ahh... I did the same, Sold the Scura but had to keep the Duke. The buyer was already planning a ride longer than what I was doing in a year... sad, but still happy with my Machiato Duke - sometimes you need full cream coffees, sometimee short blacks. maybe the Griso will be for you when you need a l o n g black? till then it's SuperMoto time.

go for it man, talk about bike bonding. don't lick the tank! I expect a full report on ride, handling, stopping, vibes, fun, style, compared to a V11.

firebolt... in Black from all the colours (colors) I have seen. I take it you have ridden & love the thing?...fair enough.... only asking because an italian guy test rode the KTM Superduke (current Buell Lightning owner) at my local bikeshop... & then said...welll actually never mind what he said. just enjoy your bike.

* is the small 4Valvee a gamble? * easy enough to make it more cafe racer(ish)? * is a V50 III a better bet? seems to have decent performance - this particular bike I am looking at (around 60HP with 170KG to haul around) need to scratch the 'small-block' itch. thanking you not_scooter_Scura!

I thought it was 'Birmingham Small Arms' - yep made guns some while back.
-
did you test ride the Thruxton? was the power simply to low down the scale even by classic standards?
-
very very nice... only my GTV Turbodelta would make me feel as good
-
ahh the Yugo - on the cutting edge of serbo-croation technology!!
-
yep you got it... it had to be an Alfa as well for me. for the price , the performance & character it's hard to beat. first a $3000 Alfetta GTV (always took the long way round), then a 1972 105 & now an absolute performance & luxury bargain black, manual, 164. (last of the Alfa-Alfas if you know what I mean). Alfa V6s can be more exciting than other makes' V8s. never want to have a garage without some Alfa I have decided. same can be said of a Guzzi really thanks for the interesting post, I always love an excuse to chat about Alfa Romeo. n_s_S!

from ones I have ridden (bearing in mind the year it was introduced) 10. 1989 Ducati 906 - quirky, but the big Desmo was back! (had one in yellow, before ducati went all yellow...) 9. 1988 Kawasaki GPX 250,many good & simple reasonwhy this will become the longest produced Kwaka 8. Kawasaki KR1-S - well if I was building a 2stroke racer, this would be close to it, a real nutter of an engine with ZZR-600 brakes! 7. 1977 900ss , a classic racer...registered for the road, raw, instinctive 6. KTM 990 Superduke, not just the performance, but soooo easy to ride.....fast 5. Moto Guzzi V11 Scura - refined, but with an old world appeal, modern enough 4. 2003 Husaberg 650 - faaaaark!! , how was this registered learner legal?! 3. 1994 Ducati 916 - all it was meant to be, hard for me to overate 2. Moto Guzzi V50 III - light, flickable, undervalued...this is what pointed me towards europe 1. 2000 KTM Duke, single minded but still looks like a well designed concept bike, collectible in it's own right. all owned at one stage...

I'm with you Pete.... I mean that's what fast bikes do right... go fast on a racetrack. However put that performance in a Thruxton & maybe you'll have my attention. and why is the Triumph parallel twin to aneamic? just the same old design? n_s_S!

yeah , Mike has got me all buzzing about this Jackal > 1100S conversion. but all I can find are very new & very expensive Cali sports. but haven't been this excited since a full restoration on a 1977 900SS

got a V11 or older Guzzi for quick sale? please let me know. Need the V-Twin grin.
-
but you have to think in Italian, or is that Russian? I forget now...

It's that old saying: "it's worth what you can get for it" & we pay for the 'privelage', I am sure we get shafted with costs getting passed (& multiplied) along the way. But, when a price is set...& it eventually sells, the price simply stays up. Maybe it's a mentality thing, but when I say I paid 20K for a Guzzi - no one here goes "what?, how can they be that much" they just go "wow, it must be quite a bike" & you know what...it is not_scooter_Scura! 'down unda, Guzzi luva'

my take on it off course: 1. I don't think it even fits in that 'pack', & that is not a bad thing, handling above average, brakes very good for weight, performance - what you would expect from that engine design with a few concessions to modernity. It will be rare for the Guzzi to be tested against the bikes you mention because it is a very different take on motorcycling all together (yet very pure). maybe nore like this: http://bikepoint.ninemsn.com.au/portal/ali...topDefault.aspx I can direct you to a test on the Coppa Italia or a 'comparision' on the LeMans v. RSV Mille (that is a great little video). put another way.... you will have lots of fun trying to keep up with the bikes you mention & if you show them a clean pair of heals then you are very fast & very smooth, the way these bikes are meant to be ridden. 2. throb, definately throb, glorious old school v-twin , make you smile>>>throb...& that's not even the hand part of the anatomy can eat miles all day for me. n_s_S!

crazy MF!... -
yep, I know ....unbelievable If you are in Sydney, Australia you are in a for a treat. see ad & picture: here I still think people sell bikes, because they need the money, or something is wrong with the bike....I need the money! with all original gear as well, cannot be faulted, never had a single problem...ever! please, no time wasters...please this is painful enough as it is n_s_S!

I can upload the Google Earth app somewhere if you guys want, yep I got in before everone emailed everyone else about this... how cool is it? VERY...especially if you bookmark all your favourite roads (around the globe!) & let it play the animation starting from a satellite position. not_nasa_Scura!

so how does the Moto Guzzi V11 rate on my famous(?) coffee scale? if a short black espresso is the most finite of coffee experiences Lets see: - Husaberg Supermoto raw, aromatic, nothing you don't need for the essence of m/c fun. won't always fill you up though, may leave you searching for food. - KTM Duke , my 'other' bike also known as 'Machiato Duke' , touch of modernity, the 'true' meaning of the curve, does not pretend to be anything else. - Moto Guzzi Scura, ahh yes ,the full fat cappucino from the finest Gaggia coffee machine , not always calibrated properly, but somehow always satisfies, best before lunch, but can be taken as an all day picnic beverage - Griso , it's probbaly off the scale!, like one of those crazy asian coffee in a can type things , if you don't try it, you probbaly would'nt understand what all the fuss is about. - New Harley Fulldresser bought by a lawyer? please! decaf, double decaffeinated half caf...with a twist of lemon! Your take? additions?
-
man, let her go. You will make someone else VERY happy, & as you have pointed out, you got better out of your V7...so go with that & try something else. I could not fault my Scura....after owning 916s, KTM Dukes, BMW 1100s etc etc But on the other hand I don't think I could help you, because your bike primarily sounds like mine (without bits breaking off though - phew). I would however call my bike smooth, tractable, great sweeper handling, small flt spot easy to ride around.... you know....it's probbaly the Supermoto influence that make me think the bike is soooo smoooth ... ride on
-
Yeah...darn...just got it looking really extra cool too... but Sydney will be a supermoto city for now (KTM Duke) ... At least MG is really dishing out the classics once in a while...so I firmly believe I will keep going Goose every few years... Hey, if it was'nt for the V50III I would still be on Japanese 250s...(not that there is anything wrong with that! ) n_s_S!

WOW! now that I see more photo angles....iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii like it! FOX: can I have a look/ride when you get this?!!
