Oh, Nogbad we beseech thee, don't bastardize the high standards set forth by stumpers and this forum alike. -_- For all we can see, it could be a vespa (unlikely) wrapped up in airtech products (also unlikely).

OK, how about a Honda CBX250? Also unlikely, but a cool bike nonetheless.

No

I'm not giving clues, but clearly it is so, apart from the capacity, which shall remain for me to know, and for you to find out.

Your initial post contains only a picture of the bike but asks no questions. The title specifies "model only". I take this to mean that manufacturer, capacity or any other such stuff does not apply to getting the correct answer for this quiz. Only the model will suffice as I see it.

Is it the road racing model?

OK.

Manufacturer and model.

Yes it is a racing machine, and a prototype at that. However, it is based on, and uses components from a bike that would qualify as a volume product. Furthermore, it came from an established manufacturer (at the time, I don't say whether or not the said manufacturer still exists) and is NOT a privateer bike to the best of my knowledge.

Sorry there isn't a better picture, but with the rare and unusual it is sometimes difficult.

At first, I thought it was one of the "Y" series Yamahas from the late sixties and I'm still tempted slightly that way. A lot of the acilliaries look wrong for that, though. How original/authentic is this?

As far as I know, original and authentic.

Then I'd guess it's a MZ. The trailor in the background has that certain "from-behind-the-fence" air with its weak colour and the rough rear lights. But then it could come from the UK as well :)

The pix from MZs that I know all had the exhausts in high position, but you say it's a prototype. Somehow this 80's Monocoque and the brakes don't go together.

Interesting anyway. In case we will see the answer here, will you provide some background info about it?

The seat and fairing look to be 1980's as do the silencers on the exhaust but I can see that the engine is air-cooled and the brakes are drum type - both of wich are not typical of the 80's. Are you sure this is original as built by the manufacturer or has it been updated over the years with more modern bodywork?

I am fairly sure this is original and as built.

No

So MZ also not?

Then let's assume the styling of fairing and seat is as always long before its time, will say Italian. What comes to my mind is the early Cagiva.

Cagiva having bought the rests of Harley-Aermacchi and some other 2-stroke stuff and already keen on racing.

Cagiva sounds plausible to me, and looks so as well.

Right this time?
