  1. Congrats, love that paint scheme. Now for the check list. Change all fluids if not confirmed to be done recently.Engine,trans,diff,brakes,clutch,forks. Air filter Check valves Balance TB's and TPS Check wheel bearing and grease, known to be under-greased from factory Then on to the mods,....
  2. Ridgewood Barbeque in Bluff City TN,pretty much a must stop everytime I'm within a 100 miles.Ridiculously good BBQ!
  3. Highlands NC is a great little town to stay for the night if you have the Misses.Looks like it hasnt changed in 75-100 years ,but in a good way and at the intersection of 28,64 and 106.
  4. Shady Valley http://www.motorcycleroads.us/regions/tn_northeast.html 28,129,19E,221,58,321,Cherohola,GA60,,....all in the Deals Gap area,...
  5. Congrats Alex. There is no Scura manual. The V11 shop manual covers all models.Engine is essentially the same from1999-2005.I'm not home so don't know the torque of those screws but they do have a general torque chart for each size screw and bolt.I dont think the pressure plate is weighted but someone else could confirm it ,you could also email TLM they may be able to help.I did the single plate to twin-plate conversion when I had the motor out.Getting it out is 90% of the job so would consider that as an option while you have it open and may give you piece of mind as the 2 platers have been proven reliable.
  6. Ah,you southern clime riders.Might get below 70! Get the tiny violins out.
  7. I had to take the VFR for a trip last year and we have a member that does changes for cheap, didn't have time to do the change at home so went to him.I do my own changes normally and buy tires online and always get the best deal and he was able to beat it.It's like a one man NASCAR pit crew attacks your bike when you roll into his garage. No BSing, within 5 mins he has your wheel off and braking the bead.Super clean, careful with an expertise unlike most shops. If I lived closer ,I would chuck my HF tire changer and go to him for all my tire changes. He's in Murphy NC,just south of the Gap.Let me know if you want his info.
  8. My bike came completely stock and ran great when I received it.When I discovered a cracked TB boot and tried to " fix"it ,I totaled screwed up it's fueling.Once I got the proper FI tuning procedure down ,the bike runs perfect again.Still have a Mistral X-over and PC 111 waiting to install, but if tuned properly these bikes should run just fine in stock form.
  9. Might be a different location for different years.Mine is on the right under the cowling.
  10. Back of the boots too?Any small crack will mess you up.Make sure those seals are tight at the exhaust.Copper paste is a good sealant.Header flanges are known to fail and leak. We're all gonna go,"Doh!" when you find it,it's usually something stupid and small,....
  11. Did you check TB boots for cracks? Headers and exhaust connections? A/F balance will cause these symptoms. So an air leak, or incorrect info to ECU (sensor or ECU.
  12. Nice Docc. Thanks for the reminder.I usually do a no particular date yearly guilt trip $ request.I'll post on mine from last year to get more eyes on it.
  13. The tuning isn't that critical as long as the CO is set. Have the dealer get that zeroed or 3.5%. You can always fit a different crossover on later. The tuning isn't that critical as long as the CO is set. Have the dealer get that zeroed or 3.5%. O OR 3.5% Docc? I'm planning on doing mine for the first time this year with the Diag software now that I have a gas analyzer but confused by that,... Personally the reverse cones don't look right to me on the bike. But definitely subjective to the individual. The softer the material of the cans will offer a lower frequency.Ie; SS Harsh,Ti less harsh,Carbon softer.Material doesn't effect DB levels, design and the presence of DB killers will do that.
  14. You clearly understand bikes J and know where money is spent best.Get the thing running first and fit to you.See way too many new owners looking to modify these beasts before they're running well in stock trim. So, I want to drive the damn thing some before getting into exhaust. I want the ergos and the basic engineering (and some aesthetics) to be up to snuff before modifying. But that's just me. j.
  15. The O2 sensors appearing in 03,or 04 so no need for them.My used Mistral X-over came with one and I'm just gonna plug it up.
  16. That wouldn't surprise me that anyone wouldn't have that info ready off the top of their head,or in a data base, sure someone will chime in. I would suggest a Speedbleeder while in there as it makes bleeding much easier. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16028&hl=mznyc&page=2
  17. this road looks great! looks like the pave ends at the NC line, with a do-able gravel road continuing. also looks like a few miles further, at Waterville Rd (paved) a left turn will get you back to I40 and beyond. ever go out that way mz? thanks for the heads up on 32. ...always lookin' I did notice how close to 40 it was the first time I found it,but didn't want to take a VFR over unknown road in a remote area .BTW there was a fatal black bear attack at the border at the end of the pavement about a year or so ago.Wouldn't make me think twice about going back up there as the man killed was feeding him by hand.Lot of them up here in the Catskills.Generally skittish without food or cubs in the equation.
  18. Let's see how much we can translate.I speak a little Italian, so I'll start it off, Guzzi guys know about history.Harley guys know where the pubs are.
  19. As an X-Rock'N'Roller I get my high's from finding roads like that instead of other ways that used to get me in trouble .I always get,.."Yer from New Yerk Citaah!?"."You drove that raahice rocket all tha waay down har!!?"
  20. Let's see if this works,.. https://www.google.com/maps/@35.7819411,-83.1555205,13z
  21. Are you aware of oil sloshing away from the pick-up area in the pan when going up an incline or hard on the gas with the front end light? The Roper plate solves this. An OPG would be a definate way of knowing if the oil perssure is correct, but in lieu of that making sure the level is correct would be the first thing to do.The dipstick has been discussed for years as to how hard it is to read correctly and there is several home methods of measuring.Do a search or someone may post a link to the thread. Most people drop the pan to access the filter which also gives easy access to the screen.
  22. Im usually down there in late spring and summer so the locals would know better but temps ,should be good.Ive been lucky the last couple times in June and July the temps were unseasonably cool.I would think spring/fall would be the best time.
