  1. Anyone know if a BMW R90S type fairing will work with the forward mounted headlight on the 04 Ballabio (Coppa)? Several years ago, JRT (whatever happened to him?) mounted one on his early V11 Sport and very detailed instructions are available on this site. I'm open to any other suggestions re fairings, particularly any "Airtech" products... below is a link to their "Vintage" fairings.   3. I would describe my sound as being a somewhat muted rumble. Very deep sound. Re quality. Being titanium, they are very fragile, subject to easily being dented, but otherwise I think they are well made. Except that they appear to be a little lopsided in their mounting as it is nearly impossible to get both parallel to each other and spaced equally from the rear wheel. I do like 'em though
  4. In an effort to ease accessability to the alternator cover I am going to eliminate the front crossover. A friend of mine who builds race pipes for Ducatis has offered to build a set of header pipes for my 04 Coppa. He has suggested using two inch pipes with a flange. By increasing the front header pipes to 2 inches will I need to do a Power Commander set up? FWIW my 04 Coppa has a FbF crossover installed, which at some point will be replaced by a Mistral. I currently have the MG Ti ECU installed, and the MG Ti exhaust pieces behind the FBF crossover are two inches in diameter. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

  6. I talked to the guy also re the bike... suggested he advertise it here. I dont think that you would have any problem registering it here in CA. If the cannisters are gone (which I doubt) you would be welcome to borrow mine.

  8. Like everyone else I got the message. I'll take it at face value, knowing that I'm not part of the problem. That makes it much simpler to be part of the solution.   9. Skeeve...I meant that I paid for my rally ticket using PayPal. Considering the beautiful scenery and wonderfulness of the general area, the $65 for two nights seems like a bargain. Plus getting to meet all you guys and seeing all the bikes and all the drunken hooliganism...cant hardly wait. But I'm gonna miss the all-but-promised fisticuff between PR and KH. Dang it all to heck!

  14. For the money Cortech makes a very nice set of bags, two sets actually. The smaller set is called the "Sport" series,and Ive forgotten what the larger (squarer) set of saddle bags are called. Cortech also makes two matching tailbags that integrates very nicely with their lsaddlebags. I have the larger of the two tailbags, which also works well with my Famsa saddlebags. Famsa saddlebags are very nice, but a little pricier than the Cortech bags. I tried to get the larger of their "Sport" series but that is no longer available. I settled for the smaller set, which is expandable and still larger than the smaller Cortech saddlebags, but seem to be more robust. The disadvantage of the Famsa bags is that the mounting seems to be a little more cumbersome than the Cortechs. Once mounted though, they look and perform very nicely.

  17. Thanks all for replies and advice. I checked to see if I had mixed L and R mid pipes. Unless I am overlooking something obvious (and that has happeded before) it seems to be impossible to confuse the two sides as the crossover slips inside the front end of the midpipe and the cannister slips outside the rear of the mid-pipe. If switched the pipes would stick out at nearly right angles to the bike. Anyway, I dissassembled the rear end, from the crossover back, and then reassembled it using a longer length spacer (between the footpeg hanger and the cannister clamp) on the left side. I also removed the MG luggage rack. I think the MG rack was to a great extent the cause of the pipes imbalance. If you look at my avatar photo you can see the rack. It is not obvious in the avatar, but the rack is not perpendicular to the centerline of the bike. I recalled that in order to install the rack I had to forcibly twist it in order to align the mounting holes to the upper end of the rear footpeg hangers. When I did get the rack mounted, the left footpeg hanger did not stick out as much as the right hanger. And of course the pipes mount to the lower end of the footpeg hangers. After I removed the rack I examined it and it is obvious that the left and right side are of slightly different lengths, see photo below. Anyway here are 'after' some photos. Unfortunately I didnt take any 'before' photos.
  18. I managed to mount a set of ART CF, oval cannisters from an RC51 onto my 04 Coppa. I simply slipped them onto the existing mid-pipes which I believe were part of the MG Ti set up. I'll post some photos of them soon, as they really are beautiful...a work of art you might say They sound like music, even deeper and louder than the MG Ti pipes they replaced. The MG Ti cannisters slipped onto the mid-pipes approx 1.75 inches, the ARTs only about 1 inch. The joint seems leak proof though, and solid enough. But heres my frustation (sorry to have kept you waiting with baited breath ) The ART cannisters set at different angles from each other, AND the left one (when viewing from the rear) is about 2 inches closer to the edge of the wheel. I suspect this has something to do with the Fast by Farracci crossover which I installed at the same time I lowered the MG Ti pipes last year. The Ti pipes also appeared lop-sided, but not to the extent that the ARTs are. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm considering switching crossovers. Stucchi? Mistral? Any ideas?

As interested in motorcycles (previously BMWs and now Moto Guzzis) as I've been for the past 3.7 decades, I've never been to a rally However I have been to a "mini-rally" at the Moto GP in 06 which consisted of a bunch of friendly folks seated at a park table over looking the racecourse, sharing beer, soft drinks, food and probably some tall tales. Still, it wasnt a proper rally, and come to think of it I was still on my Multistrada then. Proper rally or not, I had a great, albeit short time there and got to connect some faces to names. With the up-coming SoCal rally in Malibu this June I hope to meet a lot more of you great guys! So I'm wondering...in general, what are rallies like? Are they family-friendly affairs? Or are they semi-drunken semi-orgies with semi-nekked women running around? Are there lots of MG vendors hawking their goodies? Do most people rough it in the campgrounds or slink off to the local motels to soak in the hot-tub after a dusty day? If I show up in a car, will I be beaten and told to leave? Seriously, any input would be appreciated. Also, I live about 6 hours north of Malibu. If anyone needs a place to stop for the night, I might be able to help
