  1. Not so sure that is the only consequence...seems to me that on of our members wiped out his LeMans as the downed sidestand caused the bike to wobble and crash. Which is a scenario entirely plausable...I drove off with a downed sidestand ONCE on a Ducati (96 900 SS/CR) and it caught at about 10 mph and scared the hair right offa my head!
  2. Antonio....Sacramento is the capital city of California. BTW, what is the "S word"?
  3. For those looking to swap body panels... Gas tank: The older style (pre 02?) gas tank has an external fuel filter, the newer one an internal filter. Tailpiece: The older style tailpiece will not fit a newer (post 02?) rear subframe w/o some grinding and cutting, but the newer style tailpiece will fit the older rear subframe quite easily. These are Sport-to-Sport swaps. The fairing swaps (Lemans to Sport, vice-versa) are more difficult and several orders of magnitude beyond my comprehension. BTW...I have several post 02 (newer) body panels/tanks/wheels/headlight/fairing&windscreen and would like to swap for a Rossa/Nero Corse (or burgundy) gas tank if anyone is interested please PM me.
  4. No affiliation to seller...see here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MOTO-GUZZI-...sspagenameZWDVW
  5. GEICO: $419 per year. Clean record, 57 yr. old male.
  6. A BEER BEFORE IT STARTS... A man comes from work one day, turns on the TV and flops down in his favorite comfortable chair and throws his feet up. He says to his wife "Quick, get me a beer before it starts". She looks a little puzzled but brings him his beer. He drinks the beer and says to her, "Quick, get me another beer, its gonna start". She is a little irritated but does as he asks. He quickly drinks this one also and then says to her "Quick, its gonna start any minute. Get me another beer". The wife throws up her hands and yells..."You lazy ape, you come home and order me around getting beers for your lazy ass. Don't you know I stay home all day, cleaning up after you and the kids, mopping floors, cooking dinners and doing all the work around this damn house". The man quietly sighs and says..."Oh shit... its started."
  7. Did you check where the fairing bracket bolts into the headlight bracket? One single bolt, directly beneath the center of the speedo/tach cluster.
  8. I 'ready got my fix in for next month. Ya gotsta go to da back of the line
  9. One of my favorite night riding pleasures is riding in the winter "tulie-fog" here in the Central Valley (CA, USA). Tulie-fog hovers about 2-8 feet above the ground and the bottom surface is like a reflective cloud. Under such conditions the headlight's beam is reflected back down onto the roadway lighting everything up like a set of big PIAAs. Its incredibly surreal to see the road surface stretching out before you with a solid silver cloud skipping by just inches above your helmet.
  10. Look closely at the piece of wood holding Joe's tail lamp on: http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g280/jos...t/vfrv11009.jpg dlaing....please put the crack pipe down and step away from the keyboard Dude, that is a SKILLFULLY crafted piece of tiny-holed, gold-painted highly technical aluminum, engineered, designed, bent and shaped by the hands of a master craftsman.
  11. Brenttodd, As I recall (skating on thin ice here) the fairing and windscreen are Stucchi items, but I'm not entirely sure. This was my previous V11. Maybe some one else can chime in. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g280/jos...t/vfrv11009.jpg
  12. Jaap, I earnestly tried to maintain order and civility on the forum while you were away. Many others, like Antonio, brenttodd, belfastguzzi, dabores84 and macguzzi (just to name a few) were the instigators.
  13. I just had mine cut out...like this: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...ost&id=8118
  14. Motorcycle Consumer News (MCN) magazine just did a review on the V12S. As I recall, they liked nearly everything about the bike EXCEPT for the handlebars, which they felt were too low and forward.
  15. I had my wheels powder coated "Red Baron" red. Dont know the paint code, but I can find out Monday if anyone is interested. It was a very good match.
  16. Jaap...thank you for your efforts to save us from ourselves. Alas, your efforts have been to no avail. Does anyone know how to post pics of nekkidd women?
  17. No experience with Spencer's, but Rich has built two seats for me. He will go out of his way to make sure youre satisfied.
  18. OMG Here in the People's Republic of California I would probably be horsewhipped, tarred and feathered and then demoted for posting this on our department's website.
  19. Friday, 050208@1435hr. PST, holding steady at 26%. Twice the percentage for both HD and Honda
  20. I just voted...holding at nine point zero percent. I tried to vote twice
  21. On the reverse side of this topic...I have an earlier (narrow) V11 rear wheel that I'll swap for the wider V11 rear wheel. Or, will swap for a V11 front wheel. Or....for a carbon fiber rear hugger!
  22. Hi JHH. I think that someone, maybe you, should mount these Givi cases on their Guzzi. The bags are relatively new and there is no specific application for the Guzzi, so you would have modify the Givi brackets or fabricate them. On the up-side, the brackets should allow a tight fit as they seem to be shaped to flow nicely around the V11 tailpiece. The shape of the bags themselves also seem to blend nicely with the V11's (IMHO). I thought about attempting this myself, but....but I didnt. Anyway, see here: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/2807/69/ Another option (and I think an easier one) would be the HB Journey bags. These are factory options for Buells and are nicely made. Here ya are: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/636/335/ As always, I'm glad to encourage others to attempt what I'm too faint hearted to attempt myself
  23. Tommaselli grips with the finger rib (second set shown). Theyre now available in black only, but years ago they could be got in the natural rubber (like the top set). If anyone knows where I can get a set of the raw rubber with the finger rib, PLEASE let me know. http://www.renewaters.ca/ducati/grips.html
  24. Not wishing to test anyone's theory re a 2 inch pipe, I just decided to have my friend lop-off the section of each header where it joins to the cross-over and weld in a matching 1 3/4 replacement piece. It looks thusly
  25. Looks very nice...and I'm sure that it required a LOT of effort. I wouldnt worry too much about the rock-chips, just keep the speed below 28.7 mph and you will reduce the chance of a rock-chip by 96%.
