  1. Woooo . Angus MacGyver !
  2. As I posted in another forum here , I went to NAPA and got a castle nut 27mm/ 1 1/16" and welded a 3/8" extension to the nut . For a couple of dollars , it does the job .
  3. BTW , filter "sockets" are exclusive to the brand filter . Find one brand filter you are going to be happy with , find a socket that fits it and stick with them .
  4. I went to NAPA and found a castle(front wheel bearing adjusting)nut 27mm hex and welded a short 3/8" extension to the nut . AHA ! Now all I have to do is find it when the time comes . FWIW , when you are installing the manhole cover , push it up into the cavity and slowly turn it CCW like you are removing it . When you hear it click , stop and start tightening the cover . no crossthreading again !
  5. That's right ....... Anyone removing their fuel tank needs to do this. It also gave me clearance at the rear of the BRAND NEW PRISTINE condition tank I installed couple of years ago that rubbed the paint off in a few places from expansion . I am still not smart enough to post pics , but I ground down to the top of the lettering on the pucks .
  6. I like your mission statement !
  7. I cut an arc 10mm thick off the pucks and about 1/3 around . Drilled and pinned them so they wouldn't spin and installed the tank . P.S. the leak was at the retaining nut . Installed another sensor (used) from a 2000 tank & had to swap connector because it was DIFFERENT . BTW , the tank fell onto the bike !
  8. You know you've looked at these diagrams way too long when you could put on a clinic with them BEHIND your back .
  9. I have diagrams galore in this old crock next to my computer/work station along with two service manuals and two parts manuals for the Guzzis . BTW , laminate the big one and use erasable multi-color markers to keep things easy to clean up after the conferences .

    V11 wanted

    Good luck and good hunting
  11. Back to the wiring diagram , have it blown up to the max at Office Depot and be done with it . Mine is a 3'' X 4" .
  12. Rod ends are available for the part that freezes and breaks.... MotionPro maybe ?
  13. It will serve little purpose........
  14. P.S. for a shop this size , get a Bose WaveRadio / CD player . If you've heard one ; nuff said .
  15. And it still isn't
  16. Unless you are getting air at Cadwell Park or built like Rick Sieman , leave it alone . It will serve no purpose . BTW it is on the shock rod and is a job to get to .
  17. Whaddaya mean ? That's understood . a 40 CD player , 4 BIG speakers in the rafters( 2 on ea. end ) , can't remember the brand they have been there so long . I look at the stereo every day and don't remember the brand . Hmmmm , memory loss is a b..ch .
  18. Pegboards painted light color and hang everything on the walls. Good LED lighting , a good worktable and get a good used upper/lower toolbox . You can buy used SnapOn , Cornwell etc. Someone is trading up all the time . You will save $$$ buying good stuff the first time . Same with tools . Shop around for used deals..... Shop around for a used bike shop stand . You are going to enjoy working at waist level instead of laying on the shop floor .
  19. Mmmm . I put a new o-ring along w/black silicone sealant on it last week thinking it was the problem . Check on it Sat. and it was still weeping . Gonna check on another one & replace . Gonna massage on the front fuel tank pucks to fix fuel tank expansion . BTW , the Permatex stuff is good . I have 5 containers all over the shop . P.S. don't use it to seal pipe threads on water lines UNLESS it sets up for 24 hours . I KNOW .
  20. While we're around the fuel tank , my black frame is leaking at the low fuel level sensor . I replaced the o-ring and it is still leaking . UGHH . Can the sensor itself leak fuel ?
  21. Is it the one that goes from the crankcase to the bottom of the upper frame ?
  22. Uhhh $20 plus shipping ? IDK how much I paid
  23. Please explain the sharpie thing . I think i know , just making sure . If it was like my little brother's club house , the first to pass out got the treatment . shaved head , eyebrows , whatever . Sharpie clown faces . marked up stuff everywhere on the body . It was understood going in , the winner got it all .
  24. Let me throw this in . I do have a two tank system on the black frame . with the red tank (NEW) having only non-ethanol fuel only used . The tank still was a JOB to remove / install with paint rubbed off in places I didn't like . I am going to say mods to the front tank pucks are the only way to go w/o aluminum .
  25. Sounds good . Was the rubber soft ?
