  1. I'm bummed to find my Dunlop 220 rear in 160/60 is down to the wear bars at 200o miles. And no Bento-burn-outs either!
  2. I had no idea the V11 bevel box was so different from previous models. Is that a good thing?
  3. OK, I admit, I was skeptical about the badges. But, They do look good! I think th eagle is a keeper. I assume it is a decal?

    Oil filters

I'm pretty sure there's a thread on "How To' but the lazer welded filter for the Isuzu Trooper is the hot set-up. Under US$15.
  5. The Gambalunga/ Gambalunghino were racers from 1946 -1951. The name implies its stroke having been lengthened from the Dondolino. In '51 it carried the same emblem of the 2000 -2001 Sports, rather than the earlier "art deco" version:
  6. True, all indications are the early springs are pretty weak and some '02s are prone to break. We haven't heard from Thang for a while. He was on the second supplier attempting to get good replacements made.
  7. I learned motors from an aircraft mechanic. He was adamant that correct torque was required to properly dissipate heat from the plug. I believed in the old guy, after all he was not in a habit of pulling over to check if something went wrong!
  8. The plastic bearing cage warning has come up before but I recall it applies only to the 5-speed. The 6-speed comes with synthetic ( at least the 2000 Sport did). It only holds 850 ml so you'd have to be really cheap to want to save three or four dollars. Although, with what you saved on oil over the life of your Guzzi you could buy a bottle of Laphroig, and invite a friend over to help you tear down your gearbox.
  9. I'm planning on making the additional grounds the next time my tank is off. I hate to tear the thing down while it is running so well! Pete recommended a more substantial ground strap from battery to block. ( At the very least be sure the connections are clean and tight), Adding a separate ground wire to the regulator and the instruments.
  10. That looks just like the filter wrench I bought from Guzzi for US$65. You're saying it will not fit the Mobil1 filter?
  11. TW, I resized the photo to make our browsers happier. The finish looks great! Not the usual flat silver hot-coat.
  12. Some forum member posted a question about stands in the 'How To.' In an effort to move it here and answer the thread cybervaporated. (sorry ) Here are a couple good threads on stands: paddock stands stands
  13. Close a 12 page thread? You wouldn't . . .
  14. When your wrench has the box out, be sure to show him the the suspect area for case crack at the top rear corner, left. It took my shop three tries to finally find it. Look at this for clarification: Carl's case crack

    Some Questions

jerroldt, look at this thread on grips:Anyone seen these?
  16. I hope I'm not speaking out of turn to say he partnered with Ducati-Nashville to bring a Guzzi dealership to middle Tennessee. It's been at least 10-12 years since we've had a Guzzi dealer here. The dealer I bought from was 120 miles away and gave it up last year as it wasn't his primary business. I feel really fortunate to have Andy this close with a full time shop, good wrench, good parts guy (John) and a floor full of Italian bikes.
  17. Hmmm, i thought it said: this THREAD is worthless without PIGS
  18. The thread starter, Andy York, is Ducati/Moto Guzzi-Nashville. He's real low key about not using the forum to promote. But he did go to the trouble to get some of these screens from Germany ( I'm not sure if from a dealer or the manufacturer). Hopefully when he checks in he can give us an update on availability. The shop can be reached at (615) 353-1919.
  19. Stefan, There are a number of threads on gearbox leaks especially on the early bikes. There are several places they are prone to leak. What have you tried to fix so far?
  20. biesel is always finding cool stuff for us!
  21. But flaky paint on an '03? That seems odd, no?
  22. Doug, what do you weigh? I'm interested in swapping springs front and back as well. Keep us posted what you learn.
