  1. I have the perfect way to fix the positional discomfort of your V11 Sport. You can take my Honda CBR 900RR out on the highway for 3 or 4 hours. It'll cost ya nothing, and you don't have to even turn a wrench. I guarantee you that you'll get on the Sport and it'll feel like a Cadillic! At 6'2 and 225lb it works for me, every time!

    Electrical

For sure check the ground-points~! That phenomenon was the death-rattle of the regulator/rectifier on a number of Honda models..... I hope it's not a similarly grave sign for the Guzzi.
  3. Well, lets say I share your taste in food, but not motorcycle design........ I take it that politics is either your vocation or your aspiration..... or it should be!
  4. It looks like the wiring for the DualStar heaters is designed for the stationary grips found on snow machines and Quads. Anyone have experience with their durability on the twist-grip of a motorcycle?
  5. I'll join that line for a CF Magni knock-off.
  6. Yup, setting the oil-pressure circuit does nothing...... still a 2 second pump run-time.
  7. Alright, if you take racial hatred away, what else are we gonna use to suport it?
  8. So................. Since the oil pressure ennunciator is simply an idiot light and the oil-pressure sensor carries only 1 wire the sensor must "swith-to-ground" when there is pressure. Ergo. ground the wire to the oil pressure sender and the Fuel Pump should run. Will report on this tomorrow. By the way......... anyone know of a source of a small in-line fuel-pressure regulator calibrated to 300kPa or about 43.5 psi? (No way I can let this extra gallon of fuel sit untapped in the right side of the tank!)
  9. I disconnected the regulator end of the fuel line and tried to pump out the gas tank. The pump ran for 2 seconds, expelling fuel, then quit. So, run-time is not simply a function of attaining system pressure.

    click noise

No similar "tick" happening at idle?
  11. I am a former Honda VFR owner, which bikes are known for their electrical problems, especially in terms of the charging systems. Apparently an ineffective ground-plane is thought to be responsible for the VFR's habit of devouring it's regulator/rectifier unit. A widely touted fix is the creation of a "wired ground tie" to electrically secure a common ground between all ground-points. This obviates the concerns for unanticipated chassis ground issues and only requires a few feet of wire and a few ground-lugs. It's an idea!
  12. IF anyone has a Quat-D that they'd like to part with, I have a pair of Mistrals that I'd swap.

    v11 essentials

Check your recall compliances. There are 2 possible for that bike. Shifter sleeve, which can apparently lock the transmission suddenly. Connecting rod, which the old con-rod bolts can apparently fall off, which can also ruin your day.
  14. Perhaps somebody's forgetting that guys like this made is so that somebody's not speaking German and wearing a funny moustache, right now.

    side stand

    I guess y'all didn't just trade up from a '72 Norton!!

    side stand

Of course I'm new to this consideration, having just taken possession of my V11 Sport, BUT what is the trouble with the stock side-stand, that has piqued the interest in these transplants?
  17. Maybe, Antonio...... but look where you live! BMW's are something of a status symbol here, because the $$$$ certainly don't buy the performance of the rice-rockets. Here, a Guzzi says "STYLE"........ er.. "eccentric".
  18. What??? No cracks about the bark-busters? Thing is, the Givi fairing is styled consistent with the modern lines of the Sport, unlike the conflicting retro-styled BMW bikini fairing. It's available, unline the beautiful Magni fairing. And it doesn't require a team of hacks to attach to the Sport, like any of the off-brand/fiberglass offerings for old Duc's or Bimmers. I think I'll try to impress the world by grafting on a CBR fairing from SharkSkinz next winter. I'm certain the Ital-o-Japendenso look will play to RAVE reviews! PLUS.......... come here and say that about the "prettiest Guzzi" ever designed!
  19. AL........ what are you talking about? 50% ?? Does this mean you can find me a GOOD, inexpensive Centauro?
  20. Al's right on with ALL of this. Right perspective and right bikes, but I'll add my caution about the SV. It's a lot of bike, and it's a very "sporty" riding position, which is a challenge for even a semi-experienced rider.
  21. John, a Guzzi has lots of character. It's not a toaster. If you want something you can plug in and go on forever, and then just turn off until you want to go forever again, you need a Honda. If you enjoy getting to know your machine and you like to look after maintenance issues yourself......... and you want a bike that you can recognize in a parking lot of motorcycles, the Guzzi is your ride! Take note......... this from a guy that drive a '86 Porsche 928!
  22. I added the Givi unit, from Harpers, and think it looks pretty OEM in terms of the flow of the lines.
  23. Anyone got a spare bar-end weignt for my 2000 V11 Sport? I am jettisoning the Napoleon bar-end mirror.
  24. A decent (and much easier) way to prep aluminum is to sand/etch the metal then prime with zinc-chromate primer. It works very well and is readily available.
