    I ride!

Glad to hear that all is now good. Before my Guzzi I had a Multistrada 620 with a 160 rear tire. I really liked the way it just fell into turns Effortlessly it seemed. I wonder if a 160 would fit on my 04 Coppa with the 5.5 inch rim(?).
  2. I agree with Docc. The Ohlins suspension is a big improvement and the Cafe's tubular upright bars are (at least for me) much more comfortable than the LeMans clip-ons. The clutch may be different (?), but the engine is the same ol' luvable lump Enjoy.
  3. Is it possible to mount the Journey saddlebags to a 04 Coppa Without the rear HB rack? Without moving the rear turn signals? Any photos of the Journeys mounted to a V11?
  4. Uh-oh...is Kevin H gonna be pissed!
  5. This tankbag is from FAMSA, an Italian company held in high regard on the www.multistrada.net site, but a bit pricey... No direct experience with any FAMSA products, although I am interested in the 308 saddlebags which have apparently been discontinued, at least unavailable here in the U.S. and doubly pricey to ship from UK where I've found a set. Anyway, on to the tankbag. It is listed as a Moto Guzzi V11 specific model, but shown here on an Aprilia Tuono. Somebody should buy one and do a write-up. Not me though http://www.helmetheadcyclegear.com/cgi-bin...Equipment_Italy
  6. Today I welded my dog to the garage door. That was kinda neat
  7. Quick response from urethanesupply.com "Joe, PA is nylon. You will want to get the ATV Pro Welder and some 5003R6 Nylon Welding rod. The kit comes with everything you need to do the repair (except the Nylon rod). You will want the Pro model for two reasons. It has a higher wattage element, which you'll want for welding nylon due to its high melting tempurature and it comes with some stainless steel reinforcing mesh which adds a lot of strength and helps seal pinholes. Let me finish by saying....Lucky you, owning a Moto-Guzzi, they are very nice bikes, super reliable too! Sincerely, Scott Bixler Product Development/Marketing 800-633-3047 Urethane Supply Company 1128 Kirk Road Rainsville, AL 35986-6038 USA" So I ordered the items today Tom...Thanks, my local KTM dealer seemed helpful, but said he would have to track down the info himself.
  8. If (a big "if") anyone is still following this thread, I'm in contact with the urethanesupply.com people to (1) determine what my tank is made of and (2) which of their plastic welding products I should use. Unfortunately it looks like a $250 outlay for the kit I might need Input is still sought and appreciated.
  9. Doing a little research and w/ thanks to Mike Stewart and others, I located this site http://www.urethanesupply.com/identify.php Also to clarify, the symbol on my tank's bottom is a triangle formed by arrows. Next to it is the printing PA6, which seems to indicate a polyamide, a type of nylon. And beneath this symbol is a small circle with 03 inside of it. Around the diameter there are 12 straight radiating lines (kinda like a clock) and 5 dots between the lines. I'm just guessing that this is some Italian industrial way of noting a production date in the 5th month of 2003 (?). Whoeverthoughtplasticscouldbesodamnconfusing?
  10. I located the source of the leak. It is a hairline crack starting at the most forward point of the front inner radius (next to the right side of the steering head), extending rearwards .5 inches and approx parallel to the bottom of the tank. Checked the bottom of the tank and aside from some MG part numbers I found PA6 printed. Does this mean anything to anyone? Jason, can polypropylene be welded? Wassp, you mention a "correct epoxy"...any ideas?
  11. When hot, perhaps opening the gas tank momentarily to break the suction might help. I dimmly recall doing that on my 01 Sport before I had the valve fixed.
  12. Thanks Paul, I'll check that when I get home.
  13. Ben, its just past 5 PM in Texas. Please stop drinking now, for your own safety
  14. Well, unfortunately it doesnt look like POR 15 is an option. The company rep said that it has been used on fiberglass, but he couldnt recommend it for plastic. Plastic welding is another choice (but not yet my decision). The welder I contacted needs to know specifically what kind of plastic my Moto Guzzi tank is made of. Does anyone know? Or know where I can go to to get this info?
  15. Kanoa...If Ive said it once Ive said it a million times... the red framed silver V11 Sport is one of the nicest looking Moto Guzzis ever made. And the Magni only serves to highlight that. Love yer bike Is the seat a Corbin? Covered in suede? BTW...I used to live in Brooklyn (60 - 63), just outside of Ft. Hamilton. Attended St. Patrick's Elementary School. Ha...lotta good that did me
  16. Hello GED 01... Do a search on this forum for "pod filters" and you will discover more information than you and three generations of your offspring could ever care to know...
  17. Joe...thanks for the advice. I just visited POR15 website and it looks like what I need. However, the site did NOT mention using the "US Gas Tank Sealant" on plastic tanks. Have you used it on plastic tanks? Also, any recommendations re the use of a "re-inforcing material" for exterior applications? I will probably patch from inside and outside as well. Thanks again
  18. Hi Jason. Thats the plan now. On the upside I did take the oppportunity to (1) remove the tip-over valve (maybe not a good idea considering my run of bad luck lately), and (2) install a BMW quick disconnect in the line next to the tip-over valve line. So...off to the races for the plastic weld.
  19. Several weeks ago I purchased a used tank and had it painted a beautifullly bright orange. Pulled off the Coppa tank and installed the orange one. I immediately noticed that the bike ran a lot faster (not really) and after 5 minutes I noticed an odor of....of gasoline. Checked the bike visually and saw a constant 5 second interval drip from the lowest edge of the right front side of the tank. Okay, figured I hadnt tightened averthing that I should have tightened so I pulled the tank and did that, STILL the dang drip! I was able to reach under the tank while the bike was running and could feel the connections at the two nipples. No leak there. No leak at the pump/filter hole. Turns out the leak is from the inside right front of the tank where I guess it suffered some "tank-suck" induced stress. Does anyone know if this location is prone to failure from "gas-tank suck". Edit: I'm not sure this is a "Technical Topic" and I actually meant to post in the "24/7 Forum"
  20. I just recieved this piece and it appears to be for the older style (handlebar mounted) fairing replacement, not the later Ballabio style mounting as I have on my Coppa. Oddly enough the '03 accessory catalog lists this as a "LeMans" accessory. Anyway, has anyone mounted this onto a Ballabio? If so, any instructions/advice would be appreciated. TIA, Joe
  21. After 5 years I've decided to clean my leathers (yeah...I know youre thinkin' its about damn time )..Anyway I'm wondering if anyone has some "do it yourself" suggestions. Its a two piece "Erbo" suit, black white and tan. Ive lost some weight and so I'm not too worried about some minor shrinkage. The armor is not entirely removable. I'd like to do more than a surface cleaning, as I noticed after virtually living in it this past (Moto GP) weekend that it was somewhat rank.
  22. Not sure if it is the RM red. I think it is the red used on the red/grey LeMans.
  23. http://www.sportcyclepacific.com/featureditems.htm Scroll down 1/3 of page. These valve covers are powder coated. I guess they should work on your bike(?)
