  1. Wow! She’s-a-bella! If I were to have a second spine frame to compliment my Greenie, that bike would do it. The long frame, the Ohlin, and the RED! That bike is hot!
  2. Looks like Stihl chainsaw orange. Why? The rest of the bike looks bloody great!
  3. They look very complimentary on your LM! That smokey gray is a great color. I wonder about black pads on a greenie tank. It could set it off nicely or clutter and take away from the awesome green mass of the tank.
  4. Looks good. I’ve been thinking about putting the clear protective film on my tank, but maybe this is a better way to go, actually get some performance benefit with the protection. Is this safe for the paint finish? Does it come off with no harm done? Btw, where did you get the Moto Guzzi tank guard?
  5. LowRyter, thank you for making it happen! The bracket is very nice.......the paint job is aweseome.
  6. It’s been a while, but just to follow up: Don has the brackets. I just received mine. $42 plus shipping. It’s not much of a kit, just the bracket and four bolts. The bracket looks great, nicely painted red! I’m still wondering how to get the stud bolts out to use the bolts that came with the bracket, or a longer stud bolt. I’ll probably start a new thread to ask about how people have installed these.
  7. Here’s a rare bird. Looks like it just left the nest: https://ventura.craigslist.org/mcy/d/oak-park-1999-moto-guzzi-v10-centauro/7118509855.html
  8. Here’s a question for those of you who have installed the bracket: looking at the two top engine case bolts where the bracket attaches, at the juncture of the engine and gearbox case, the nuts are pretty flush with the ends of the bolts. So, when adding the bracket and introducing the additional 3/16” or so thickness of the bracket, what is needed to secure the nuts and bolts properly? Looking at the parts diagram, it looks like the bolt is a stud bolt that can be extracted from the engine case, and would then be replaced with a longer stud bolt? How difficult is this to do, considering the tight quarters down there? I had figured that to add the bracket would at least require removing the side covers and air box, maybe lifting the tank up. Now I am wondering about removing and replacing the engine case stud bolts, and what all is entailed with that. Can one even do this without removing the gear case from the engine case to get the stud bolt out? Maybe I am imaging it to be more work than it actually is......that would be nice.
  9. I’ve got a call in to him. Will try again tomorrow and report back once I know.
  10. A red frame with an Ohlins front end? Sweet!
  11. Here’s a better comparison to show the difference in asymmetry. Close, but no cigar.
  12. Here’s a few more pics of the Centauro bracket against a metric scale (P/N GU37202805): By adjusting the size of the image of the V11 bracket on my screen to match the size of the earlier bracket that I have on hand I can see that the earlier bracket has more top hole offset / asymmetry.
  13. Thank you very much, docc. I really appreciate you posting the link and the pic. That’s what I was looking for but couldn’t find it, even after searching. No need to go any further, I can see that the brackets don’t match. The top holes on the Centauro bracket have a greater offset than the V11 bracket. Bummer. I think the Centauro had the 5 speed gearbox. I know that Motiv Cycleworks in OK was making the bracket for V11’s at one time (not sure if they’re still offering them). Was hoping that I’d save a little money with this one. If anyone needs a Centauro / 5-speed gearbox mounting bracket (P/N #GU37202805) let me know. I have the frame, too, if anyone needs it, but no title.
  14. I have found an upper transmission mounting bracket — the bracket that attaches the top of the transmission housing to the frame — from a salvaged Centauro 1000 frame (the frame number I.D.’s it as Centauro 1000 1997-1999), and I am wondering and hoping that it is the same bracket that fits on a 2001 V11 Sport. From the various on-line parts catalog images I’ve found the parts numbers are different between the models, which is a bummer as I had hoped to be able to put this bracket on my bike, but I’d thought I’d run it by you guys in case someone might know. This bracket is approximately 6” wide on the bottom and 1.5” wide on the off-set top edge. I recall seeing a picture here some place of a bracket off of a V11, with dimensions, but I can’t seem to locate it. Here is a pic of the bracket off of the Centauro: Thank you for any insight you can offer!
  15. To paraphrase something that someone said earlier, “that’s the percussion section of the orchestra!”
  16. Nico, my clutch makes the same loud rattle when pulling in the lever / disengaged. It goes away and becomes quiet immediately when releasing the lever / engaged. This is normal for the Guzzi dry clutch, no? Does the rattle persist on yours after the clutch is engaged?
  17. Welcome! The bikes look great and a great backstory, too. That’s so cool that the Guzzi muse found you while in Lake Como / Mandello Del Lario! This place will totally enable your Guzzi-love. More pics, please. Tell us about the Greenie’s exhaust. Chrome and green look great.
  18. Thank you for your responses. It’s quite helpful to hear. Btw, Helimot sells the Daytona boots for around $350 USD, which seems like a pretty good price. I’ve emailed them and Helmut seems like a good guy. I know I’m supposed to stay at home as much as possible, but I can’t help but take advantage of the great traffic conditions right now and ride. Am I bad for this? It’s definitely a form a maintaining social distancing. I keep at least 2 seconds behind the vehicle in front of me!
  19. Are any of you good folks wearing Daytona motorcycle boots? I am curious on their fit and sizing. My daily footwear are Redwing 8” work boots which I can get in a narrow / B width. I don’t know if Redwing boots are made on a wider than normal last, but the 11.5 B size in Redwings fit me great. On all other footwear I can be from 11 to 12, narrow to wide, depending on the shoe. The Redwings are also my riding boots, but I’d like to acquire some proper riding boots, and the Daytonas look to be good, with Gore-Tex and all. I’ll have to order from Helimot so I can not try them on first, and I don’t look forward to the process of trying and returning and trying again, etc. Helimot also carries one Daytona model in various widths. It’s a long shot, but have you worn Daytonas and also Redwings? Any guidance would be great. I am guessing that I am going to be either a 45 or 46, regular or narrow. Any thoughts on the boots? I’ve never had a pair proper motorcycle boots, I’ve always worn work boots, engineer boots, or ropers. Hope all is well and everyone is okay! Thank you!
  20. So good to hear that your girl is alright. Sorry about the bike. This V11 exhaust system has been on the local CL for a while: https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/mpo/d/los-angeles-moto-guzzi-v11-sport-full/7092056499.html I have no affiliation with or knowledge of the seller and whether or not he/she will ship, but I thought I’d pass it along in case it works for you. Sounds like your daughter has a nice stay at home project to do. Good luck!
  21. The longer that this new normal goes on for, the less likely the next normal will be like our old normal. I hope that people discover and sustain self-reliance and an appreciation for each other. How long did people keep their Victory Gardens going after WWII ended?
  22. The freeways are pretty clear and flowing nicely all day, something that usually only happens in the middle of the night. Someone told me that the waters in the Venice, California, canals have become clear again, and that for the first time in years dolphins have returned to the canals. It shows how resilient the environment is and how quickly it can bounce back from the impositions of human activities. We’ve also had three days of steady rains which is quite nice and badly needed, and makes staying at home a bit cozier. Best wishes to all of you and yours!
  23. Me too. Also the pipe wrench and chisels. I think docc is a very clever and resourceful guy. Like the song goes: he does it his way!
