You guys are driving me nuts! I have to do a retro project now, or at least that California>1100S conversion. To top it off, I rode a Thruxton (with free flowing Staintune pipes & Flat-Slide carbies = BIG difference!!) today & absolutely loved it! - how stable do you want that front end - aaaawesome. the cafe racer itch is toooooo bad......

3 in Oz. here's one: http://www.bikesales.com.au/as/search/s.do...0¤tPage=2 email them for details (#s). n_s_S!
-
ahhh gotcha, thanks Paul

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...Y_BIN_Stores_IT so they started with a sport1100? then put on twin shocks directly to the axle? where's the battery, makes my bike look very ordinary...
-
I read your '3' is the pick of the bunch as it has lighter pushrods... so that would explain a little.... & can match an 850 in sport mode

did later Sports also benefit from LeMans changes

Oh so the Rosso Mandello is a shorter wheelbase one as well? I thought it was like a Scura with Marz suspension. I am keeping an eye on one here: Rosso Mandello He says clutch replaced only because was slipping... after dealer attempted factory recall (or adjustment) - don't know what this is about... -
OK, so Mandello Rosso has same clutch (but perhaps 'different' flywheel?)

Did the 2002 Sports benefit from final drive changes?: http://hiwayrollers.com/?inode=190

what? & they're going to tell us the Thruxton is not too heavy (or slow?) , looks good but what else? yep we get it...... even on a V50 !

V50III !!! how simple how raw pure motorcycling fun, just kept riding & riding with no real destination, unitl I got a phone call....from the owner! - ported & flowed head - Staintune exhausts - de-linked brakes heres to the little Goose....thanks for the therapy.

I want one! Though I would more than settle for a 1000S.
-
right! who said the 'S' word?! that's a fighting word .... (um anyone else gonna pretend to hold me back? )

I can testify that having COMP + REB on different forks on my KTM Duke does nothing to degrade the handling, off course this bike is light... I also agree there there is a lot that can be done to improve the Marz..., I mean having M1R forks on my 907 was a revelation! maybe , it's the sheer choice & ease of getting something 'better'. This sums it up for me: I would rather buy the Ducati Sport1000 over the PaulSmartLE on suspension alone, the "cheaper" Sport's suspension simply worked better on the road... with the riding I did (on the road). I just realised I crapped on verbatim....but sometimes I do these things... in the name of bling get whatever you like... in the name of science see how well you can sort out the standard suspension.

don't worry about the purists, getting your Guzzi flying again is the 'pure' thing to do. All the best.

OK OK Trying to kick & push start a Kawasaki KR1 for 1/2 hour, frantically running & jumping on the bike in a gravel carpark ....tired ..... sweaty ....."I could kill someone!" ...... err or I could flick over the "kill" switch

What would you like to know? - it feels like you are spinning the wheel with your hand (that's how the twist on the grip relates the power sent to the wheel ) - the ride position is quite comfy, the wind blast at highre speeds is perhaps not. - the engine has a snarl that makes you know you are on a special bike (however I did'nt care that much for the 'cam' noise - similar to a ZX10-R. - you can actually putter around & then unleash the horses - you surprise yourself that you can ride so quickly, and how this bike has turned you into some sort of silly stunt god... - it's what a modern take on a V-Twin can bring, and has created it's own category...it really has. top marks for first real road bike attempt.

I went & test rode a XB12R today..... I really wanted to like it.....I have never been so disappointed with a bike WHILE test riding it. Maybe it really NEEDS that racekit, it was so slower to rev up compared to the Scura. However, I know I SPOILT the test ride as yesterday I rode the KTM Superduke....again.... I know it is unfair to compare a 'modern' v-twin to a not so modern one....So.... I did'nt compare! I took the Buell on face value, looks great, interesting, flcikable, it should reward with it's 'own' style of ride....right? Lastly, perhaps I i am disappointed because it pretends & is marketed to be something it is'nt. Trackability - first rate, brakes - good, that aweful sound (is the engine OK under there?,the heat on your right leg, 2000KMs on the odo...that's good enough right?) The Buell seems held back by that engine & gearbox.... while not providing any nostalgic trip like some makes' engine configs. sorry....there maybe another reason Moto Guzzi uses that age old engine (besides not having money) - it's a a classic in the true sense, only 90 horses - but each of them THOROUGHBREDS!

I'm just glad the sport 1100 is so good (with FCR - yum). I just wish I could find one in Australia.

was that 'sex on the sex on 2 wheels?'

well OK you asked for it, he said - verbatim - "now I know how shit my bike is". now..I like the Buells- a shot of a Firebolt exiting a corner does it for me - sat on but have not ridden one though, but I have ridden the SuperDuke & it has entirely created a new bike category! , cruise slow, go stonkingly fast, but alll EASY to to get that peformance out of. It is a VERY impressive first attempt at a roadbike by KTM. Enjoy the Buell, & please do a mini write up for me.......oh & when you get a chance...ride the SuperDuke (that request is my gift to you!) but be warned one of your bikes might have to go OR you will need to extend mum's garage
