  1. ...and totally inedible by man or beast as far as I can tell, but soak in gin for a year with a load of sugar, strain out the berries and you have pure nectar.
  2. The "English" pronunciation sounded more like the Queen's Butler than your average UK denizen.I liked the Italian (lady's) pronunciation better too... must have played it back at least 8 times! A
  3. You should try living with British English of the estuarine variety.

    Chin Pad

I'll bear that in mind, thanks guys A

    Chin Pad

I had wondered how that chin pad was attached. Thanks docc. I haven't had to go there yet, but as this bike as a keeper I probably will one day. When I do use a tank bag, I use a Baglux/Bagster tank cover which clips the tank bag on and probably protects the pad from the worst effects. From what you're saying, I guess the pad pries off when you need to remove it and the ball ends just pop out of the grommets. Is that right? Best to start prying at front or back of pad, would you say? Andy
  6. A session ale is one you can quaff steadily all night without getting utterly sh*tfaced but still feel like you're drinking a proper pint. Much above 4.0% and only the hardiest will manage to stay upright, let alone stagger home.Andy PS just bottling up this years batch of sloe gin. makes for a different kind of session and recovery period.
  7. We Anglo-Saxons like our local brews. I nominate one of the traditional style bitter beers from our local brewery: Tring Brewery. http://www.tringbrewery.co.uk/PermanentandSeasonal.html Actually anything they do is great but in particular, Ridgeway bitter. 4.0 % ABV, so low enough to be a good session ale and available in bottles or on draught, I often take a tray of bottles with me when I visit family and friends and it just vanishes - recommendation in itself. Next week I'm taking a small barrel to a farm in rural Wales to share at an old friend's summer bash. Happy days!

    Ya,,I'll take it!

Is it French? Has that vibe (and the yellow headlamp)...
  10. Not sure tapered rollers will do - you'd need to put the thrust on them for them to work properly and I don't think you can get that with the pork chop design. I thought perhaps double row taper rollers, but couldn't find anything in the catalogue that would fit or convert and I'm not sufficient an engineer to work it out.
  11. Heresy, I know, but I was generally quite happy with the stock system for drivability (if a bit quiet)! Then something came loose in the stock crossover - a piece of stainless mesh by the looks of it, can't hook it out though. And the drivability got a whole lot better, smoother, more liberated and fuel consumption went down to boot! What's not to like then? ...the phenomenal clatter from the box at idle! Guys at the club thought the clutch was coming apart. So I got a Mistral and it's, well, OK. Sounds nicer and I've got used to it but better? Not so sure. A bit of tuning work may help tho'. However, if I can just hook out that loose bit, I might well revert to stock. Andy
  12. I smear Hylomar blue on the gasket before fitting. That solved my leaks AndyH
  13. Update: 1st August was the hottest day of the year so far 32+ deg C (~90F) went into London for a dentist's appointment on the V11: I was sweating buckets and the bike was plain grumpy at lights etc. In my book, this should be a surefire recipe for vapour lock after 15 -30 minutes downtime. Teeth fixed, I came out and expected it to embarrass me, but it started up and just went, no trouble: no blatting, coughing, farting, starter whinnying etc. the usual stuff I've come to expect. May be wishful thinking, but the heatshield has undergone its toughest test. Still waiting for the manual petcock ... AndyH
  14. Cheap gas, and for the good stuff (didn't know about different ratings - WTF, is nothing standard?) - lucky folk!AndyH
  15. $8.90 per [uS] gallon - for special fuel: that's just a bit above what we pay over here for normal pump Super Unleaded (97 - lower or no Ethanol). Lucky folk! You wouldn't really want to run a V11 on the cheap stuff here (95 - uncertain ethanol content) which works out at ~ $7.80 per [uS] gallon. That said, the 97 works pretty well with no messing about and that's got to be worth something. Just to keep up with the times, what do you guys over the pond pay at the moment for your best pump fuel? AndyH
  16. Does sound like the dog's b*!!*x doesn't it? Probably hard to get in the UK and my grease gun is cartridge type so it would have to be available as a cartridge.

They don't stay under four for ever... You'll be glad you kept it...
  19. send it to guzzidiag@gmail.com, as I recall the guy's name I think was Bernd and he sent back the XDF. AndyH
  20. Lithium Iron POLONIUM???? (just being pedantic)
  21. With you there Trevini: I had an alarm/immobiliser on my Ducati Monster. Nothing but trouble and several repair/replacements over 5 or 6 years (mainly beyond the warranty period of course). When I asked how much to remove the damn thing: same price as replacing the faulty board! Overall it cost me much much more than the saving I made on the insurance. I was so glad when the V11 came along without an alarm fitted. Doesn't take much to immobilise itself anyway...
  22. Out of interest, is the standard OEM replacement Regulator/Rectifier or is it some other make (e.g. Electrex)? That may make a difference as to what is recommended: Electrex offer their own wiring suggestion which I'd recommend you follow. The OEM connection back to the battery (both Ground and Live) is pretty feeble at the best of times and there are plenty of posts elsewhere in this forum recommending how you can beef them up. Andy
  23. My tach problem isn't a relay issue either... swapped the relay for a new one with no change They just seem to be fragile, I guess...
  24. Sockets for the nuts is a good idea. I'll use them to slightly extend the nuts: the U shaped hooks on my OEM stand sit just a wee bit ( Good tip!
