  1. Bizarre, this is just what Motomecca told me when they sold it to me....
  2. I've just bought one like this from Motomecca. Apparently it was standard on the Scura....
  3. I would go for clean up the gear linkage, hope for the best and take the spare parts with you....
  4. What did your specialist do to get those sort of numbers....?
  5. As I said, as far as I can tell on the road.... It just feels like it's got more...
  6. You do realise that the V11 exhaust system has a larger diameter than the 1100 system....? I am not sure what difference this would make to the engine (my fluid dynamics didn't stretch to this), but as far as I can tell on the road, the 1100 has far more poke and has the same engine..... I'm sure someone will correct me on this.
  7. Sorry, I know I'm being a bit slow here, but clutch PEDAL....?
  8. I had a similar problem, it turned out to be the kill switch on the right hand controls which was at fault. I am on my third one. I ended up taking it apart and found that the contact which needs to be made on the switch for the bike to run was only just making contact, however it would make a good contact with the other contact when in the other position, so I swapped the wires to the switch over (so now run is kill and kill is run) and all is right and well with the world.
  9. That crack in the alternator isn't actually on the alternator, that is on the ring that holds the alternator in place, which isn't actually attached to it. It should be a tight push-fit. If you are worried about it, it should be a relatively cheap item to replace...
  10. Yeah, yeah, stop showing off, just cause some of us aren't quite so well equipt as you.....!
  11. The stand is a Guzzi part. They specify it as a "workshop stand". I have 2, one for the V11, one for the 1100. They are very good...

    97 Sporti

I have both a V11 and a 1100i Sport. Both are very good in their own right. The Sport feels more aggressive and has more in the upper revs. It requires a little more "persuasion" into corners due to the narrower bars, but is a very rewarding ride. If I am going for a short distance, less than 120 mile, fun ride, I will take the 1100. If I'm going for long distance with some fun on both the ride there and at each end, then I'll use the V11. As for the seat cover, why bother, I just both recovered with a good material and the bike looks the better for it. My advice would be take it for a test ride and have your chequebook handy!!!
  13. Have you tried swapping the relays around to see if the same problem persists? That would tell you if it were the relay....
  14. Being gentle with the throttle and on only motorways, I can get about 160 miles before the light comes on. 200 may be a little on the optimistic side....
  15. I had a similar problem on my 1100i, with the fuel pump not priming. It turned out to be a blown ECU. I replaced it with a second hand Ducati 748 unit (same ECU, but cheaper!), put my old chip into it and all was right and well with the world. If it is the ECU, I would get a My16M from Jefferies.....

    Lookie What I Found

I'm afraid that we are all living on dreams if we expect an MGS-01 type of road going bike from Guzzi. I'd love to see it, but I'm not holding my breath....
  17. Sod that, just give me carbs back. 1000cc spada, ok performance from the engine and 52mpg (imperial) on motorways at 90 mph.....
  18. The whining is because of the straight cut 'box. Perfectly normal for an early 1100. I must admit I kind of like it. Contrary to popular belief the straight cut are not weaker than the helical cut 'boxes, however, the 5th gear suffers from oil starvation for some reason and tends to destroy the gearbox casing when it self destructs. Last I heard, Agostini sold helical cut 5th gears for the 1100, but I haven't investigated for my two straight cut boxes yet.... P.S. having said that they will probably go very soon.....
  19. Sorry, which shaft are you talking about.....?!?!?! It's been a long evening.....
  20. That sounds dangerously like logical thought....!
  21. Both my 1100i and V11 had the UJs incorrectly positioned when I bought them, despite both having been serviced by the dealer prior to me picking them up....
  22. And have you ever had any relays go since replacing the originals? If not then the replacement has definitely stopped the problem!!
  23. Nope, 500 miles and too little time to make it. Besides, it's the Army vs Navy rugby at Twickers this weekend....!
