  1. I had a similar quandary with my 1100i. Every time I would fix something, something else would go wrong, and every time it would be something expensive. I therefore got pi%&ed off with the bike and decided on selling it and buying a newer one. I ended up selling the bike to my father and buying a V11 Rosso Corsa. Since 'selling' the bike two years ago we've not had the problems we used to with it *touch wood*, and I've bought another good bike. I kept riding the 1100i on occasion, and have realised that due to the problems that I was having, my view on the bike was tainted. The reason that my father bought the bike off of me was because he had so much fun riding it that he didn't want to see it go and now I would agree with him, so much so that I have bought it back off of him. I suppose that I am getting round to saying that if you stick with it you can end up with a lovely bike which you don't want to get rid of, you just need to sit back and take stock for a little while. However, it does take time, patience and money. If you are lacking in any of those, then I would think about another bike.
  2. Bloody hell! And you managed to walk away from that?!?!
  3. Yes. It came as a kit from Motomecca here in the UK. The only downside is that I now can't let the bike idle on the sidestand, as the 1100 doesn't have the neutral over-ride.
  4. My 1100 had a suicide stand. After about 6 months it was such a pain that I swapped it for a V11 type stand which stayed down. Now all is right and well with the world!
  5. There's no chip in the V11 key...
  6. That is a Baglux/bagster cover (they are the same company). I asked about them over in the UK a couple of weeks ago, they quoted me £81 and said that they were out of stock and to allow minimum 3-4 weeks delivery.
  7. From the second photo, it looks like it has been on the way out for a long time. If you look carefully at the smooth section you can see the rings as the bolt has stressed, then released over a period of time. This is probably due to the bolt not being tight enough and the bike not being lowered onto the stand.
  8. The first thing that i would do is clean the linkage. If that doesn't cure the problem, take the side of the gearbox off and have a look. It's a fairly simple operation, just remove the gear lever, starter motor and remote suspension unit, and you can take the gearbox side off.

    MGS01

Slight aside, but, if anyone in the UK is interested, there is an MGS-01 for sale in my local garage in Barking, Suffolk for £16,000. I just wish I had £16,000.....

    color code

Guzziology has it as Guzzi paint code 107, Light Red. However, I am having mine resprayed in Ferrari Red - it has the same red/orange quality as the Guzzi paint (indeed, I can't tell the difference). It also has the advantage of almost all painters knowing this colour!
  11. Personnally, I would have a word with the father and get the kid to help repair it, as well as paying you. He'll see it as a punishment and, you never know, he might actually learn something and not do anything so bloody stupid again!!
  12. It was a separate kit, with a new V11 style sidestand, with the long arm for flicking it out while still on the bike (no pun intended!), a small bracket which was bolted onto the existing sidestand support for holding the sidestand kill switch, new bolt and the kill switch itself. The kill switch comes with two large connectors on it, so you just plug it in in parallel with the right hand control connector, so yes, it was straight bolt-on, no fuss. I think that the kit I bought was about £40, but can't really remember - it was over a year ago I got mine. Your best bet is to give Motomecca a call and find out if they are still making them. You could probably bastardise an old V11 one, but, to be honest, I couldn't be bothered at the time, and this kit versus the time spent making a used V11 one fit just made sense to me, as I really didn't want to start pulling wires apart!
  13. Does anyone know the paint code for the valve covers, please?
  14. This appears to be quickly turning into a p@$sing contest.....
  15. Excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference between 'organic' and 'non organic' pads? Do the organic ones not get insect repellent sprayed on them before they leave the factory, or something?!?!
  16. I got over this issue on my 1100 by buying a V11 style sidestand kit from Motomecca here in the UK. It comes as a standard V11 sidestand with a sidestand switch and the bracket to mount it. the switch sits in between the loom and the connector for the right hand control panel. The result is a sidestand which does not flip up whenever you so much as look at it, but a bike which will not run with the sidestand down (as it does not have a neutral over-ride as the V11s do). It works well for me. Richard P.S. I have a friend who wrote a bike off because he forgot that his sidestand was down, rode off straight up to a left hand bend, promptly went straight on and into a wall...
  17. Sitting in the same place as it is on a standard V11, but it on what looks like different mounts. Or am I mistaken...? The regulator seems to still be in the same place.
  18. Yep, so where have they taken the feed from, if they've moved it from there - on one of the other photos you can see the oil cooler is still there
  19. My Rosso Corsa had the same problem - I had it re-welded at a firm which welds heading elements, so is used to high temperature welds. I then fitted everything in place loosely and tightened up front to back, trying to ensure that there was no stress on the system. So far, it's worked....
  20. Where have the feed and return lines for the oil cooler disappeared to...?
  21. Back end - not keen, front end -
  22. I second that - I had the same problem on mine - sprayed the rose joints with WD40 and all was right and well with the world again.
  23. Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit... Welcome to the club....! P.S. Pete, how much are the sloppage sheets going for over here in the UK atm?
