  1. I'll see if I can borrow a digital camera tonight. The kit moves the footrests so that on one side it is located right where the rear brake lever pivots, and uses the frame bolt hole in the same location on the other side. The only thing that I didn't like is a small bit of the porkchop paint came off with the peg when I removed it. Haven't looked for touch up paint yet. Ryan
  2. The Evoluzionne kit is bolt on. It takes about a half hour to install. I'm 6'2 and needed a bit more room for my legs - presto! Much more comfy on the long rides. The foot controls end up slightly farther away (also works for me) but you get used to them fast, and I don't hit the controls by accident anymore. If you have little feet it may be a reach for the controls but for $15 give it a shot. At worst if you don't like it put the pegs back where they were. Ryan
  3. You want 98 Kawi ZX6 rubber top foot pegs (maybe other years?? don't know not a kawi guy). Also will require a bush as hole size is different. Tons around - just go to a Kawi dealer and ask the parts guys if you can root around in their old peg bin. Look almost identical to the Guzzi peg but have the rubber top. cheers, Ryan
  4. Ouch! Yup, sounds like it is stripped alright. I did the same thing on my 57 Chev pickup. I know they make larger/self tapping plugs for auto use but for an Italian bike? Not so sure. Some possible options to buying a new pan: 1. Helicoil - if you can find out the size of the drain plug (assuming this part is not stripped) threads you can purchase a helicoil kit that contains a "spring" like bit and a thread tap. Drill out the threads in the pan using specified drill bit, use tap to cut new threads, twist in helicoil which then leaves you with new stainless threads that will not strip again. 2. Find a size larger plug and drill and tap the hole for use with the new plug. Stay away from the "thread reformers" ie any kit that gives you a JB Weld type of metal epoxy. These kits claim to restore threads but I have used a few and they do not work well, make a huge mess, and would make me very leary about trusting my girl's life blood with. You will want to address this soon :!: :!: :!: If it will spin fully inserted, then it will most likely work its way out in short time. I'm sure others may have some good ideas too! Good luck! Ryan
  5. Instead of a chisel, just drill the spot weld out. Leaves a small hole that is easily rotated to hide and doesn't make the mess a chisel does. I did this to reuse my clamps. Ryan
  6. Kids, Al??? Where do you find time for kids....??? Ryan
  7. Hey Antonio, Your tank protector is installed sideways! (for those who have asked why the chin pad is so low on the tank....)
  8. Thanks, Antonio! But really there should be more pancakes... Rj
  9. I like what you've done to the intake, but what are you doing with the exhaust? Rj
  10. OK enough of this .... let's get back on topic. It's 10:19 AM here. I'm gonna need a lot more than time to get right. Rj
  11. I paid $250US for a nice used set of aluminum round Mistrals. IMHO they sound much better and a bit quieter than the CF versions I have heard. They sing real purdy! Rj
  12. He'll probably pry it off anyway, maybe in search of more fuel capacity... Rj
  13. if that's what you kids are callin it these days... That road looks like a map of this thread! Rj
  14. I don't have a gorilla. Will dog snot work? Plenty of that... Rj
  15. I have a setup that works. Palm is an M130 which is the color screen version of the M125 I think. You can pick these up cheap on ebay. Color screen is nice but unnecessary. any of the m100 series works well with the serial PCIII. You will also need a "dynojet palm adapter" which I bought for a ridiculous amount of money. It is really just a null modem adapter with a couple of pins cut off. Lastly you need the serial cable from palm for the device you are using, to connect from palm to PCIII. Great little portable system - lets you run on a mileage map when touring, but can load the fun map for the twisty bits, or the 2 up map when with pillion. Ryan
  16. Thanks Derek! Exactly what I wanted to hear... ballpark from other riders. I'm significantly larger (6'2, 210) but the info on the shock is just what I need. The new shock is here and I'd like to rough set it before it goes on the bike. cheers! Rj
  17. Has anybody used a GPS to check their speedo accuracy? How accurate are the GPS units? A friend of mine uses one on his old Triumph and is planning on using it in his homebuilt airplane. Ryan
  18. Hey TX, Been meaning to ask you... How do you hold yer beer and yer gun and work the throttle? Yer not pullin over to shoot signs are ya? That just wouldn't be Texan like! Love that tool shed! Backwards? I believe the term is "bass Ackward"! Too much fun! Rj
  19. Italian girls gotta have Italian shoes!
  20. My adjuster was frozen when I tried to adjust it. A bit of lube and a bit of easy back and forth wiggling and it started clicking. There was no info in my manual on how many clicks there were from low to high so I turned it all the way down, then all the way back up. At that point it would back down a couple of clicks then just unscrew from there. My warranty replacement arrived this week so in a week or two I'll get it installed. Then I can resume trying to set up my suspension in hopes of eliminating the speed wobbles. I read through Todd's (guzzi power) instructions for setting up the v11 suspension but they seem to be for the White Power shock. I'm sure I'll sort it out... cheers, Ryan
  21. I didn't realize this was a Harley forum... Those hogs need more chrome and fringe!!!
  22. I can give you direct feedback on three of the things you mention. My 2001 v11 has been transformed! 1. Stucchi cross - I bought a "rejected" one for cheap thinking I could bend it to fit. It did not fit my stock pipes (one pipe was about 10 degrees away from the bike) but when I put the mistral pipes on they were a perfect fit. No bending was necessary. What it did do was ELIMINATE that power dip at 4500rpm that was a real burr in my ass! Smooth right on through. Even with stock pipes (rode for a day with a spacer mounting the "off" pipe). Fit has been an issue with these. 2. FBF lidless - another great mod. turned the bike ito a heaving gasping beast! Great sound, you can really hear the air flowing into the engine. 3. PCIII - made it all work, now it idles without stalling when I get off the highway, no more backfires, no more running lean. Just smooth power through the band. I may dino tune it yet but the map I got from Todd was the ticket! adding the mistrals to the package and the bike now does all the things I hoped it would when I bought it. good luck!

    MPG?

My 01 sport was horrible when I got it new. Less than 100 miles to a tank - my car was getting better mpg. It has gotten better as the engine loosens up (now around 5000mi). I had the local guzzi shop play with it trying to get better mileage but all they were able to do was lean it right out. It still was only around 150 miles to a tank before I was into warning territory. And that was conservative use of the throttle (in my opinion ) I just finished putting in a Power Commander which I hope has enabled better tuning and mileage but have no results untill better weather arrives. I also added a few performance upgrades, so I might have cancelled out any mileage gains... For comparison, I went on a 4K mile trip this summer with a fellow on an 01 Lemans (maybe 02 - forget) and he was getting significantly better mileage. Some seem to get very good mileage, others are attrocious. I have talked to a few people and there doesn't seem to be any consistency... cheers, Rj
  24. Thanks Al, I'm a heavy rider and was trying to adjust the Sachs because of the regular speed wobble when I pull out to pass and punch it. I would love to upgrade to WP or even better Ohlins but the cost is just way too drastic right now. I'll keep an eye on ebay... I never search for 1100 stuff but I will now! Rj
