  1. Driveshaft lubing today. Got to hear that satisfying squidg sound of grease squeezing out of the front U-joint

  2. Had a new Wilbers shock installed and fine tuned by Markbilt Racing (certified Ohlins Service Center). The shock was included with the purchase of my 03 LeMans. Rode 50 miles - nice improvement over the stock Sachs unit. The separate low and high-speed compression adjustments seem to make the most difference. It's much more compliant over bumps without losing overall proper firmness for cornering and heavy acceleration.

  3. I'll bite. Shipping to 16801? Question: What did you use to dye them. I have the v11 tank bag which is the faded purple. Would try to match them. Whatever it is, it better not be the stuff Rudy uses!

  4. You know docc, based on frequent usage of the high/low beam "flicker switch" to warn cage drivers of travel path (and preclude left hand turns in front of me) it's very possible that the headlight bulb connector could be suspect. A burned fuse has occurred several times during underway travels where loss of tach, lights, etc. have occurred. My only reluctance is in breaking into a virgin motorcycle (fairing, etc., etc., etc. to get to the bulb) but since it's a V11 the time is coming (i.e., this winter) and cannot be put off any longer. Thanks for the tip.

  5. Have you looked at your parts catalogue to find the part number of the decals that you want? Searching for the part number may lead you to a cheaper part. For example, will this decal suit you? http://www.harpermoto.com/decal-motoguzzi-silver-01917500.html

  9. Beautiful design is a big part of a bike's appeal to me. I currently own 2 Guzzi's designed by Marabese: a 1200 Sport and a V11 LeMans. I also own a LeMans 3 which Marabese has said is his personal Guzzi. "You know, even though I design for Aprilia, Laverda and others, and in my life I have had about thirty different bikes, that's it: the Guzzi is the only one I still have in my heart. I still enjoy today with my 850 Le Mans." http://archivio.animaguzzista.com/maestri/marabese/marabese.htm My question for you Marabese aficionado's is this: if you could have 3 Marabese Guzzi's what would they be? Here are the options: Centauro V11 Sport V11 LeMans Breve 750 Breva 1100 Breva 1200 Sport Griso Norge Thanks for your thoughts! Mike

  12. LowRyter , I would flip the relay holder over , remove the relays and snug up ALL the terminal connectors & do the same thing with the fuse holder . Install the grease of your choice and see what happens. Make all your work deliberate and record all your step by step work .

  13. Fuse No 5 on the earlier VII should be a 20 Amp, not a 15. These earlier bikes are better wired in some ways, Fuse 5 is direct from the battery and feeds the Start relay, you should never have a problem with it failing to crank (provided it hasn't blown the fuse). The later bikes late 2003/2004 have the start relay fed from a switched fuse so they suffer from "Startus Interuptus" like many other models, how do I know this, because my 2001 was wired direct. I couldn't understand what SI was about until one day I discovered there are two coils in the solenoid, the solenoid has an inrush current around 40 Amps (too much for a 15 Amp fuse). Trace the wiring to and from Fuse 5 It comes straight from the battery, goes to the Start relay through the normally closed contact to the headlight relay. Compare it to a later model. Here the start relay is fed from fuse 4 via the ignition switch, a 15 Amp fuse will probably never blow because it has half a mile of tiny wire to limit the current and the ability of the solenoid to engage the starter properly. You cannot simply feed the start relay direct or it will turn the headlight on, there's several ways around that.

  14. Press to start and "nothing" can simply be the Clutch Safety Switch "bullet" connectors under the left side of the tank. They are notorious for locking out the start function. Sometimes, this can be confirmed by holding in the clutch lever while keeping the start button pressed and rotating the bars back and forth. If the starter suddenly catches, it is likely a bad connection at those flinky bullet connectors.
