  1. All oils were changed about 500 miles ago with the 12000 mile service. I had the side cover off just after the service to replace the pawl return spring, but had no issues with gear changing after that. I have just had a look at the linkage and it does appear to be a little floppy, so I will have a look at that in the morning when I can see it! I will keep you posted......
  2. I know that there was a topic about this earlier on, but I can't find it, so...... My 2003 Rosso Corsa sometimes has a very clunky up and down shift. Other times it's as sweet as a nut. Has anyone else had issues like this, esp. in the UK? Does anyone know what this could be, (large change in temperatures between cold sitting in my garage and riding?!) and does anyone know of a solution, please? Cheers, Richard Btw, I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year, unfortunately Santa didn't bring me that MGS-01 I asked for.... and I'd been such a good boy this year....!!!
  3. The guy Alex mentioned is here in the UK
  4. I'm just down the road from you in Gosport at the moment, but next year is a little open ended, as I deploy in May time and may not be in the country again this late Oct. Let me know if you want to go for a ride at some time. Sorry I couldn't make it to the Solent meet on Friday - the bike is the only transport I have is the bike and it was absolutely sh1tting it down....... Richard
  5. Still unsure about it. I'll reserve judgment until I see one in the flesh. I do wish it had USD forks, though....
  6. Here here. People are always going to have differing opinions. Man up, understand this and accept people for who they are - it's called "real life". Don't take your thumb in you bum and start righting off people you've only met through a forum such as this, at least meet them, get to know them, then make your mind up.
  7. I could do with a set too, if they could be sent to England. I would be interested to know what the results of the front crossover/no front crossover test, as the Rosso has one and, apparently, that's the cause of the cracking A system which retains the stock/aftermarket slipon silencers would be great.
  8. Cheers guys. I really ought to get round to buying a manual, but I keep on spending all my money on parts to repair the things! Didn't think there would be an order, but wanted to check as it is supporting the front of the engine and most of the bike when it's on the sidestand!
  9. Does anyone know if there is a specific torque setting for bolting the timing cover back onto the engine and if there is a specific order of tightening? Also what are the torque settings for the mounting bolts which go into the timing cover, please?
  10. Of course they could do it, but we all know they'll never get off their collective arses and actually do it...!! (I'm a little bitter about the Griso 8V disappearance, can you tell....?! )
  11. My father has one and absolutely loves it - it helps with the senility!! It's really good round town, but for open roads around England there isn't much point for sat nav. He also likes the fact that you can also plumb it into your car as well...... The user interface is really good too. I would get one if I was doing much town work.
  12. Fair one. I do like the riding position of the R6, and it is a hell of a lot quicker, but it's just missing something........
  13. While chatting to a friend the other day, the conversation natually turned to bikes and comparing his 1999 R6 to the V11. He mentioned wanting to get braided brake lines...... what?! I need to get some for the 350, the V11 and 1100 have them as standard. Looking over the bikes, he was missing; braided brake lines, upside down forks, hydraulic clutch, ohlins suspension and about 20 lbs ft from the engine output! He was also wanted the brembo goldlines! Mightily jealous overall. I suppose these beasts don't do too bad after all.......
  14. That's the only silly thing......?!?! So what do I get next? Kinda leaning towards a Triumph 675 or a Ducati 1098, as Guzzi arn't going to do anything.....
  15. I really have to wonder if anyone in Guzzi has any business sense or has any idea about public opinion! The only thing I can think of is for us all to flood the Guzzi inbox with questions saying "what's happened to the new 8 valve motor? Why arn't you going to produce it and why arn't you going to put it into a new sports bike?" Never know, they might actually listen to that. Nothing else seems to work......
  16. It's gone! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
  17. I won't be able to make that weekend unfortunately. I hope you have a great time, though.
  18. Check out the second photo at the top of the page and all will become clear.

  20. Not disputing that, but I'm talking about the new engine and providing a proper amount of cooling from the oil. That's like comparing a Cali with a Le Mans.....
  21. A radiator that size just isn't man enough for the task or removing heat with any major effect to overall cooling (I can do the sums if you like), this is an air cooled motor that just happens to have an oil radiator. If you want to be very, very specific, then there is no such thing as a purely air cooled motor, the oil always has a cooling effect. To make a motor properly oil cooled then you need to improve the oil flow through the engine overall, paying perticular care with the heads and cylinder block, as I understand has been done with the new 8V engine. Why would you not expect more from a much better engine than from the old 8V motor that is in the MGS-01, which makes 120hp at the rear wheel, as was shown on this forum?
  22. Yes, I do know the difference and most modern square riggers can only make a max of about 16 knots designed hull speed (I sail them in my spare time). Where did he do his training? My Great Grandad was a Gunnery Instructor prior to WWI and went somewhere a bit more 'active' when war broke out.
