  1. Possibly you're familiar with the Welsh artist, Ralph Steadman who does all the illustrations for Flying Dog brewery... Good stuff try the french farmhouse ale. I forget the name but it's tasty. I have a Ralph Steadman poster on my wall ! Welsh ? English surely. He was born in Liverpool.
  2. Stumbled across this recently. 7.1% alcohol. My tongue went numb. Imported from the States (MA). Not a session beer !
  3. I saw this on Ebay too and it is only 10 miles from me. I think though that it has taken too much of a thump for my fat fingers to bring it back to life. Will leave it to those who know better and have more money than me. Would look nice in the lounge though !
  4. Yes, in a subsequent post he sticks the knife into Mr Brock. Shame, they are running out of time. Dave has copyright over the Hawkwind name in the UK, Nik has it in the US.
  5. Might just happen Jim. The latest from Nik . . . DEAR FRIENDS, HELPERS, ENTHUSIASTS, SUPPORTERS, INTER-DIMENSIONAL TRAVELLERS, INTERGALACTIC ALIENS, ALL SENTIENT BEINGS, MUSIC LOVERS AND BEINGS ON THE SAME COSMIC VIBRATIONS, I WISH TO SAY HOW MUCH I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO MY BAND AND MY, IMMINENT TOUR OF U.S.A.,, STARTING ON OCTOBER 9TH. ONE WORLD, ONE SOURCE, ONE MIND,, ONE COSMOS , ONE LOVE, LOVE TO YOU ALL ,NIK XXXXXXX
  6. Yeah it did cross my mind. Weather in the morning was significantly different to the afternoon. I was also tired from work and my precision motorcycling skills had largely deserted me - you know the scene; rubbish gear changes, poor lines round corners, wrong gear, braking all wrong. Seems that once the V11 is hot and bothered by my poor input it gets the hump for the rest of the trip. We both need a service ! Other bikes are more forgiving.
  7. A tune up is well overdue to be honest. I will book it in for the weekend (I don't have all the kit or time to do a proper job myself) I need a new set of tyres as well so time to spend some money on the old girl. She had better come back from therapy in a better mood or we will be saying goodbye. Life is too short.
  8. Rode to work Sunday. 40 mile round trip. On the way there; started first touch of the button, nice and smooth, responsive, was a good Guzzi and made me smile. On the way back; stalled twice when cold, rough as old boots, lumpy. Banged it open at a set of lights (in temper) and it took off like a scalded cat, back to being a good Guzzi. Guess I have an appointment with the fueling system or maybe the electrics. Another weekend looms with spanners in hand and no riding. Having trouble keeping the faith right now . . . I used to have bikes that worked well all of the time and were only off-road when I crashed the damn things.

  10. Yeah you forgot the bucket in case you cock it up. Nothing worse than petrol peeing all over the garage with nothing to catch it in. Also, be careful how you set the tank down once you get it off - some expanded polystyrene will protect those taps. Cheers.
  11. i was 50 last Saturday an received a 25 year old Glenlivet - 1974 Strathavon. Never seen it before and never will again as my mates drunk the bloody lot ! Gits.
  12. I remember the Bike article. I think it was written by Mark Williams and called 'falling in love again'. I too had the picture on my bedroom wall. It was that image that started my yearning for a Guzzi. The girl was nice too !
  13. I have mistrals that have seen some miles and are quite loud. I never have problems with my MOT. I think you will be OK with most pipes as long as they are not stamped 'Not for road use / for competition use only'. You need loud pipes to get the full Guzzi experience !
  14. If you get a chance, check out young Nik. He still gives good Hawkwind, and other cool sounds. Some clips here . . . http://www.nikturner.com/
  15. Welcome Hoggbert. Lovely bike, lovely country, Been to Norway just once (to a wedding in Molde) and was knocked out by the scenery. Plan to go again in the not too distant future (as soon as I have saved up enough for a beer).
  16. Picked this up in NZ a while ago. I have fully tested the statement on the front. Can't remember what the result was .
  17. Just for ref my 02 V11 (03 plate) started throwing false neutrals and these gradually increased over a period of a couple of months. The pawl spring then snapped. I replaced all the springs in the selector and it is now near to perfect with silky smooth changes, and has been for a couple of years now.
  18. Right have my new odyssey PC545 installed and everything is fine. I was reading the instructions a day later (as you do) and it says "Special Notice ! If your V twin motorcycle is equipped with a standard 32amp single phase stator/alternator, the appropriate Odyssey battery may run out of charger (sic) after about 150 miles of riding . . . . . blah blah blah (buy our other product to keep it charging) blah blah blah. . . or install a 3 phase 40 amp or higher stator/alternator, especially in new bikes". What does the V11 alternator put out ? (I don't speak electronics). Thanks chaps.
  19. Cool. Look forward to seeing your lap times !
  20. Booked my trip to Assen for Moto GP. Really excited !!!! Just wanted to share that ! Any other V11s headed that way ?
  21. Best thing to do is take it for a test ride. > Does it pull strong throughout the rev range and in all gears, like it could pull a house down ? > Does it do this without stuttering and without producing smoke ? > Is the gear change certain without hesitation and without being clunky ? > Does it vibrate a little below 3000 rpm and then smooth out as you give it what for ? > Is the handling surprisingly good, are the tyres lacking any sign of chicken strips ? > Does it make you wonder why you ever bothered with jap 4s ? > Is there a sound like a manic sewing machine coming from the rockers at tickover ? > Does the clutch sound bloody terrible ? > Do you come back from the test ride with a smile ? Is the person selling it quietly weeping ? If the answer is yes to all of these, then it is probably a good one.
  22. This is one huge bike. Looks much prettier in the flesh but probably too much bling for me. Comfy !
  23. Have you tested them with a Geiger counter ? Was the auction held at an air base ?
