  1. So i asked this question before and didn't really get an answer, how do i get the OEM crossover off the headers?iv'e loosened the clamps of course give them a good shake no go, are they tack welded or! Mines a 02 V11 with the snorkels removed,K&N air filter in stock box,the Ti slip on's,they have the Moto Guzzi logo printed on the cans, and the Stucchi crossover to go on if i ever get the OEM off,so where do i start for remapping, power commander or!any info would be gladly received. Thanks Stu.
  2. As soon as i saw the word Ace i new where I'd be going,i wasn't from the London area Manchester actually but we had the same thing up there, one of my good friends his older brother had a big Norton i forget which one anyway when I'd be over visiting i would see this bike and of course just drool,if he was home he'd fire it up for us or take us for a spin on the back. I think that's when my motorcycling career started of course i couldn't afford anything like that so it was a 50 cc Honda Passport for me was great for getting to work and back and it's top speed matched the rest of the traffic anyway,i think i wanted to be a Rocker but the Honda wasn't going to cut it so i ended up being a Mod with a Vesper or was it a Lambretta,"Age". Never got into the punch up thing as physical pain is not my bag I'm a live and let live kinda guy your on two wheels good enough,I've been riding ever since with a few breaks over the years and coming on 65 hope to get a few more in with the Guzzi, Suzuki GSX 1100 G,and my old 82 Yamaha Seca 650,all shaft drive to,apology's for the ramble couldn't resist. Stu.
  3. I just purchased a whole system, for my 2002 Le Mans from ventura-mca.com made in New Zeland but i purchased mine from there distributor in Washington ST USA. The system includes mounting brackets, top bag, rain cover, the upright piece that holds the actual top bag is detachable so does not detract to much from the looks of the Guzzi, Quality stuff and everything mounted up ok if a little finicky, this is soft luggage by the way and goes good with my Techno side bags,i to was looking at Hepco Becker but a little to pricey for me right now plus this stuff turns into a backpack with optional straps,i think mine is the 35 ltr one which expands, you can also purchase another one or a larger modal and then zip them together for more capacity,i could try to send pics if anyone's interested, have a hard time getting pics to this site. Stu
  4. Greg yes i'm in Houston but not the one your thinking of as in Texas,i'm in Houston British Columbia Canada,Pity. From your other post on my topic on my mods you indicated you work in a bike shop,is this correct? So my question to you is how would you loosen up the front of my OEM crossover had a few good ideas already so one more cant hurt and what does your Pc111 setup cost,i suppose with the Ti cans,Stucchi, snorkels pulled off,K&N in the stock air box i will need to remap event'ually Yes,No,not in any hurry for the stuff right now anyway as i'll be up to my neck in snow any day now, like tomorrow. Thanks Stu.
  5. So my Stucchi arrived today thanks Arek, and i'm getting stuck in got all the bolts out and everything off fairly strait forward but how do i get the old crossover to break loose on the front end?was thinking of a few light taps with a screw driver but don't want to damage it,a bit of wood, also do i use all the rubber dampers for the hanger. Stu.
  6. Hey dar De Ben I've got just the thing for you it's a 1992 Suzuki GSX1100 G,shaft drive putting out about 103hp,upright er go's,comfy all day riding and just a rocket ship on the road,it will put some of the modern sport bikes to shame, the mid range torque on this bike is something to behold,i don't think it's been matched even today. I'm not selling mine but there on eBay quite often and go for around $2.500 to $3.500 here in North America with really low miles on some of them and good shape, like i mean they look like they just came out of the dealers showroom,my 2002 Le Mans is great i love it but for long distance hauling my G as there called in the G forum,gsx1100g@yahoogroups.com well you get the idea, they only made them for three years never caught on for some reason but have become something of classic with people in the know, and can you say reliable some of the chaps in the group have over a 100.000 miles on them having never even touched the motor well i see i'm starting to ramble so i'll say toodle's good luck with your search. Stu.
  7. Thanks Tom and all,i looked at the pictures of your bike Tom and your cans are the same as the ones i have,do not misconstrued "AH",who's make are they anyway?i got mine off eBay. So it would seem from the reply's that PC111 is the way to go,I also clicked on the threads you provided and saw Al A's mod on his air box top and i had already pulled my snorkels off which seemed to gain me some mid range, has anyone tried this,i know Greg Field said he did,not sure i want to start cutting into my air box anyway as when i started my visit to it getting that front nut off, what a bloody nightmare,"Nuff Said"only the Iti's could come up with an abortion like that,no offense to any Italians in the group. A couple of reply's seem to suggest getting the suspension sorted first meaning What?i'm not putting out for Olin's if that's what they mean,or is it just a matter of tuning in what i already have, doesn't seem that bad now and I've been riding bike's for 45 years, course that could mean i've never known what a well setup bike is,"DAH",anyhooo's before i write a novel i'll crawl back in my cave for the night. Cheers Stu.
  8. So the end of my second year with my Le Mans and it's been great up to now touch wood, upgrades so far include Ryland foot control relocation kit and oil pressure gauge,Throttlemeister barend weights with throttlelock,Guzzi Ti cans, polished valve covers,Gustafsson higher windscreen not yet installed,Stucchi crossover on the way,PIAA 85 110 headlight bulb,if you dont' have one of these installed your driving blind at night and they only suck the same amps as a 55 65 bulb, already had K&N air filter in stock air box and i pulled the snorkles off the intakes. Soooo' what i need to know now is whats next,as in the dred'id remapping,i just checked the thread out from 2005,more than i could deci'pher or want to"IE"Power Commander,Tuneboy,Blah Blah, dont' want to start another war on this subject just need a few helpfull hints on if it's worth the effort or $ or is nec'essary with the minor mods i've done so far,it seems to be running o k as is but i'm no mechanic either. Any help from the pro's in the group on this subject will be much appreciated "and so it begins" Thanks Stu. PS checked Guzzi Tech already.
  9. Dont' want to hurt your feelings mate but like a women looks are all you have to go on at first glance so has to tick some of the boxes, hence when i saw my Le Mans on Craigs List.com a community sales site on the computer over here in Canada,"Nuff said" Dont' care for it myself age probably has something to with it, and it depends on who they are marketing it to,the younger crowd go for the crotch rockets so 1100 cc might not be in there budget range let alone insurance and they tend not to do much touring also. To much of the recent styling seems to be going towards the Transnformers Tonka toys look, can you say B King,V Max,i know we have to move forward "IE"us older buggers will be in the pine box not to far down the road so they have to get new customers on side, gas tanks say a lot about the styling of a bike espe'cially from the side view and the one on this bike is just plain "UGLY"along with these new fangled mufflers there putting on,well i see i'm writing a book so i'll crawl back into my cave now,are we asleep yet. Toodles STU.
  10. Dam it i new it was an o and not an e in his last name o well, not a pun,yes super sleuth indeed allthough being a x Limey i have to put in a little plug for Sherlock and some of his comtem'porary's "IE"Insp Morse,Insp Barnaby from Midsummer Murders, thats the thing when your single even at my age to much time to watch TV, 7 months of winter will do that. Cheers Stu.
  11. Thank you Gentleman for all your help i think Toms reply my prove to be correct,i just pulled my rear calliper off and theres not much pad left,it all come's back to me now when i had the rear bearings done last year the mechanic said the pads were allmost toast,"AGE". Ratch you should have been a comedian, did'nt sound like the begger,no two up for this guy, what a way to spoil a ride,as for the trollop that might have been close but as i've not been around one in a while in truth i would not know. I did order pads with the side stand engine interlock switch which finaly arrived after nearly three months so i guess my little Gray Cells as Hercuel Pierot puts it were working somewhat. Toodles Stu. PS Try this WWW.mgnoc.com, Rich Maund gives a little advice, you might have allready seen this.
  12. I'm fairly new to Guzzis so am still trying to find my way around,i have this weird sound that seems to be coming from the rear of the bike at low speeds, coming to intersections, parking lots, and so forth. Can't seem to nail it down,it's not constant but very noticeable when it appears, does'nt seem to efect the running of the bike at highway speeds. I replaced the two rear wheel bearings last year on a ride, was warned about there frail'ty and it came to pass not two months after i purchased the bike. So what i want to know is could this sound i'm hearing have anything to do with the cush drive,it looks like there's another bearing in there is this correct? I'm a bit out in the boonies in Northern British Columbia Canada so dont' have the Guzzi expertise near by,my local Garu's were'nt much help, good guys but not used to dealing with Italian moto bicycletta's,apolo'gys for the ramble i'll go now. Thanks Stu.
  13. Heres the pic of the end of the gun, notice how i ground down the tip,be carefull when doing this i screwed up my first try. the tip swiv'els either way from verticle to par'allel, works great on the front Uni Joint Zerk fitting with a bit of fiddleing putting it on and off. In North America you can get the fitting in Ace hardware stores and just fit it to a regular grease gun with the flexable hose, you dont have to remove anything from the bike surely a better way than some of the story's iv'e read on this subject. Cheers Stu.
  14. Jens i'm new to this site so i cant' say i've read any of your threads but you seem to be held in high regard which says a lot of what you have ment to this site,so good luck with your new ride. I to was looking at the F800 with longing,i see many comeing my way up here in Northern British Columbia Canada as i'm on one of the two main routes to Alaska,i saw one today parked in the parking lot of one of our cafe's as i went for a ride on my 2002 Le Mans, he had all the u'sual stuff for the long ride, aluminum panniers and top case and everything else you would need,i think i saw a couple of spare tires in there to,it's truly amazing how many bikes make the trek up to Alaska in one summer season, you might want to try it some day. Cheers Stu.
  15. I LIKE CANS "whoops",while the Guzzi in the pic look's nice and clean mufflers sweeping up seem to just enhance a bike and make it whole, without them it's like a limb has been chopped off and besides the Guzzi motor look's like a big lump anyway and even more so with the muffler underneath like that, just my 2 cents. Stu.
  16. Yah got my box'es mixed up not something you want to do "Nudge nudge wink wink",anyhoo's i ment the rear transmission box on the rear wheel hub,so whats the answer to my original question. Stu.
  17. So speaking of manuals i was looking at mine for the rear bevel box oil level so i can change it,i've got a 2002 Le Mans,in the manual it shows B as being the top plug A as the middle plug and of course C as the drain plug, but when you read thr Italian English they say A is the filler plug and B is the level plug,as A is lower than B well you get where i'm coming from,"Confused in Canada" Also when i checked in with the Guzzi dealer after i bought the bike they recommend'ed 75-90 as apposed to the manuals 80-90 dont' know if 5w makes much diff'erence any thoughts on this, apolo'gys for highjacking the thread a little. Thanks Stu.
  18. I also got the Ace hardware fitting up here in Canada and ground the tip down a little, and got it on the front zerk with not to much dinking around, The harder part was getting it off but a few taps with a long screw driver and job done dont' have to remove anything. When i read some of the previouse threds on this topic it sounded like some kind of torture,i thought there had to be a easyer way,you have to make sure the fitting is on top of the shaft of course then i sit on the ground faceing rearward with the grease gun between my legs and manoeuvre the grease fitting in to place,if anyone wants to see the fitting i could post it. Ratchetback thanks for the info on the eratic RPM idle,i found the problemo it was at the end of the throttle cable where it joines the plate near the throttle body was hung up,"Live and Learn" STU.
  19. Just finished installing an oil pressure gage to my 2002 Le Mans and while i was at it i took the snorkles off the airbox, was going to do something more radical but after reading the forums on airbox mods i deci'ded to take the low road,so when i started her up i've got this eratic idle,"IE" 5.000 then down to 3.000 up to 4.000 "Blah Blah"what the Frig is going on? I'm new to Guzzis but not motorcycles,i'm not what you would call a mechanic but have some limited knowlage but know bugger all about EFI,any ideas as to what might be going on throttle cables were moving freely. Thanks Stu.
  20. Yep i did the same after reading this forum in what seemed almost torcher to get to the front grease fitting,i bought the ace hardware swiv'eling grease head ground it down a little and sat on the ground facing to the rear with the gun between my legs,a bit of fiddleing to get it on the zerk, did'nt need to remove anything, found it harder to get it off the zerk, ended up useing a long screwdriver and tapped it off with a small hammer, like you said only the Ity's could come up with a boondogle like that, though i do like my LeMans. Stu
  21. The pin on the side stand that activates the interlock bent on my V11 last year, was having a food break came out pressed the starter,"nothing",tried to bump start it "Ditto"then i rememberd this problem from another site and cut the wire feed right off, problem solved. Drove away a few times with the side stand down till it sank in,"Age",Later in the summer in a parking lot i pressed the starter with the bike reading neutral let out the clutch the bike jumped about three feet broke the left side signal light and a couple of small scratches on the fairing, false neutral nuff said,iv'e got one on order it might make it here before the end of the summer, the whole thing with the wireing is $70 Canadian, dont' know if this helps you i did without mine till i got the false neutral dont' want that to happen again Stu.
  22. New to Guzzi's and am trying to get the rear wheel off, have the axel pulled as far as the the rear drive, going to keep it in to hold it up,have the front wheel in a wheel chock stand and the back lifted with a track stand, the rear brake caliper is out of the way but the thing is the rear track stand is stopping me from pulling the wheel to the left for exstraction. So what i want to know is can i block up under the sump so i can pull out the rear track stand with no ill efects to the sump cover "IE" will it take the waite?thanks in advance. Stu.
  23. Yep that would be me also, hav'nt had any work done there yet as such, but when i bought my V11 in North Van last year the chap i bought it from suggested i work with them as apposed to British Italian motorcycles,i droped in to see Gord on the way out after i purchased the bike and was impressed with him and as i'm up near Smithers there are not to many options where i am. Any of you chaps going to come up this way on that trip thats going to Stewart up here in North central B.C. at the end of May,would love to get together with some fellow Guzzi riders and i've been to Stewart and Hyder many times over the years, can you say "Hyderized"190 proof hooch it's legal just dont' get close to any flame. Stu.
  24. Yep thats what i did to,bigger pipe and an auto body mallet but if i'd not seen Hals post i woud'nt have had a clue worked out great for me to thank christ, was mortified when i dinged it,men are funny about there toys as in exspensive add on's,no wonder the opposite sex think whe're a little deranged. stu.
  25. Yes i know what you mean with the hyderized thing,i was up there many years ago also we had the Alaska King Crab dinner at the King eddy hotel and went over to hyder for the 190 proof,i through down a couple then the crab decided it wanted to exit my body,"nuff said",i made it half way across the dance floor running for the washroom felt like a real pillock and what a waste of good crab to the rest of the evening was uneventfull. Greg thanks, just give me an ETA and i'll make my plans on that,i am off work that two weeks but had allready made plans to be somewhere else,we're only working a three day week right now so i might not be going anywhere but sure would like to fit this in if i could. Stu
