'They' say it's possible with a right angled fitting on the end of a grease gun, but I've never seen one of those, although I've been looking out for one for ages. There are lots of write-ups on it. The fitting often seems to need ground down to fit. – Take the wheel off and then you can clean-up and grease everything in sight: it's not like it has to be done every month.

' it's not the answer to the question! Nevermind...' that ought to be the name of a Forum on here – can I be Administrator?

Gosh sounds like you're gonna become 'Bettermotogoozer' and not before time Thinking of joining the queue for the V-Rods?

I don't remember an Akrapovic thread, but at the time that I was looking/asking around about options, such an exotic company didn't do anything for such a humble bike as MG – and I dare say they never will.

I've put a breather pipe on mine, but still, I imagine that moisture is collected by being sucked in as the whole heap cools down. Surely that must be what happens with the standard breather, rather than all the water just splashing directly in through the vent? Is Redline meant to have properties to deal with this, for life? Unless all your journeys are long and you're sure that moisture is getting boiled and vented out again, I'd be inclined to change oil, even if at an extended interval. It could be just an unreasonable 'motorbike thing' though. I don't cosset cars so much. Nogbad can let us know how it goes after a good wet winter and DL can report back after he throws in a cupful of sand to soak-up/filter out the water.

There's nothing cool about Dell. Nothing.

Hmmm. There's gotta be something that you can have right now. Let's see: sort of ugly, plenty of 'character'... and what with all this fretting over a new Breva I think there may be a few more considerations. You're in some sort of psychological crisis, you're in search of a Lifestyle, I feel you're even looking for something a bit effeminate: yes, a Harley V Rod is just the thing. Problem solved?

You and I know they'll never surpass the 2002 Scura. cough, splutter

Or £2 from a UK bearing Factor ...I said a Factor would be cheaper As mentioned somewhere in the previous threads, the ring is actually more expensive than the bearing for some reason, but still, both parts together are still a lot cheaper than Guzzi's £34! HK 2516 £2 ring £5.40 + vat = £8.69 Nog's bearing site looks even cheaper – for the 6204 anyway: I don't see a 2516

Why wait? I bet your local Be em dubya dealer has something ugly in stock and ready to go.

It's avoidable. OK, try this: while or whilst holding in the clutch lever, use your foot to twist the black bit on the end of the right-side handlebar. People usually call it a throttle and it makes the engine go faster, just like that tricky little lever. If you can't get your foot up, try using your teeth, but be careful that you don't poke your eye out on anything pointy. Another good tip is to run hard while/st pushing the bike so that enough momentum is built-up to help the engine keep turning over. You'll need to knock it into gear (maybe with your knee or elbow) and jump on the seat sharpish. However don't do this IF you have swapped the springs over. With the super strength spring fitted, a sudden jolt on the seat will unsettle the latch and the seat will fly up, ejecting you clear off. You've no hope of operating the lever then, with both arms in slings.

nogbad nogbad the bad I'm bad too and I'm calling to you Nogbaaaad come to me Come to meeeeeeee

Is a manual fast idle lever not an anachronism with EFI? I just fire up & ride off, which is perhaps what you used to do? As I say – just curious: it's not the most critical issue... my curiosity is aroused as I've discovered that I was wrong about my fast idle lever working. In fact it doesn't. As reported by others, it moves, but becomes heavy to move and doesn't stay put. As I haven't been using it, I didn't realise that it doesn't stay set at an 'on' position.

If you didn't, you have now. OLD! Red Watch out. You've seen what he can do to a jar of mustard.
-
Well, are you still using it, or was it a one-off experiment in the spirit of scientific adventure? I suppose you had to use it at least once, having spent a couple of minutes changing springs. I'm curious, as you didn't use it before.

dunno, but that sturdy stuff that your oul' Gran used didn't work too well, else you couldn't be posting here The picture of oul granny's stuff

Re no.4: funnily enough I thought of my 'good friend' JRT straight away as he has recently mentioned very similar 'personal' problems (it may have been in Tech Topics). Nogbad could perhaps tell more of his experience in this area too. He touches on it, in a post above: "I have to support Ratchet". I feel that there's more to tell. As for your age. I can assure you that you are in good company. This is pretty much the perfect age for Moto Guzzing. Why did JR use 'that's', rather than 'who's'? Hmm. What's your phone number? I have a 'very good friend' who would like to know.

There are a whole raft of threads about the bevelbox and the needle roller bearing, including methods of extraction. A search throws up the following, for starters. The more recent ones include info on needle roller experiences. Some of the threads might be a few pages long, but the info on extraction is in there somewhere. Also prices for cheap purchase at bearing factors. I fitted a ring without the drilled hole, thinking the solid ring might help keep water from ingressing. I now think that it's more important to seal the box/swingarm interface from the outside (though JRT has a perverse theory about the goodness of rust: acting as a form of loctite and being necessary to hold the axle in – for safety's sake). Look here: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5537&hl= http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4933&hl= http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4979&hl= http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4923&hl= http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2441&hl= http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2391&hl=

– and not just lube. Have guys with the awkward seat latch tried adjusting the mechanism? With slight adjustment and normal application of lube I find that the seat latch works just fine. The fast idle lever also works. I can't believe that the factory fits seat lock springs to the handlebar controls and vice versa. I'll bow to more knowledgeable comments, but I've always thought that it was better to move off as soon as possible after starting up, not let the bike sit at raised revs? Do / didn't BMW, for example, fit devilish combinations of switches to side-stands etc so that the bikes couldn't be started and left to run/'warm-up' – they are/were meant to be started and ridden-off straight away? (I might have made that up, but lots of BM owners out there can keep me right on that.)

No It's wot one says when one points to the remains of dead pig in BigJ's dustbin (trashcan). There's a typo: someone mistook the J for a U. The word is, or course, disambigjate.
