  1. I have recently changed those swingarm bearings. Damn, those are expensive things!! Not to mention the work! They were rusted in the swingarm, was a hell of a job to get them removed. Before the job I felt no play in the swingarm but when I dismantled the wheel, driveshaft and rearshock I could set the swingarm in any position. And it stayed there!! No wonder I crashed two (yes, 2) times on a same day. The rearshock couldn't do the job anymore and the tire melted like snow in the sun.
  2. These bolts should be torqued to 4 kgs. Even then you can still slide it off it's place when bevelbox uninstalled. I always wondered why they made it with 2 securing bolts?! I've been riding like this for 13 years now. So, just to confirm ratchet, nothing to worry about.
  3. I've been talking to an Öhlins specialist and he proposed me if there wasn't any Öhlins shock there to fit my bike he would simply make one. Same price as those shocks on the shelf. (Yes, that's the only thing that holds me...) Ohlins-rooske
  4. Hi Tracey, Can you measure, or do you know, the eye-to-eye length of that Hagon shock? Do you know the difference between the Daytona shock and the V11 shock (these are other ordering n°)?
  5. That rear shock is also my problem! Are you gonna change the position of the shock or just put a height adjustable one in? After conversing to a 180-17 rim, the rear end has lowered one full centimetre in comparison to the original 160-18. Now my rear WP is overhauled, the damping is just too hard for me. So I had to loosen the spring to get the wanted sag. Everything seems to work fine, but, the rear end is again lower. Together with the changed rake and angle from 26 to 24, once again I had to lower the front height. Too much, way too much, it's just not feeling right. The bike is way too low. I've asked around for a good height adjustable rear-shock but... way too expensive !! But of course, that is my problem, if you want a good running bike, you need the bucks!
  6. Hi J., I've been looking for this starter-button too some time ago. But the 'construction market' ring, small wires and the price made me look for something different. I found this at an electro shop for 17 euro. Very high quality and solide button that does the job perfect. Just in case you were looking for other solutions. By the way, keep going! You're making a dike of a motorcycle (free translation, haha)
  7. PillePillePille Jump on your bike and hit the road to Koolskamp. We'll have a beer and grease those joints.
  8. I've noticed, Gyles managed to win two races last WE.
  9. I did cut my shiftpeg in 2 pieces on purpose. Actually in 3 pieces and welded the 2 outer pieces back together, 2 cm shorter. I do have a much better feeling with the peg now, and no false gear changes anymore.
  10. Where is that smile on your face? Nice shots, especially first one. Mean lean angle!! I've been asking around where that brake-problem comes from. So far, no suitable answer.
  11. I just saw one race on saturday afternoon where he managed to be 5th after a stunning duel with the Vyrus (lovely machine). Gyles is one of the fastest, sure of that. Made a wonderful start, passed first round in second place. I'm sure others will complete his ranking.
  12. Just went to see Thunderbike competition in Croix, France, today. I thought this was going to be a small event but, my god, those British are the heart and soul of racing! The spirit there was overwhelming, loved it. Gyles is a great guy, so is his MGS-01 and his entourage. Great! That British Thunderbike competition is a wonderful setup. I really wish we had something like that. But don't get me wrong. These guys are going really fast, I mean really really fast. Keep up the good work, Gyles! It felt good to see a fast Guzzi racing.
  13. I'm aware of this one http://www.magni.it/kit-guzzi.htm In Europe there is no need for a belly-pan like this as the Guzzi has a horizontally split crankcase.
  14. How tweaked? About 25% power-output gain. In numbers this means 94RWHP instead of the 75RWHP Sport 1100 original. The early V11 has 76 RWHP measured on dyno. Later V11 a little more. You won't feel that 1 HP but more interesting is the weight difference between the Sport 1100 and V11 Sport, where the Sport 1100 is much lighter (talking about a carb-fedded engine) and that's what you feel on the roads. I didn't gain power-output only, but also some weight. More numbers; 1100 Sport = 0,375 RWHP/kg V11 = 0,345 RWHP/kg my Sport = 0,562 RWHP/kg What did I do to get this? Payed thousands of euro's to a specialist. In my opinion that's the only way to keep it running. So, is it suitable for the road? As I ride this bike for 13 years and over 100,000 kms, I would say 'yes'!
  15. V11 exhaust works very well on Sport 1100! All right, my engine is a little bit tickled but when I mounted the V11 exhaust (with Supertrapp mufflers and Stucchi crossover) the dyno showed 1RWHP more than the aftermarket free flowing 1100 Sport BOS exhaust. It's not the most beatiful solution, but it works
  16. At the mean time: New colors for season 2008
  17. Nice girl! How does the Ex-Box perform with a modified engine?
  18. The velcro-adjustable throw-over bags works fine and when you leave the motorcycle there is no ugly luggage rack. But for lack-protection it is better to use some 'Duck'-tape where the bags/belts hit the motorcycle parts. A soft mat can still rub the paint as sand and other debris gets between lack and bags or belts. It is still better to mount them 'not' touching the cans. The cans won't screw a hole in it but the exhaust-gases will.
  19. Nice job! By the way: why do you guys need a bellypan? I thought those pans weren't obliged for horizontally split crankcases like the Guzzi engine. And the Power Races are indeed great tires! What compound do you ride? I used soft/soft but the rear was really worn after 1 race! Maybe it was because of the high temperature that day.
  20. part n° for the 260mm rotor is 37635705

12:1 is a lot for a pushrod operated aircooled 2valve twin! My dealer didn't want to go any higher then 11:1, a question of reliability. And reliable it is as I have already over 100.000 km I hope you also changed the original rods for Carillo's! These mods turn your Gooze into a beast, don't they! Have fun and... we want pics of those wheelies
  22. No words But there are a lot of 'never used' engines at the factory!
  23. My God, that were THE race boots when I started thinking about motorcycles! Does that still exists?

Who the hell is nowadays riding a 1995 Yamaha FZR??! Well those discs fit your Sport! 25. So am I! Good luck to you, guys! I hope that race at Croix, 14-15 juin is also a Thunderbike session. I'll meet you there, definitely. Maybe I sent the organisation a mail, asking if I could participate this one. BROOOOAAAAAARGH Let the Gooze rumble!
