  1. Ya Steve, I am wondering why it still goes, a good thing. My bike is a 2000. I would also think that when the line is off, gas would pour out. And it doesnt ?
  2. I was looking at my fuel system contemplating the best cure for my vapor lock problem when I noticed one of the wires to the fuel solenoid is broken off. By the looks of it it has been that way for a sometime. The bike runs fine, except when I have the vapor lock I posted about yesterday. What should I do about the wire. I guess the valve is in the open position or it would'nt run. Would it be possible for it to close unexpectedly? Should I disconnect it alltogether?
  3. What do you do to get going in 15 min?
  4. Ya this sounds similar. Only I pry the hose off slowly and it squirts gas pretty good.I dug into the threads last night and I'm thinking a fan or relocating the pump to the frame behind the oil cooler. I havent noticed the pump sounding weird, but that just means I not noticed. I plan on doing some high mi. this summer by my self, I'm getting a little paranoid.
  5. Rode 150 mi. today. Temp in the 90's. I got stuck twice with vapor lock. Once after a 20min. stop and once after a 2 min stop. Both times I disconnected fuel line and burped it waited 20 min and off we go. I raised the fuel line off the cylinder a while back I thought this would cure it, I guess not. any other cures?
  6. It's charging,13.11 at the battery at 2k and up any rpm, no dash light comming on I guess that is good. battery is not getting fully getting charged 12.62 after 15 miles I used to get 12.77. I hooked it up as per manufactures instructions. green to black ground wire. red to red and white to white side of plug. I wonder if my hawker is also going bad. I cleaned everything. I hope I did'nt waste $$ again I probbaly should have got the ducati one? I am about at the end of know how. Edit, went back and read full previous thread on this. I may wire direct to battery. Let me thinks boutit.
  7. Problem solved. I replaced regulator with one I purchaced from MPH. $139.00 www.electrosport.com It's bigger than the stock one, I had to cut one of the male connectors off the faulty one and solder it to the pos. wire on the new one. All plugs up nice. Its supposed to be better than stock, we will see. The instructions say it is designed to work properly and safley without the 30amp fuse. Mph said to leave the fuse in. May be this would help some of you that are having a melting fuse problem? Cheer!!
  8. Yea, not my first choice of places to stay. It add another 50 unwanted miles and messes up my planned route. I wanted to stay in Big Sur, All full . I am waiting for a cancellation. But I am always up for an adventure I'll make the best of it. The last night I want to stay in the Morro Bay, Pismo, Arroyo Grande area. Any good campgrounds or cheap hotels?
  9. Thanx for the road tips. I am camping at fremont peak between holister and salinas. Going home I'm not sure what would be a better ride. Heading back down the coast and going over nacimiento, down to the 46 and over to Lake Isabella. Or going strait down the 25 to 46 and over. Sound like you guys a quite familliar with both roads. I have'nt ridden either. It will be the end of July so It will probably be hot!
  10. I am looking at the manual and under Alternator, it says Check the winding isolation towards earth. Connect one connecting point of the meter to one of the two yellow cabels and the other to earth(laminar pack). I am assuming earth mean ground? what is the laminar pack?
  11. Thanx peoples, Sat. I will do all as prescribed and check back in .
  12. OK , looked at my CD manual the illistrations are pretty fuzzy. I guess I can figure out where things are but any help for dummys to speed things along would help. The fuze is fine I'll check all the wiring next. I need to sleep on it.
  13. So the battery is probably Ok? how do I check the charging system? Where is the regulator. the manual does'nt show location only a diagram of wires. I was just looking at another post looks like I may be in for a PIA.
  14. Please endure my ignorance I know very little of electronics. I have a digital multimeter (Is that a DVOM?)but I am not sure where to touch the leads to check charging voltage. I put the leads on the terminals. With the bike reved up to 3000 the meter read 12.77v Is this the correct way to do it? The 12.77 I guess is a bad sign.
  15. This morning I noticed my battery light was on up to 1,500 rpm. instead of the usual 1,200. I went for a spin at lunch and after the bike sat for about 15 min. I checked the voltage on the battery it was 11.68v. I rode 4mi or so back to work . 5 hours later I checked it and it was 12.45v. I rode home, the first 1/2 mi the light was on up to 4000rmp, then went out. the rest of the 15mi. ride the light was on at stops, idle up to 1,500 not the normal 1,200. when I checked the battery when I got home it was 12.61v. The battery is at least 3yrs old I think it sat for a couple of years befor I bought the bike. I have ridden the bike daily for the past year. The battery is an oddessy hawker dry cell. Any ideas?
  16. Hey thanx Lex, I like scary adventures when taken with common sense. This is exactly what I wanted to know about this road. How long does it take to get from 1 to 101 ,at a careful pace?
  17. Thanx ,I'll check it out. Cheer!!
  18. South of Big sur a little below Lucia, and Limekiln State park is a road off Hwy 1, Nacimiento Furgusson RD. It goes thru the fort hunter military reservation. It goes over the Mtn. and ends up hooking up with 101. Anybody done this? The google sattllite look like a solitary twisty jont. Any thoughts?
  19. Whats your favorite ammo, rock salt or rubber? I prefer salt, I like the sting.
  20. It is interesting how few people responded to what I originaly posted. I thought it was pretty clear. I was interested in how to get the max out of the basic mods via tuning and maps. And does it vary from shop to shop. I did get my answer , and then some. Since this thread has morphed or degraded, as they often seem to, into something else.(Spitting match on cost benifit anaylisis of V11 mods.)My opinion on this new topic is. Any mods to a toy weather practical, speculative, real or imaginary are totally valid. Worthy of spirited disscussion yes, questioning personal judgement or character is irrelivant. If one wants to pimp his ride or make into a godzilla on wheels the only person who should have an emotional connection to it should be the one spending the money. Throwing money at impractical things like motorcycles, ridiculous hotrods with blowers , hot boats, fantasizing about hot women we could never get, and such. This is what boys do. I love to dream of the absurd, and proud of it!
  21. I don't think any amount of Hp would let me get even close to keeping up with your Jackel. It might be more than the bike. What I really need right now is a local seat guy. But thats another topic. Rachet no offence taken,I always welcome advice from anybody with more experiance then me.
  22. Oh my knickers are in such a twist! All I wanted to know is if what I have done matches the Dyno #s. I love you guys....In a manly way of course.
  23. Thank you GuzziMoto. Why do some people think that because one is looking to optimize what one has, this means one is being unrealistic . If I wanted 100hp I would not have bought this bike.
