Nils Bergendahl Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 I use Windows XP sp2 and IE work has a Windows NT and IE It seems that every reposted avatar comes up as a flat line If I use Firefox everything is fine, but when I switch to Explorer I get to see these lines too. Windows XP sp2. Nils
Guzzirider Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 I altered a setting in the avatar upload section.Could you try again? When uploading you can set it to your own dimensions. Just fill in the width (max 150 px) and the height will adjust automatically. Dunno if this helps, but it's worth a try. 67995 Just tried it Jaap- still flatlining I am afraid. Guy
gthyni Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 If I use Firefox everything is fine, but when I switch to Explorer I get to see these lines too. then don't There is a excellent new extension called IETab for firefox (windows only) which solves the problem of having to switch between firefox and IE http://ietab.mozdev.org/
Admin Jaap Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 Just tried it Jaap- still flatlining I am afraid. Guy 68115 And if you also give it a fixed height?
docc Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 I had the giant 'Jaap' and hit the F5. Now I see Jaap's avatar as an image of the tank logo. No 'flat lines' though.
Guzzirider Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 And if you also give it a fixed height? 68122 Tried that too!
Admin Jaap Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Guy, could you send me the source code of a page with flat line avatars? Right click somewhere on the page - not on an image! > View page source. Save the source as a text file (*.txt) and send it to infov11lemans.com please. TIA Jaap
mike wilson Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Seems to be an IE problem. I use NS at work and home and have never seen this effect. Sob. m

belfastguzzi Posted November 24, 2005 Author Posted November 24, 2005 Switched to Firefox (do you have shares in it Jaap? ) - can see them all now. Still not working in IE. 68518 Well done. I didn't want to say it, but for sure – get rid of Internet Explorer. Now you've taken the first step, prepare to ditch that Windows stuff next.
mike wilson Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 IE sucks what are good OTHER web browsers don't say netscape I will slap you. firefox good you say? never heard of myself. 68520 Netscape. Now reach out..... Firefox is based on Mozilla code. As is Netscape, the most developed version of that coding. All leading from Mosaic, the first popular GIU web browser. There is also Opera, although I think that may have gone belly-up recently. The real problem with IE is that you cannot remove it from your system. If you use windows..... mike
Admin Jaap Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Even if you could remove it, don't! There are still a lot of badly coded websites that only work well in IE. There is a Firefox plug in called "View page in IE" Sadly enough I have to use it quite a lot... I don't have shares, but I don't mind promoting stuff I really like! Get Firefox
