  1. I suppose in Sir's defense: It could depend whether you'll need more frequent access to either the pre-load or rebound adjuster. As one or the other will be niched up out the way between those air-box 'wings'. P.s. Them swingarm bolts love a bit of rust don't they?
  2. yep, just added a smear o hylomar, lets see how she behaves tomo. Pretty sure at the mo that it's the seal that's the problem and not the sensor.
  3. yeah, but 50 kilos.... helium in the tyres? hydrogen in the frame? Admittedly, the stock exhausts, battery and tyres do weigh a ton... Ahh, just noticed those fat holes in the spine. Ditching the nasty, useless hugger'll save a few grams too.... Although won't the rear tyre spray crud towards the carb inlets?
  4. Rare article on a V11 custom build (maybe because they look so damn fine as standard??): Some interesting details (wheels, tank, carbs), looks quite unique. http://www.pipeburn.com/home/2015/07/10/00-moto-guzzi-v11-sport-santiago-choppers.html "...The power and the torque of this engine is so cool.” Hear hear!! "...original, bulbous lines..." How very dare you! Apparently used a fuckin magic wand somewhere as it claims to have shaved more than 50 kilos (110lbs) off the weight!!?? How much? I mean, I love the way my v11 handles, but she aint no lightweight. Just imagine if she did weigh 168 kilos...
  5. Ok, unbolted and cleaned up all around. There was some old grey sealant of some kind smeared here and there. I've replaced it for now and I'll take her for a quick spin to see what occurs. If it leaks I'll introduce a bit of fresh sealant. If it still leaks I'll replace the o-ring. I have to wonder why gstallions recommended to replace the sensor- a new sensor is unlikely to be supplied with a fresh o-ring so would not the problem remain? I have to assume the sensor is functioning fine as the bike runs well. edit: heh! it's pissing out, on to stage 2!
  6. P.S. Quite glad the leak wasn't coming from somewhere else... Somewhere more involved....
  7. I checked the 2004 owners manual and it lists the Timing Sensor as SEN813. They're on ebay uk, like Paradiso mentions, in a motorcycle specific listing (v11, Brutale, Ducati) for £26. I'm just off out to the bike now to remove the old one and check it.
  8. got it, cheers
  9. Yet more expense.... I think I found one on ebay for £55- does that sound right?
  10. Nice, not a bad price- looks like it fits well?
  11. Ah, cheers guys. Yeah I gave them a wee tweek but it didn't stop the weepage. I'll pull it and check the seal.
  12. What's the black plug situated just by the oil sensor, attached with two cap heads, forward of the left cylinder? Wondering as mine has begun to weep a wee bit of oil. Stew
  13. Well, nonetheless, I agree that it's a noticeable improvement over the sachs. There's more 'floatiness' over rough and rippled surfaces and, combined with the lovely Avon 3D-XM's, I'm finding her more comfortable when leaning into the curves. I love my bike. She's right good.
  14. Delivered! Fitted! Ridden! Rebound Twiddled! Ridden! Working nicely as far as I can tell. Hey Scud- I happened to bolt mine on t'other way round- does it matter? Has one of us made an unforgivable error?? What will the neighbours say??? At least I can get to my rebound knob without removing the airbox. Stew
  15. Glad that's all cleared up! The first time I removed it it gave way with a right crack. I'm used to removing the whole shebang now but as that bolt is usually quite tight it's starting to damage the head where the hex key sometimes slips.
  16. "..bolt in question is not removed during a tire change.." Are you sure? I can't imagine how I'd get the wheel out with the hanger in place... Will it pivot out the way when the axle is removed?
  17. No gaskets fitted to mine either.... should there be?
  18. Mine recently started catching a bit again around 2,750. I happened to take the headers off to rub 'em back + shine them up. When replaced the problem was gone. Perhaps they weren't nipped up good previously?
  19. Cool. We like Stable and Predictable. Still waiting for mine but thanks to pasotibbs (who does own a duc paso- lucky fellow) I've been hooning around on his old sachs unit. We've had some lovely days so far this summer so I'm a most grateful egg.
  20. I wonder has anyone got a copy of Guzziology? I'd have thought there would be info on this subject in there. Stew
  21. Final post on this: My neutral light now functions as it should (Until now it was reversed somehow - 'on' when in gear and 'off' when in neutral). Big Thanks go out to Stuarto49 who showed powerful tenacity and dauntless spirit whilst talking me through the installation over the phone. Cheers Stuart! Some confusion arose until we realised his v11 is a 2001 model and mine's an '04- there seem to be a few wiring differences! So we wired a relay into the neutral circuit. Below are the details of how it is connected. (Originally used a 5 pin relay but I wondered if it works on a 4 pin and it does). Relay Connect to ------------------------- 85 12v ignition 86 Loom neutral (Purple) 87 Ground (Black) 30 Koso neutral (Purple) Hey presto!

    Rossopuro

Heh! Yea, website looks great, like a v11; but functions crap, like a v11 with dicky fueling. The shop is at www.officinerossopuro.com. Like I said: Italian speakers will have nay probs here but if you scroll down to 'Menu per Modello' there is a tab to click for V11 sport. You will then be greeted with the heading, in English: 'Our wonderful products', followed by a table of photo-less tabs and a sidebar in Luigispeak. Good Luck! Bella! Chianti!! Errr ... Aiutare! x
  23. Low fuel light now mounted at rear of headlight:
  24. Cheers Stu, I'm just off to work but I'll have a gander when back this afternoon.

Did you search the 'Officine Rossopuro Shop'? Admittedly, you'd need a grasp of Italiano....
