  2. I got a new pair from TLM last year - don't know if they have any more, but surely worth a call. D
  3. I've tried googling these - no success. Could you post a link? D
  4. In the sailing boat world there are aftermarket regulators available that directly sense the battery voltage (rather than the output voltage) and so keep the voltage higher for longer. Is there not an equivalent bike version (a boat one would be a bit big to hide on a bike...) D
  5. Hi! Any news? I am thinking to flash the Ti map on my V11 that dont have a lambda. Anyone with experience in this? Best regards! Hi, No further news - TLM are looking after the bike until start of March. They sent me a picture the other day with the new pipes fitted and a new back light/number plate hanger. Looks pretty good! I'll come back to this question when I pick the bike up. D
  6. Hi Guys, Been following this thread with interest, on my sailing boat I have a carbon mast with mainly stainless fittings, on my bikes some carbon parts in contact with aluminium. I knew about the problems between stainless and aluminium, but I never considered carbon/metal mix. The carbon fibres in carbon fibre are always held in an epoxy matrix. This should act as an insulator and so stop the corrosion - but I guess the mounting holes are drilled through after molding, so exposing the carbon. We should be able to remove the bolts and then coat either the bolt or the inside of the hole with epoxy, and there should be no problem. You could use duralac also although it can be a bit messy. The other solution is to make sure that all the salt is washed off. Pure water won't act as an electrolyte and so will not cause the problem. Even rainwater and spray off the road shouldn't cause a big problem, it needs the salt (or something similar) to form a galvanic cell. Cheers David
  7. I thought the guy at TLM said that the mapping he would put on would also read the lambda - but I'll ask him again, because it was a kind of "in passing" comment. D
  8. Thanks devildogg, I'm really looking forward to it - looks like some really good riding roads out there - not so crowded as in my part of Europe. It was great to have a choice of five V11s in this dealer! I think mine is the nicest! D
  9. Yes it is a lovely bike. Registered in 2007, I think a 2005 model, with only 4300km on the clock - It looks new! I'm going to leave it with TLM over the shitiest part of the winter, pick it up ealry next spring - if I can wait that long! I'm turning into a fairwaether biker as I get older! Thanks for your advice. David
  10. My "new" V11 Cafe Sport - still in the showroom. David
  11. Hi Michael, Sorry Newbie error! Thanks for moving it. Madridpunch comes from way back. Now I'm living in Eindhoven. When you say you couldn't get it "just right" what was wrong? I listened to the file, but even better the dealer had an earlier V11 with the pipes on, so he showed me for real. He assures me that the earlier pipes will be ok, it is just the ECU that will present the problem. I want to do it, if only for the noise. I spoke to him tonight, and he has offered to put the original mapping back if I don't like the new, so I guess nothing ventured... I'll let you know how I get on. David
  12. The only thing I don't really love about my "new" V11 Cafe Sport is the sound. Those standard pipes just don't do it justice. The dealer has a pair of MG Ti cans in stock, so I have specified them also, however, the kit it comes from is for the earlier model V11s and so he recommends not fitting the ECU that came with it (something about a lambda sensor on the newer models), but has offered to reprogram the existing one to the same mapping. So, should or shouldn't I? I really don't know the effect the new ECU will have and whether I would like it better than the standard. Does anyone have experience of both so they can describe, either objectively (torque curves and power etc.) or qualitatively (low down feel, versus "reviness") how the two compare? I appreciate your advice - and yes I will upload a picture of the bike this evening. D
  13. Every little helps! Better cut down on the beer a bit in that case, I could probably shave a few more grams... Place where I bought my "new" V11 have done some mods to a V7, bringing it up to 820cc and a bit more than 50hp (rather than a bit less) V7 LAMPO GIALLO RACER Looks and sounds really nice. D
  14. I know I'm a newbie on this forum, however, I find it difficult to let all this opinion pass by without adding my bit. I've had Guzzis for 30 years from my first Monza, to my current collection of 8V Griso, V11 Cafe Sport & V7 Racer. Honestly, the bike that puts the biggest smile on my face is the V7. It really reminds me of the Monza (although it is way better in reality). It's a fun bike to throw around in the twisties over here in the home of motorcycling (Europe :-)). I guess if you have 200 miles of straight road in front of you then it might be a bit boring (but then so would any bike). And apparently it is what keeps Guzzi alive, so it gets my vote. If I could only have one bike it gets more difficult, I think I would struggle to defend the V7 there, but as a fun Sunday afternoon ride it's hard to beat. Let's not talk to much about how V11 represent the real "honest" motorbike - carbon side panels on a 230kg bike anyone?
  15. Hi All, I've just come back from buying my second V11 from a dealer here in NL My new V11 . I started off with Guzzis back in 1982 with a V50 Monza. All my mates at the time had Kawasaki Z650s, and they were much faster than me on the straights, and I could leave them for dead in the twisties. I crashed that one pretty hard, bought another one and put the two together to make one good one. Next bike was a Norton 850 Comando, then a Moto Guzzi 1000S, then a Cagiva Raptor, then my first V11 - silver with red frame. I part exchanged that for a Griso 8V in 2008. Added a V7 Racer this June (nostaligia trip, really reminds me of the Monza), and made my stable complete with the 2006 V11 Cafe Sport this afternoon. I'm British, currently living and working in Eindhoven. Just building my very first dedicated bike shed in the garden. It'll be great! David
