  1. Hear-Hear! @MartyNZ, M.E.
  2. Yep, I see the difference with your glossy mirrors. Just saying they might be amplifying the vibration. And harshness. Noise? That could just be me . . .
  3. Sir_Scud: one of V11LeMans.com's many Member Emeritus. The combination of that Chuck (another M.E. ) engineered spring and the roller bearing, combined with (M.E.) Lucky Phil"s "V11 Shift Improvement" makes the V11 6speeder a delight. Don't neglect the benefits of grooming the external rear-set shift mechanism. Scud, buddy, you rock!
  4. IDK, bud. These look like the stockers ("stalkers?!?" ) to me . . . Reference images:
  5. IMHO (as well as experience), the factory "stalk" mirrors are aggravating contributors to the handgrip vibration on the Sports, mounted just inboard of the grips and extending a "pendulum" superiorward significantly. Pretty sure no one ran that past the NVH Engineering Department . . .

  8. Good point that it likely broke being pried off from that rear, lower tab. That is an amazing weld. Someone knew what they were doing. + 1 on not disturbing it at this point! After my latest series of being in-and-out of that shift plate, it is disappointing to have a silly little drip. Shifts great! But drips. Gotta go back in. Again. Thanks for sharing the discoveries in this V11 refresh, @Scud! We all stand to learn!
  9. Wow! Great work, as always, @Scud! Let's face it, there is only ONE truly "improved" shift spring for the V11 6speeder. Chuck-engineered, it is the ScudSuperSpring. And what is this? I mean that's a nice weld and all, but whoever cracked their shift plate?
  10. Nice! Thanks, @KINDOY2! That delightful melodica sound made me think of Toots Thielemans. I had to find something live and with good audio. Toots!
  11. I would wager it was more off than that. I know I said this before, but you may be vastly relieved by what it feels like after a couple Decent Tune-ups. Also, it is important to balance the Guzzi throttle bodies "at some rpm" (2500-3000 or so) rather than at idle. Not all technicians agree or do this and their balance will be lovely at idle, but perhaps considerably off at the rpm we actually ride. I don't mind a lumpy idle, but want it as silky as a Guzzi gets at 4-5000 and up. (Okay, they're Guzzis, so not "silky." Maybe "leathery" would feel just right . . .)
  12. Well said. Truly, my Sport would not have survived without the amazing, and humbling, contributions from this community. This outcome is not by my own hand. I cannot thank all of you enough.
  13. My first riding buddy (RIP) was thirty years my senior. I benefited from so much of his wisdom, much well beyond riding and motorcycling. After buying and selling countless motorcycles in his lifetime, Bruce decided that a motorcycle is worth 10¢ a mile in what it gives us in the use and joy of riding. Having paid some $12,000US for my Sport new, it is now paying me back 10¢ for every mile. And doesn't owe me anything. Not even that 2¢ an hour for all of those countless hours of fettling and fuss. What makes > my Guzzi < "quirky?" It is no longer a consumer product, but now more a product of craft, care, devotion, and community.
  14. I am also reminded of the motojournalist, Peter Egan, establishing the going rate of reimbursement for an enthusiast restoring a chosen motorcycle at the "usual 2¢ an hour" . . .
  15. When people see the mileage on my >20 year old, uncommon (if not downright rare) Italian (of all places!) funky motorcycle, I am often asked where my dealer is. I used to reply, "My local Moto Guzzi dealer in Seattle, Washington!" (Which is 2500 miles away. ) Since Moto International closed, I enjoy saying, "Varsseveld, in The Netherlands. Some fellow named FieldHorse."

Hands down, the best car I ever owned was a BMW. Hands down, the worst car I ever owned was a BMW.

The "Nevada" - That is easy to agree with, even for a novice like me. The V85TT? the jury seems to still be out on that one. Very, very confusing now between the V7/V9/V850 engines and what was different about the V85 motor (even if one does not care for the "TT" >dual sport?< chassis and design).

Here, I thought there was a whole list of Goozie-turds in the last fifty years. The current V7/V850 is the "second most awful?" What could possibly the Mostest-Awfulest?

So, a V85TT without the tricker, more expensive V85 motor? The lesser V850 motor instead?

Oh, oh, okay. Sorry about the ox. A new model of the V7, come V850:
