Matt,
Please look around and find a garage or bike shop that uses dye to find oil leaks. Any independent or dealership should be able to help. You will be amazed at how quick this will show up. I use this in my work and it is great. You want to install it in one oil only so you will know what is leaking.
And you know C Berry is a St Louis native.
I suppose if I could take my kids to see one R & R performance it would be Chuck Berry.
Splitting hairs. Is Bo Diddly R&R or Blues ?
Preston Petty sold this anti-dive setup for MX bikes in the late 70s. It was a linkage that hooked up to the top of the fork upper or steering head (I can't remember) and to the brake drum backing plate. When you applied the front brake the drum rotated and pushed up on the linkage extending the fork length and not allowing the weight of the bike to push down on the forks.
The Earls design front forks* had this same characterisics as far as picking up on the front instead of pushing down when front brakes were applied.
* I assume you are old enough to know what these are!
When you apply the rear brake (with the caliper/rotor on one side) do you notice ANY pull ?
It makes on difference as far as one rotor being on either side.
I have thought about this and if the caliper is behind or in front of the forks with no real answers....
EVERY circumstance is different. The only thing you can do is to maintain control of the bike until you have to let go. I watched a video where a rider got into a tankslapper from Hell. He was pitched UP in the air, held on the bars, dragged for a while, managed to hop back on and kept going....
a crash is at best 5 seconds long so you don't have "chess move" time to think much. It is mostly involuntary reaction time. The only advice I have is to control or influence your bike to a stop. When you give up and push off you give up control of being a rider and become a passenger.
I asked this old rider about high speed headshake and how to ride out of it ? His response was..."don't get into it".
Insane...
This might not be the place to insert this style of riding but.... after watching the bridge scene I realized there was nothing more to watch of these videos.
p.s. this video originally had "Fortress Europe" by Asian Dub Foundation WOW!! Now there is some wussy noise that sounds like Pat Matheny Group.
The track surface was made with 2X4s laid with the 4" side upright. These were assembled (nailed) side by side and laid in an irregular length for rigidity. This lumber was not finished so you can imagine how rough the surface was.
I do think I would try using my rear brake a little more until I got this problem resolved.
My way of stopping is to use the rear brake with assistance from the front. From reading your first post, it appears you do all your stopping with the front.
Is that true?
k,
Do you have access to a non-contact infrared thermometer? If so look at the temp. of the front rotors after (or a couple) one hard stop. The temp of the rotors should be within 10 degrees of each other. If one caliper is sticking or stuck the temp. will be a lot higher.
I don't know what temp. these rotors will be, automotive rotor usually stay below 150 deg.
Yes they do count and these were all fantastic groups.
Van Morrison's Astral Weeks is probably one of the top 10 lp's of all time.
BFG you would be the "first responder".
#1 "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes
It's at the beginning of the movie "Dirty Dancing" and they could have cut the rest of the movie and I would be happy. Besides Ronnie Bennett was ultimate to boot!
#2 "Johnny B Good" by Chuck Berry
This needs no statement.
#3 "Twist and Shout" by the Beatles
John Lennon (all of the Beatles I guess) took screaming to a plateau that will never be reached again.
#4 " Mustang Sally" by Wilson Pickett
The Wicked Pickett was pretty d**n good.
#5 "Gimme Some Lovin' " by The Spencer Davis Group.
Steve Winwood at 17 singing this NO WAY!!!! WAY!!!!!!!!
p.s. this is better thinking than car companies, economic implosion, and political polarization.
