in the market for something new (I just installed pro tek clip-ons that my MG carbon fiber fairing no longer fits with). Any further info and/or pics of the mounting would be great. Looks like a replica can be had here - http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/bmw/bmwboxer.htm (no affiliation, blah, blah). Edit - oops; should have searched. Lots of info - http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1062&st=0&p=8648&hl=r90s&fromsearch=1entry8648 Thanks. Think I might try the mk1 fairing here . . . http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/guzzi/motoguzzilemans.htm#price
  21. I like the look but it seems quite minimal on the protection. Does it have much of an impact ??
  22. As you indicate, the complete kit comes with lower clip-ons and it is probably more than my back could handle. Sounds like I am falling apart ! perhaps it is time to join the Cali gang ? Then again . . .
  23. Looks good ! Think I will go and have a poke around my local breakers yard and see what's available. Thanks.
  24. My neck muscles aren't what they used to be and I would also like some protection from the forthcoming winter. I have been looking for a le mans fairing but there are none to be had. Any suggestions? I really do not want to change the standard clip-on position if I can help it. Anything that deflects some air and looks good is what I am after. Thanks. PS I am in the UK.
