  1. Ok boys. I had some crossover adapters made for my Scura and I thought I posted some pics 2 or 3 years ago. I had some little spacers fabricated to bolt between the tank and the regulator on one side and the tank and the vallve on the other side. Coming out of each spacer is a brazed-in metal spigot tube to which is attached a flexible hose that runs underneath the spine to the other fabricated adapter on the other side of the tank. This set-up connects both sides of the tank and allows gas to flow between the two sides. The problem is that in order to keep these spacers as thin as possible and avoid them causing interference of the lowered valve and regulator after installation of the crossover spacers, I ended up with spigots of about 3/16 ID. The issue now is that the fuel pump pumps at a rate exceeded the ability of this small of a crossover tube to level things out. At low fuel levels, one side of the tank is momentarily pumped dry afterwhich it slowly refills from my crossover tube and starts supplying fuel to the injectors again. The end result is a run-stall, run-stall. I guess thats better than just going dead in the water but its still a problem. To work nicely, any crossover tube would need to be much bigger than 3/16. In fact, Im guessing a 1/2 line may be the minimum you could get by with. Utilizing a crossover line that big would present many problems due to limited space.
  2. The valve covers and pork chops are some kinda paint. They do look like anodizing but its more of a paint coating that easily chips off.
  3. Theres a metallic red color available in the Testors model paints that is a good match for touch up. Also, there is a metallic red aerosol that Ive seen at AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts that looks to be close.
  4. Based on what Im reading here, Id recommend replacing the master cylinder. It wont hurt and it's not very expensive. I recently encountered a rear pedal that just would not feel right, no matter how much I bled the system. ( u r correct to bleed the caliper off the bracket with bleed fitting pointing up) I replaced the master cylinder and the difference was dramatic.
  5. Yes, the adjuster will probably take care of your problem. Search the old threads on this. Basically, its an adjust-and-try procedure. Turn it one way only very slightly and test ride. If that doesnt work, try going back the other way. With some fiddling, you can get it to shift very nicely.
  6. Al needs the bike much more than John.
  7. Hey guys, with the demise of the V11, are we going to see these bikes and this website sorta fall by the wayside ??? All this technical advice is great but it is less and less applicable to new guzzi models. There will be some V11's around for quite a while but, as we gradually replace them with the new generation of Guzzi bikes, the V11 community will shrink or, at least, not continue to grow. Should the newer models be integrated into this site in order to perpetuate the site's existence?
  8. Al, we need to talk to that girl ! She should have told them they had all kind of money and voted herself a raise !! Hope it all works out .............. and it will.
  9. Al, are you going to the Buena Vista Guzzi rally this year ??? Its not too far from you and I think you'd like it.
  10. Al, Al, Al, where are you, son????
  11. You dont need to remove the rear wheel to grease the front u joint. Turn the grease fitting on the u joint to the top position. Get a hinged grease gun fitting. Put it at about 45 degrees and come into the u joint from the rear of the bike along the top of the driveshaft. It will mate up and snap right on. The whole thing takes maybe a minute. Earlier posts go over this.
  12. Did Marsh go out of business ??? Its ironic, as long as they held on, now that Guzzi is starting to offer some product, they fold. I guess Al decided to throw in the towel. I visited there many times.
  13. Any of youz guys going to Daytona this year ?? Is there a Guzzi campground? Im thinking of staying out at Holiday Travel Park with the BMW boys.
  14. Al, I forgot to ask you in that other thread but how is your V11 running ???? I lost track of everything you did to it. Was everything worth the trouble??
  15. Al, if you are ever looking for new duds, I highly recommend the Tourmaster Transition 2 jacket. It comes with a zip out insulated liner and you can get one delivered for about $150. Also, its damn water PROOF. I have tested mine many times. I think its better than the Aerostich, especially in the rain (be sure to always put your rain gloves under the coat sleeves). Amazing for $150. When I ride in below-freezing weather, I use the windproof Aerostich Kanetsu electric liner instead of the Transition liner. I stay snug as a bug in a rug.
  16. Allllll, da man is back !!!! You wont get enough money for the V11 to make selling it worthwhile so you may as well get over that idea. Keep looking for a job! If you can, get over in the western part of NC, at least west of Hickory. I have a place on the coast of California and its nice out there but I think the roads in western NC are better. There's so much lush vegetation there too. Unbelieveable curves and topo changes make it a riding paradise. You ride that V11 a while and ease over into those parts of the state and your whole attitude and outlook will change. Having kids and not wanting to get killed are nice sentiments. I have kids and I dont wanna get killed either. In fact, I happen to know a lot of riders that dont wanna get killed. You dont have to run like some of these crazy crotch rockets that really push the envelope. Snick the lemans in 3rd and enjoy the mountains. Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherohala Skyway, Winding Stairs, Corkscrew Road, and many other wonderful rides await you. Take advantage of where you are and youll realize things you dont yet know.
  17. Or, maybe he is actually riding it all the time now. NC has some of the very best motorcycle roads in the world.
  18. He must have sold his V11. I wonder what he is doing with all that spare time now ! lol
  19. Hey, whatever happened to Al R ??? Is he still around ? Does he still have his V11 that he entertained us with so much a few years ago???
  20. I masked off my Scura engine, carefully sandblasted it and painted it with HD Texture paint. It looks great. Thats been a couple of years ago now. If you blast the cases, be very careful and mask everything well and cover any hole where sand can infiltrate. You may want to experiment with the texture paint first. Try using 2 or 3 non-heavy coats to build up the texture.
  21. Wait a minute, wait a minute, what Guzzi makes 173 HP ????? Must have been an Eldorado.
