  1. R & R the throttle plates is a critical process . You have to scribe their position with a pic or awl to make sure they are back in place PERFECTLY . I see no benefit in removing the throttle plate .

P.S. it is a free country , if you are attempting this the first time , I do not recommend it .

  2. I clean throttle plates/bores on vehicles ALL the time .  I get satisfactory results using carb cleaner , toothbrushes , small round wire brushes , small wire brushes , etc.

When I was a lot younger I thought I had to remove the throttle plates to get the job done. Not anymore.

I've only recently begun using Shin-Etsu grease on all things rubber;but I've already worked magic with it a few times.

The 16 yr old rubber battery holder on my Griso (which is a pita design on it's best day),was bent so badly out of shape & stiff & dry,I thought I might not be able to salvage it. Liberal amount of Shin-Etsu worked into the rubber with a tooth brush, gentle application of heat (hot air gun) and pressure applied in the right spots once the rubber loosened up & held correctly as it cooled down.

It looked almost brand new when I was finished.

Can you post a pic of this stuff ? I want to be sure I am going to get the right stuff .

  4. And , that ain't a good thing ! It seems as though anytime the patriarch gets out of the business and the kids or a new cabal takes over , things go south quickly . They "know" how to fix things and make it more ________ and then closing in less than two years .

To my eye, the lines of the bodywork flow better when the eye picks it up at the very front like the air would flow over whilst the sweet thing rips past a lazy stream in an otherwise quiet wooded hollow on the way to the next banked turn . . . :race:

I am too lazy to look , what wheels are on this bike ?

  6. Every mod a person does to their bike , is done because of their personal taste , We all have seen mods that look pathetic amd keep our mouth shut . Whew , the V11 is a bike that requires a lot of thinking before adding to / changing things . Little things make a big difference and members here can see changes.

    Cheap? well not anymore.

As they have now become the norm, they are no longer providing cheaper goods than the brick and mortar.

Besides they are also taking cost cutting measures, not mentioning twisting the hands of those companies that sell on A.com.

Now they have allowed a lot of third party sellers underneath them, I have had a lot of unpleasant surprises.

Now A.com is my last resort. I make an effort to purchase from other store fronts or local dealers whenever possible. Even if I have to pay for the shipping and wait longer.

For the BEST quality "stuff" , go to places that sell aircraft quality parts . They have to be good quality . You don't need your fixed wing or rotor vehicles on the side of the road because you bought something from Temu because it saved you 10% on the relay or is a counterfeit part. BTW , there are counterfeit Motorcraft and AC Delco parts selling on all kinds of websites.

I rode to work again today, taking the freeway entrance/exits at high speed, OH BOY! That is so fun, handling mucho better!

You better know if that off ramp is a sweeper or a 90 degree turn . I used to do EXACTLY that until I was up in Ky and went to do this . I found myself grabbing hold of every cast iron rotor on my 87 SE to come to an almost stop and then going 25' , then a complete stop and appreciate what just happened and living to die another day .

There is nothing wrong w/playing Rossi , just make a practice lap first .

I say this, rather emphatically, yet wonder :

    > How did the V11 LeMans/Sport compression ratio actually get changed from early to late motors?

    > When did the piston oil sprayers get added?

    > Would the piston oil cooling affect the minimum octane requirement?

After thinking , I will have to say "IDK" to all 3 questions and take a stab at #3 . I would suspect the oil spray on the bottom of the pistons may cool the pistons enough to lower the piston / cylinder temperature enough to change things , I am not sure.

  10. Now , at one time you could have said the motorcycle was an art form . IDK when modes of transportation stopped being "art" designed as a creation of the creator to become "we have to make what the consumer will buy" and what the Zeitgeist dictates .
