  1. Does the 02 sport have more hp than the 00? I had my 00 sport dynotuned ,the results were 80.73 hp and 64.21 tq. The bike has an open air box, mistral cans, stucci cross and an early PC111. I reacently saw a posted result from a 02 sport with the same set up only the pipes and cross were by fast by feracci. The dyno was also done at fast by feracci, they got 90hp and 70 tq. What's up. Would the different brand products make thaaat much of a differance?I'm not quite up to speed yet on custom maps and such but if someone could fill me in. What am I missing ,and who in SoCal could get me the extra getty up!! Cheer! Ok I just found Daves Dyno gallery. I'm not too far off but I would like more with out serious mods. Any body got any ideas. It seems that the custom mapping done at fast feracci with similar set up's are getting higher #'s. Maybe there pipe or their tuner?? hmmm.
  2. So are the Tycos the same quality, performance as the omrons? I have two. Is there any issue running a mix in the board ?
  3. Your absolutly right. After I hit post I knew somebody would say hey wait a minute Experience Is that moment of hesitation before you go ahead and make the same mistake. I do still feel the price was too wayhigh and There was another issue at the time that I won't go into. However Bashing dealers or anybody else for that matter is not appropriate in a public fourm. They did do a good job on my tranni. Are the tyco's better than the bosh?
  4. I guess the opinion is unanimous. I'll plug it. Thanx!
  5. Anybody heard of the Tyco brand made in portugal. GP cycles in SD ripped me off for a couple of these as back ups when I first got the bike and was having the tranni recall done. I knew nothing about what they should cost at the time, they charged me $25.00 ea. I will never do business with them again because of this. I dooon't like being taken advantage of. Everybody Is ignorant as a newbe. So far the boshes have been fine 1yr,11kmi.
  6. I need opinions please. Twice in the past 4 yrs I have picked up a small finnishing nail on a new rear tire, I mean new 200-400 mi. Many places will not fix a sport radial. Say it's not safe. What do you all think. Here are the paramaters.#1 very low mi. #2 small object. #3 puncture within 1.5 in. of center. #4 Diablo or other high quatity radial tire. #5 not a track bike but occasional 100mph not out of the ordinary. The last time I got a new one, but the poked tire is still hanging on my wall. I am ready for a new shoe what do I do??. One other question how important is it to run matched tires. What if I ran a diablo front and a cheaper dunlop rear?
  7. I am starting to have an intermittent ignition switch prob. insert key turn and no dash lights, will not start. Wiggle key and she goes. Is the ignition switch fixable or should I order a new one? I am sure it is stupid expensive and will take forever to get. Is this a common issue. The bike only nas 13k mi. I would'nt expect it to were out so soon.
  8. I looked at the cycleport kevlar. The custom option looks like the ticket for me. Thanx for the tip.
  9. I absolutly agree the best looking fairing for this bike is the mangi, however it is usless unless you are in a full tuck agressive riding position. That said I picked this bike and this fairing at the same time to suite my needs. At this time I can only fit one bike in my garage. I commute daily and plan to do some touring. This bike is easy to work on. Fully supported by a group of online fanatics with many different opinions on the technical , aesthetic ,and political aspects of life. People are what make this world interesting. If everybody looked the same we would get tired of looking at each other. I posted pic of my creation not to have my vision validated ,I am a well adjusted secure individual. But to offer up a combanation nobody has ever tried before. If you like it, great I am happy to share my experiance with you. If not it really does'nt bother me. Thats why there is chocolate and vannila and tuti fruiti . I think my bike looks retrofunk cool exactly what I wanted. Did I mention it is really comfy and work great !! I had'nt heard the word fugly before and I love it, it is now part of my ever shrinking vocabulary. Peace,Cheer Alan
  10. The fairing weighs 5lbs, abs plastic of some sort .The window may be 1.25 ibs It's really not that heavy. Ony notice it on parking lot manuvers.
  11. I knew this would start. slow n ugly= slugly, big n ugly=bugly. nice tits n ugly= jugly. Anyone else?
  12. OK, here is the face of the fugly beast!
  13. The mirrors are MFW http://www.mfw-wolf.de/index.shtml Get them from eurotech http://www.eurotechmotorsports.com/ Fantastic visibility. Get the blind spot.
  14. I know it's a little big. This is my daily commutor rain or shine. It is a little funky too , but Fugly? I'm crushed.
  15. I bought the scout fairing last june. http://www.parabellum.com/ It took a while but I think it was worth the wait. Have a look and see. I painted it my self . I have no automotive painting experience. When the auotmotive paint handbook I have read "if you want to have your car painted with a tri-coat pearl or candy color find a painter who has lots of experience with them. It's not a good idea to attempt a tri-coat paint job in the family garage." The challange was on! the paint job came out quite nice and is a near perfect match. I got the paint at Senik Paint in costa mesa CA.http://www.senikpaint.com/ The paint is Dupont Standox. Motoguzzi verde. Grey primer, silver metalic base, transparent green and a clear top coat. I took 5 light coats of the green to match. This is the tricky part. A professional painter would be able to do a dead on match with this paint but I am very happy with what I have done. The fairing works very well.I have gone 110mph with no buffiting or wabbles of any kind.It feels a little heavy at parking lot speeds but really not an issue. If you want an effective fairing, and like the looks I would highly recomend one. The wind screen on mine is the 16" there are many sizes to choose from. I trimmed about 3/4 " off the bottom corners of the fairing and mounted the side lights(Auto Gem Jewel lights) J&P cycles. The parabellum web site has pics of the scout with much more agressive trims.I am 5'11"and the wind blast hits from about my eyes up. As you can see I have mounted standard bars. The fairing is mounted to the mirror posts and the headlight bolts. Charley at parabellum sent a variety of mounting hardware. I don't think I had to buy any thing except some chrome bolts snd some rubber compression nuts to fix the struts to the faring. Did I mention the quality is tops The inside has a smooth leatherlike texture and the dash is separate piece. The mirrors are MFW blind spot mv1 The stems have LED turn signals in them. http://www.mfw-wolf.de/en/products.shtml I got them from eurotechhttp://www.eurotechmotorsports.com/ Now lets see if I can get the photos to post. I am more of a craftsman than a computer guy. Cheer!! Alan
  16. I had the vapor lock experience once and it started later. I rerouted the fuel line off the cylinder I hope this took care of it. I guess the overheating in traffic and subsequent shut down referred to in the travel thread must have been a vapor lock. I was'nt aware that this could happen when the bike was still runnig and fuel was moving through the system. It's nice to know this ,I hope my fuel line reroute will avoid this happening again. The bike is the color of an Alien (we all know their all green) I don't think it is too far out for me to assume it would have a superior level of intelligence of it's own. WERE NOT ALONE!!
  17. I am planning a trip this summer I know some of the roads I plan on riding are going to be blazing hot. I just read Dr Gil's trip log ,redwoods to baja, someday I hope to have an opportunity to do a trip like that!.Any way he described a overheating incident that made me think about my planned trip. What acctually happens when the bike gets too hot? I guess a thermo sensor of sorts shuts the motor off to avoig damage ? What is the opperating range of a V11, at what oil or cylinder temp does shut down or MELT down occurs. Any tips on 100+degree riding. Any favorite hot weather riding gear that actually has some protection. Cheer!! Alan
  18. Thanx Mark. This sounds great. How many hours do you figure on this route from carmel to Malibu?
  19. I am planning to go to the Moto-Gp in july. I plan to make BigSur friday. Continue on to the event Sat. morning. I want to take Sun. and Mon. to ride home to orange county CA. Any suggestions for a fun route home Cheer! Alan

    HI Idle

When all else fails fallow directions. It works, what a concept! I started over this wknd. AND IT WORKED OUT PERFECTLY. Idle is fine. Runs with no hunts or pops . I think the closed TPS was off. So I now have learned to adj. the valves set tps and ballance. Gee I'm almost ready for some offical motoguzzi garage overalls. It's really cool that 30 people took the time to put in their opinions. Thanxs!! Alan By the way if any body has not done the swiss cheese cush drive mod ,DO IT noticeably smoother driveline.

    HI Idle

I backed both screws out. Set TPS at 150. turned rt screw to 520. Started bike ,idle way way high.backed screw out to reasonable idle this was around 300 or so. vacuum deviation off to rt. had to increace idle on Rt with screw to ballance, now idle is a little high but ok .This is where I ended up at 360. Still have not touched the Lf screw. Hooked up rod with no tention. Fine tune ballance with white knob. Bike pops at constant speed 4000rpm and below and sometimes starting out from stop basicly not a smooth go. I ballanced with a twimax at about 1/2 on the sensitivity dial. Could the last tuner have started below 150 before the dyno. This may not be possible for some reason so I may seem stupid but I am a newbee , sorry please educate me.

    HI Idle

Yes this is what I tried to do. It runs better at 1/2 than 1 bypass screw turns. Idle is slightly above the first mark above 1000. At one turn out on bypasses it is almost at the next mark, way too high. I will try the whole process again this WKnd. What I am wondering now is ,does all this changing of the TPS affect the PC and dyno tune. Will that have to be redone? I am a novice mechanic ,obviously, but trying to learn . Another question, If the 150 and the 520 values are used. and if the idle is OK, now with the twinmax hooked up the rt side has the deviation. To ballance , the stop screw or bypass are adjusted and idle goes too high. perhaps the 150 is too high for my bike. Does this make sense .If I start with a lower value would this have a lower idle?, I feel so stupid for not making a note of what the originel values were .It was running just fine but I wanted to see if I could improve it,do I need a blow to the head? I guess the idle is within the acceptable range but the bike hunts, sputters ,and is slugish. the plugs are the typical two tone dkbrn one side clean the other. Thanx for any input before I try it again. Cheer!! Alan

    HI Idle

This is what I did. It makes the most sence to me, as the ballance should be very close using the link for the fine tune. The bike is not running as well as I thought yesterday. Today Some coughs at low RPM- 4000. Which way do you turn the air bleeds to increase or decrease idle , open-counter clock will increace idle? I am set at 1/2 open now. I did'nt mention the bike has mistrals, stucci cross and a power commander if that makes any diff. But I guess it should'nt cause It was fine before I f##@ked it up!!
