    Bad news

Dare i ask who,i'm in B.C. also though a little further north than you i think, near Smithers,i'm planning a trip across to Ontario later this year and will probably get a service done before i leave,no M.G. dealers up here of course, there are two in the Okanagan,Kamloops and Kalowna, does any one know anything about these? Went to the one in the valley on the way out of Van after i purchased my V11,the guy out front was real snotty, the guy out back was great, the chap i bought the bike off said he did'nt care for British Italian Motorcycles on Powel st for what ever reason any info you can give would be much appreciated. Thanks Stu.
  4. Why on earth would you want to put something like that on your Guzzi fairing?are you going to use a six inch nail to!no offence intended, just seems a little over the top,if you could somehow intergrate it into the fairing then it might look ok but a big lump of metal sticking out"Not" As an aside i just purchased a Guzzi belt buckle off ebay, was a old brass one 1977 it says on the back, who knows. One other thing while i'm here does anyone know where i can get touch up paint for Guzzi's specif'ically 2002 Le Mans,i think the colour is called Champagne Silver, thanks in advance. Stu. ps, i've also got a curved buckle but it's cheap and shiney,or was till i sanded it down,i got it from the UK.
  5. I bought one of these, nice buckle but scratches real easy which gives it the lived in look,as an aside can any one tell me where to get touch up paint for Guzzis,"IE" 2002 V11 Le Mans, colour is called Champagne silver i belive, thanks in advance. Sullvarni.
  6. Hav'nt been in this forum long but have noticed you two hold a lot of sway in one way or another, which is ok to a point, but i just wish you would kiss and make up if your in the same area,"kidding",Mazda rotarys are some of the best engines that were ever made,"IE" 1300cc putting out a Gazillion HP they had to gov'ern the rev's otherwise the motor would rev till it disintigrated,i forget what year it was they won Le Mans with that Prototype, but it sure put the big boys in there place for a while. The problem with the production models was the cone shaped pistons would ware rarther quickly and gas mileage was not to great, the latest version in the RX8 has been a bit of a flop i think more to do with the design of the car, dont see to many on the road, anyway back to Guzzi stuff, does anyone know where i can get touch up paint,iv'e got a 2002 Le Mans,i think the colour is called Champagne' silver, thanks in advance. Let Me Atta, Stu.
  7. I know this subject has been flogged to death already but i had to post my 2 cents after reading all the pre'vious posts on greasing the front U joint of which some seemed almost a form of torture for what was being achived, will post pic of grease gun later. I did a combination of the 160 degree piv'oting head on the grease gun from Ace Harware, there are pics in other posts on this subject, also ground down the tip a little,be carefull here overdid the fist one, then made sure the rear U joint grease nipple was pointing down to the ground, not the one on the shaft the one in the U joint itself, this also makes getting at that one easier to. Next is the tricky bit getting the end of the gun on the front nipple,i positioned myself sitting on the ground facing to the rear, stand the gun on the ground between your legs and feed the end of the guns flex hose, only the last 8"is solid, and with both your hands situate the end of the grease gun on the nipple, this is a bit of a pain, took me about 4 or 5 mins of dinking around and "Wallah",nothing to remove from the bike"IE"rear mud guard, shaft, wheel, "BlahBlah". The hardest part if anything is getting the bloody thing off the nipple,i ended up useing a long screw driver and a small hammer and gently tapped it off, this would seem to me to be a little less work which i'm a big fan of when it comes to bike main'tenance, has anyone ever tried to drill an ac'cess hole in the cover over that end of the shaft? Hope this helps for anyone else wanting to make this chore a little easier to do,need some info on paint for a 2002 V11 Le Mans,i think they call it Champagne Silver, does anyone know where to get touch up paint, thanks in advance. Stu.
  8. Johno i to just got my 2002 Guzzi v11 LeMans this year in British Columbia Canada, also have the BT020's on mine, dont' like em cant' say why really, just dont' inspire confidance. Thinking i might put on Avon storms, i have them on my 1992 Suzuki GSX 1100g shaft drive road roadrocket great tire wet or dry, other options are Dunlops new roadsmart have read some good reviews on this tire,ul'timately though i think i'm going to go with the Pirelli Diablos,Italian tires for an Italian bike nuff said,as for tire pressure 33 fr 36 re how hard can it be,not a pun. As an aside where are you in NZ,have always wanted to visit your part of the world, have a few of your compatriat's here in northern British Columbia. Cheers Stu. tr
  9. You chaps did'nt even men'tion Avon, there storm tires are some of the best tires i've ever encounterd wet or dry conditions, ware and grip. I've got near 50 years riding on a range of steeds and think the technol'ogy around today is amazing,"IE"dualcompound treads and such,i dont' like the BT 020s that are on now,as a lot of people seem to say they dont' inspire confidence, not something i can put my finger on"Weird" The new Dunlop Roadsmarts seem to be getting good reviews and i'm inclined to slap a pair on when the BTs die which might be sooner than later,i've got the 180x55s on the rear and they seem oversized for the bike, any opinions on this?i see some of you have a more reasonable 160s or 170s on this seems a little more appro'priate size for V11s,maybe i dont' ride fast enough any more allthough some of the kids i ride with at the first stop for a beer or a puff say"Where's the fire Grandad" bloody cheek. Cheers Stu.
  10. Bit of a dozy question this but does anyone know the size of the Banjo bolt for the oilfeed lines between the cylinder heads on a 2002 V11 LeMans,i could check it myself but it's hard to get at and i'm lazy. Thanks in advance Stu.
  11. Thanks Hal i'll give it a go at the end of the riding season,my ding was under the clamp that holds the muffler so i just polished up a thin piece of tin and put it over the ding, hardly noticable actually. One more thing when you put the packing back in did put the silicone back on and what kind is it. Cheers Stu.
  12. I think you guys are taking it all a little to ser'iously as regards the mags,i buy them all and take each on merit in any given month, somtimes there good lots of content, other times not so,in the off season for those of us in those climes things tend to degrade. I would suggest that trying to keep everybody happy all the time is a tough job and i think on the whole most of them do quite well, the ones i rate right now are, All Metric RoadBike,Rider, and in my part of the world Cycle Canada,Canadian Biker,as regards Cycle it was proberbly the best mag over this side of the pond before it's demise',i just won one on Ebay Nov 81 it has two art'icles of intrest to me,one was on a 82 Yamaha XJ650 RJ which i still have, the other was on a Moto Guzzi V50 Monza,so there you have it my 2 Cents. Stu.
  13. Dont' know if you saw my question in your post, just want to know how difficult that is to do for an average mechanic,"IE" me,i just dinged mine also,"DAH". Thanks Stu.
  14. Thanks for the info, have just dinged mine, wanted to slit my bloody throat when i did it,not paying attention when putting the side stand down"Nuff Said". Will waite till the end of the season to take a crack at it,mines on the inside of the muffler so not to visible, how mechan'icly inclined are you?i'm average do you think i could do it? Thanks Stu.
  15. Where do you get the Omrons?I guess we are B.C. soulmates,i'm up in Houston between P.G. and Rupert, dont' know what that gets us,but Hi anyway. Stu.
  16. Delayed responce,Yes we have some wonderfull mountain vista's here in British Columbia, like your rocky mountain states,up here where i am we just went on a ride this long weekend to the coast to Prince Rupert 650 miles round trip, weather was good allthough a little cool going through the coastal mountains. Had my first runin with the dreaded sidestand interlock thingy, after breakfast i came out to start LaGuzzi,"Nothing"having read about this situation on many forums that was the first thing i looked at. I got down into the "Nitty Gritty" so to speak, and found that the bolt that compresses the pin in at the end of the interlock wireing was bent to sh^*,after trying to jump start it to no avail'i stripped the end of the wireing off and twisted the ends together and taped it,no more problems, but of course now i can pull away with the side stand down,i'll leave the rest to your imagination, just one more thing to remember before taking off,or down. stu.
  17. So whats the reason for going down to a smaller size. Stu.
  18. Shemale "NOT"my riding buddys already give me heck when i shave my legs in the summer to ride my bi'cycle, most of them ride cruisers so i get to ride with them because it's not Jap Crap, they've given me a new name,Stuarti Sullvarni,as opposed to stuart sullivan. My other rides are a 92 Suzuki GSX 1100 G,same inline four motor as the big GSXRs but tuned for torque and with shaft drive, sort of sport tourerish,it's a real rocket ship, scare the pants off my cruiser buds, did'nt sell well in North America but has quite a cult following now,i'm in there forum to,gsx1100g@yahoogroupes.com,good bunch of people. They thought i'd gone over to the Dark side when i told them i was purchasing a Guzzi,my other ride is a 1982 Yamaha XJ 650RJ SECA,shaft drive also,it's being updated right now, always liked the VFR was something i wanted to own also,if i was J Leno i'd have one of everything, are you asleep yet,you take care. Cheers Stu.
  19. Hi Nan welcome, seems you went through the same process i went through when i saw mine on Craiges list and knew i just had to have it,can you say love at first site, and i already have two other bikes. i'm new to this site to,got my 92 V11 LeMans in Feb from Vancouver up here in the Great white North, looking at your pictures thats what i call biking weather, christ i'm still wearing my electric vest up here 500miles north of Vancouver,Grin and bear. You've got all the mechanical expertise'from everybody allready so no need to go there,i'm not that way inclined any way,oil change ,spark plugs, blah blah, thought your come back was quite good when nobody welcomed you to the Forum,i also did'nt get to many bites, though i did post on the Polforum"Idiot",maybe i should have changed my gender. Anyway enjoy,i'm loving mine, they are right about one thing this bike has oodle's of char'acter even if i'm freezing my Kulyackaki's off. Stu. PS tire size, mines got a 180/55.17 on the rear is this normal?anyone!
  20. Well here's my 2c,i've got the Avon storms on my 1992 GSX 1100 G and have been totaly blown away with there performance even more so in the "WET",i plan on putting them on my V11 LeMans at the earl'yist opportu'nity, they are the latest dual compound tire and seem to have great ware. Stu.
  21. while the MRA windshield is nice and looks quite func'tional i found this site, there in Florida,bikesreen.com and just find Moto Guzzi and follow the links. I orderd one yesterday,it's the same shape as the V11 screen but is 5"s taller, cost was $109 US,i'll drop a post when i have it installed. Stu.
  22. I to have just purchased a 2002 V11 Le Mans which i finaly got to ride yesterday,it's been a long winter up here in Northern British Columbia, coldest April i've ever seen up here, where's this globle warming crap it's not up here. What a wonderfull bike!i fell in love with it as soon as i saw it on Craiges list, now i've ridden it even more so,always wanted to own an Italian exot'ic from the moment i saw my first Ducati in England in the early 60s,all i could afford back then was a Honda Passport 50cc,i pretended i was Hailwood,Redman,Phil Read,Ago."Blah Blah"Christ i could barly keep up with the double decker buses on it,but what fun,my introduction to the two wheeled u'niverse. Owned a lot of bikes since and until i bought the Guzzi my ride for the last 5 years has been a 92 Suzuki GSX1100 G Shafty,an absolute tourqe monster, scary fast comfortable fully loaded naked tourer, still have it,cant' bring myself to parting with it yet,but one can only ride one bike at a time so we will have to see what transpiers. Well dont' want to bore you to death with what is more or less my first post,i did do an introduction post but i put it in the Pollforum section under Sullvarni, apol'agys, one last thing,i need some bar weights as i'm not used to the vibe's after my oh so smooth 1100cc Suzuki, someone preposed Throttlemeister, anyone use these? And i need to get a higher windshield for the standard fairing,Gusstafson plastics in Florida make a higher one for this bike, anybody have any info on this product. Thanks Stu.
