  1. I am very curious to know what this "factory race pack" consists of...
  2. Cost is a deterrent if you have continuously buy and replace crap. Not having the right thing adds up quick.
  3. Docc is correct, the Öhlins MG 127 is no longer in production, and when I called to ask if they had a successor they quite unhelpfully flatly said no, and made no effort to suggest another product that might be compatible. I find it hard to believe that with all the shocks they make they don't have something that would work for us, but given the lack of interest their rep displayed in helping me, I have now decided to take my shock dollars elsewhere.
  4. Docc, you are probably correct. Either way, it's been ridden. Not too interested in having it rebuilt, as that would mean waiting at least a month with the bike out of commission. Maybe I can have it rebuilt after I've installed a new one, and have it as a backup, or maybe for reselling it to someone on the list who might want it. Chamberlin, thanks for posting that. I'll ask around about the Hyperpro shocks... Right now I'm leaning towards Penske pretty hard.
  5. I was in contact with Ghezzi Brian last summer asking them if it was still available and they said it wasn't.

  7. Cool, thanks for the feedback. My impression of Penske from others is that they are in fact superior in quality to the Öhlins, and also a shade more expensive, but I guess that depends on what all the bells and whistles are. And I totally agree re: buying the best you possibly can when it comes to a critical part like a shock.
  8. I was going to wait it out until the winter, and do a major rear end overhaul (brace the swing arm and replace bearings, add some drillium to the pork chops, aluminum subframe, etc.) but it's now clear that my new front end is out riding the rear. Probably would be fine for easy riding on the street and highway but when pushing it hard on the track this last weekend, the rear was definitely acting squirrely. With over 45k miles on the original WP shock, I think it's not too soon to start thinking about getting a new one. So, taking a poll as to what shock I should go with. Öhlins would be the no-brainer choice, but wondering if it would be worth it to spend a little more on a Penske. Then there are some lesser known brands out there making high quality products without all the name recognition, and the pricetag can be a little more gentle. I'd love to hear your thoughts. What aftermarket shocks are you running? Thanks!

Wish us luck as we head to NJMP for our first track days this weekend. More than a little nervous...
  13. I would like to buy your internal-fuel-pump-and-filter v11 tank. I believe these came on the '02 - onward bikes. Don't care if it has a chin pad or not, all I care about is that it has the internal pump. Let me know if you do, thanks!
  14. Any condition other than mangled into a ball of spaghetti is fine... Slightly bent, rusty, chipped paint, scratches, no problem. Or, brand spanking new would be fine as well of course. If you have one you no longer need, I'll take it! Thank you!
  15. "i have made the decision to spend more time riding bikes an a bit less wrenching" so why don't you just ride the Guzzi?
  16. tested it by running some juice directly into the appropriate wires in the harness, all good.
  17. ok that's a relief. I wasn't looking forward to taking it all apart again.
  18. no, there's gas in the tank. I haven't been on the bike since November so I don't remember if the low fuel light is supposed to turn on along with the others when the key is turned to the "on" position before starting, or not.
  19. just to double check, when the ignition key is turned to the on position but the engine isn't started yet, these lights should come on: -N -Oil -Charging -Fuel is this correct? I finally got my new cluster all wired up, tested it, everything works except for the low fuel light which isn't coming on. I did reconnect the leads coming out of the tank to test it. if it's not supposed to come on I won't take it apart, but I'm pretty sure I remember that it is indeed supposed to. arrgghhh.....

    Magni fairing

Late to this thread, just found it now because I am investigating fairings. AirTech Streamlining offer a Magni style fairing, and they might be a little easier to deal with: http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/vintage/vintagefairingshalf.htm Don't think they sell the mounting hardware though...

Here is a clearer shot of the 3D printed intake. You can see the rifling through the semi translucent material.
