Tired of frequently having to tighten the kickstand bolt, I decided to replace it. To do this, I had to remove the left-hand exhaust to make enough space to take out the Allen bolt and replace it with a hex head. It was also the perfect opportunity to remove VroomHilda's skirts, which I had been wanting to do for a while. Not only does this allow me to showcase the engine, but it also gives me easier access to the oil dipstick and several other components, all while streamlining her appearance. I love the new look and have been building up the courage to make this change for years. Remember: measure fifty-seven times and cut once!

Because peeps come looking for information and I had no other experience with Guzzi other than my first RED Norge, I thought it if was interesting to me it might be interesting to others how the two compare. They are worth about the same money these days it seems if someone were looking for one what to expect even as it is completely subjective on my part.

Lucky enough to get out on two rides today and have comparison. Those that have both will know what I mean by my statements. Motor - The Norge seems "softer" though it makes a lot more power. I believe it is 25 more HP. The EV seems to pack more torque right off the bottom. I can see why some used this to tow with. Everything is more "Deliberate" on the EV. Comfort and Controls - Hands down the Norge. VroomHilda just fits me just so. The controls all fall to hand easy and so does neutral via the hyd clutch. If I were traveling this is the bike. other bikes will do 80, the Norge WANTS to do 80 and easily so. The EV (Evie) Like riding high on a big ole tractor, especially since I think I have the touring bars and now installed 1 inch up and 1 inch back Amazon Risers to ease my aching back on the stock seat. Love the floor boards now that I have adjusted the brake pedal to just roll my foot up to reach the brake. Feels just like my HD Dresser days. Still have to lift to use heel toe shifter as on the HD. On EV I Installed the OEM touring chrome mounts and Hepco and Becker Bags. Mucho better than the Norge bags. I wish they opened from the top. Passenger comfort. G/F like the wide pegs and seat way more on the EV. No contest. Gas mileage - EV, a lot better. Ease of Maintenace - EV. After doing open heart surgery to get to the darn oil sending sensor on The Norge, I was delighted to see it in sight a few inches away Left hand motor easily reached for if ever I need to on the EV. Way less computerization to worry about. I can actually read the analog old style speedo and tach on the EV. GF asked which ya gonna keep? Answer - both for now. Maint Tip - Used some Novus fine scratch polish on both EV and Norge headlights, windshields and gauge faces and they look like new! Unreal and very happy with outcome.

I'm truly enjoying the work I've been doing on this 03 EV so far. Today, I installed the risers, and tomorrow, my HB panniers with mounts are set to arrive. While polishing the bike after I installed new front and rear tires, adjusted the clutch and fast idle mechanism, flushed the brakes, and checked the pads and oil levels. I also installed a new battery. I can see why I’m so drawn to this bike. Everything that needs attention, like the oil sending unit, is easily accessible—unlike the extensive effort it took to change things on the Norge recently. I still need to drop the oil pan, which I'm not looking forward to. I have GuzziDiag, but I'm uncertain about what I can do with it on this model since the throttle position sensor (TPS) and throttle body sync (TBS) are set up differently than on the Norge. Many former owners of these bikes have expressed regret about selling them years later, which makes me understand why this model has such a dedicated following. Some knowledgeable enthusiasts even describe it as a joy to own and possibly one of the best engines Guzzi has ever made. Besides cleaning the spokes on the wheels and installing the soon-to-arrive used Hepco Becker 40 bags and mounts, the bike is ready to hit the road at speed! -

There is a 99 EV11 Cali with saddlebags having 40K Miles on CL for $2500 in your neck of the woods, down southern Oregon. On the MGnoc page - I was just lucky to find one much, much closer and way better bike. https://www.mgnoc.com/classifieds.html. Good luck and thanks! -

I am now the proud owner of a low-mileage, fully recall-compliant Hydro 03 EV, purchased from its original owner in Seattle. The paint and chrome are in excellent condition, but I look forward to addressing the long delayed maintenance. So far, the only physical issue is the high position of the rear brake, which requires me to rest my heel on a nub to modulate it. Being a hands-on person, I plan to change the oils, inspect the brakes, and replace the tires and battery while reacquainting myself with the older electrical and fuel injection systems. I’m also looking for a locking set of saddle bags to compliment her livery. Any info on oils and tires etc or maintenance tips will be appreciated. This Hydro 03 perfectly complements VroomHilda, my 2007 Norge. I sit in the Norge and feels like on top of the Cali so might me looking to change to another seat in the future. They are only 4 years apart the Norge and the Cali but worlds apart in totality.

-
We finally made it through two hours of busy Seattle 405 traffic to our small Guzzi dealer in Bellevue to sit on a V85 Travel, but I was more interested in the 2024 Stelvio sitting next to it! It was more comfortable to sit on than the 2025 V85 TT Travel and had lots of electronic goodies to play with. My frame of reference is two DL1000 Vstroms with 45,000 combined riding miles. The V85 sat taller than I expected for some reason. I am not a weak guy, 5-9 and 200 lbs of previous competitive powerlifter strength, but lifting the 24 Stelvio off the sidestand felt heavier than I expected. I actually felt most comfortable on the V100 set with the handlebars and low seat. It felt very similar to my Norge in comfort. This was the S model with semi-automatic suspension, which I really want if I purchase something new. Decisions, decisions. My girlfriend is encouraging me to buy a new motorcycle so I can work less on the Norge and have more time for other things. To consider buying new with a warranty after two hours in bumper-to-bumper traffic and traveling less than 60 miles, I really have to think hard since the BMW dealer is only half the distance if I go that way, and of course, Harley-Davidson is nearby, though known for the worst reliability with the Pan America. Or find a late model out of warranty. The new water-cooled engine is so compact and clean-looking in person. I was not impressed by pictures alone, but sitting in one and looking at it, they are beautiful in their own new way.

I installed a 12V DIGITAL LED meter on my 2007 Norge without fiddling around or tapping into the wiring, using a direct connection from the battery. This also fixes the always-on problem or parasitic drain, thanks to a touch-on and touch-off feature built into the meter. It cost $5 US from Amazon. I used a hole saw to cut into the upper flat part of the Norge fairing and ran the wiring directly from the battery. clicky>> https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Voltmeter-Digital-Waterproof-Motorcycle/dp/B0CQ881B52?gQT=1&th=

Hi Pete, Thanks for the clear, concise, and straightforward explanation. Not a hint of rust, and the original owner kept it with perfect paint and untouched patina of resting grease under the tank around the miscellaneous hoses and TBs. He hasn't synced anything since MI in Seattle had hands on it, but not since 2015. He knows how to change the motor oil. Asking $3900 US, but I wanted to be sure before moving forward. From what I’ve seen, EV prices vary widely now, from $1200 to $3900. I'm thinking a bit less since it needs a thorough going through, saddle bags, tires, battery, all oils, etc. Looking forward to using the adjustable suspension forks with a good set of shocks. Started right up with all that old gas in it and ran so smooth. Surprisingly. My GF thinks I have gone round the bend with *Another Guzzi?

I finally got to ride an 03 EV Hydro - One that is for sale. Original owner who no longer rides, has about 28K miles on it. I know it has has the clutch recall done as I inspected the clutch plate thickness and have the paperwork from MI in Seattle where it came from. Triple tree looks good also as I inspected. What I can't prove or disprove is has this engine had the valve train recall done. I lifted the valve cover and took a picture. He thinks it was back from back in 2006 can't recall and has no paperwork showing it has been done but paperwork showing it needs to be done before it dropped off the service orders back in 2015. Here are the pictures. Can anyone inform me from looking? I found one picture on the internet that has the cut off nut fasterers painted with RED paint post recall. Was this the way to tell for all dealers? Thanks for any info. It rode well and sounded good to my ears and owning a Norge that felt much different to ride. Enjoyable none the less and would seem to be alot simpler to maintain and work on. But I digress. I cannot consider this 03 Hydro if it has not undergone the recall from all that I have read. Thanks for any info you have.

07 Norge Sachs shock rebound adjuster now spins freely without stopping? I accidentally turned it a bit too far, and the small bb that causes the click inside the rebound still functions, but it spins endlessly.I have my old stock unit for parts to replace it, but I cannot figure out why it spins endlessly. Did I somehow "flatten" a ramp inside? Can it be fixed? How do I remove the working unit from the used shock and install it on the new used model installed on the 07 Norge? It seems to be a press fit, but why it won't stay or how to fix it is unknown at this time. I have the SAG adjusted perfectly but rebound is unknown.

Lance Weil, Real MC racer - (RIP) of Rickey Racer Laverda in Costs Mesa CA threw me the keys to a RGS to test ride many years ago - and off I went. Powerful engine and tough clutch pull on very stump pulling motor as I recall. Not a popular MC back them amongst the KZ and GS 1000's we were riding back in the day. Good times. He could out ride all of us on a Morini 3 1/2.

New Tonti frame 03 Cali for me?

Seems that there being 3 fixes for a valve problem that simply did not need to be hydraulic since adjusting is so simple. Why it was over in 2 years of making. -
New Tonti frame 03 Cali for me?

Thanks for your input. I am a bit intrigued with the idea of owning one, always have been. -
My GF thinks I am a bit round the bend wanting to get an (another even older Guzzi) EVEN older 2003 Cali touring after all the work I put in on my 07 Norge. I know little to nothing about the Tonti world. Looking at picking up 03 Cali touring with floor boards and bags from Original owner that has been sitting unused for 7-8 years with about 25K miles. Speedo is broke as is the norm from what i understand. ** Easier to work on then Norge? How is overall reliability compared to the CARC models? I am a GuzziDiag kinda guy and love the idea of FI, tubeless tires and floorboards again for comfort. My Norge is not as comfy as I once was with this "older" body of mine. I asked for service records and proof of the recall on Hydro valve. I know little else at the moment.

I recently spent near 3 weeks in France and Italy at ridiculously priced and ill managed AB&B's. Never again. Crowds, over priced and clear that many of these owners are not prepared to service the retail public as I was pained no matter where I was whether in Nice, Marseilles, especially where I wound up fixing their HVAC ductless and believing there are no building codes as well as Bologna and Venice Italy where it is ALWAYS too crowded and the non stop smoking of cigarettes. WHY I am done with that kind of travel.
