First long ride since last summer. Tacked on a couple of days to last weekend and headed for Blenheim to visit family. East coast north of Kaikoura still has a lot of road works as a result of the earthquakes a few years ago so you have to be patient with numerous stop/go guys. What was a 4 hour trip is now 6 hours. Return trip was quicker but colder from snow that had fallen previous day. Bike went well. Just clicked over 60,000 ks. Rally season coming up here so should be able to get a few more rides in.

Thanks guys for the advice. I surpose torque on these bolts wont be that much so helicoil is way to go.

Hi MartyNZ
I won't have time this weekend so no panic. But many thanks for the offer
Time sert is not cheap. Best price I've got is $220 for kit. That's from Wurth with works discount. Rep trying to get me a better price (Fellow motorcyclist)
Will be worth it if I have to end up replacing all 16 threads!
-
Many thanks Doc.
I want to order kit today and forgot to bring bolt to work

I've got 3 bolts in tappitt covers on my RM that the threads are stripping out. As these bolts are being taken out each time I do valve clearances I'm thinking a Time-sert thread repair is the way to go rather than helli coil as they are stronger. What size do I need?

Oil leak has not gone away. I now suspect its the Neutral switch/sensor that is leaking. I've read of this happening with Aprilla's & late model Triumphs. Does anyone know of it happening in Guzzi's? I've ordered one from Moto Kiwi. I'm planning on going to Sundown Retreat Rally this week end so hopefully its here before then.
Hi Tinus89 - Thanks for the confirmation. I will contact Don at Motiv and see if he has any left. I see it was welded with engine still in place. What did you do to protect electric's?

After taking Tank, airbox & starter motor off found leak was coming from sensor on left hand side of gearbox. Great that it wasn't a cracked gearbox. Gasket/washer was not doing its job. Used RTV & thread sealant until I can get replacement washer/gasket. While I had every thing off I checked about mounting the plate under air box. Found on my RM that there is no mounting points on the frame. Is anyone else's like this?

I have the part 120290 - which is identical except with a smooth black finish - not the wrinckle paint.
A few weeks ago I sent one case to another guy in New Zealand. You can contact him if you want to get references to me.
Rolf
Hi Rolf, Thanks for that. I read on MG Riders FB page here in NZ that someone else had same problem.
I need to remove remove tank & airbox to determine that crack in gearbox is cause of problem. Then I can decide what i'm doing

Can anyone find someone who stocks the plate? i.e. part no GU01202830
I have had no luck - all manufacturer does not stock this part.
My RM has the leak. Need to find/make a tray to go under gearbox and on exhaust to stop dip and subsequent blue haze.
Hi Nigel, I see a reference to a supplier here: https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20337&do=findComment&comment=231113
You may have to paint the red finish black for your bike.
Hi Marty, Thanks for the link. We should go for a ride sometime. I promise not to cover you with to much oil

I've got same problem. Had sump off to replace gaskets in hope it cured small oil leak. When I tighten sump bolt half of thread in sump came out. Off to source a Time-sert

Just clicked over 1,000k's on Metzler Roadtec 01's. 120/70 Front & 170/60 rear.
Best tyres I've hand on V11.
I've run Metzler Z6, Z8 & Pirelli GT Angels.
Roadtecs are stable & give neutral steering. Grip of GT's probably a bit better. In wet - not found any yet
Mileage - will let you know in a year.
Off to Guzzi Rally in North Island this week which will chew up 1,500ks so maybe less than a year

Any chance of some photos of how you have fitted the Givi tank bag?
I've fitted one to my RM (Posted some where here)and would be interested to see how you have done it.

Replaced hose. Fun task that was. Ended up removing coils and fuel pump to get better access. Used rubber grease on inside of end's of hose and pipe. Made hose much easier to slip over end of pipe. It took 6 weeks to get hose but price was only $NZ20.
Doc, if not there already, checking this hose would be a good add to the list of things to check when the tank is off.

Seeing you have tyres off rims why don't you get angled valve stems put in rims. Make sure you get the 8.3mm ones. I got mine from www.flyingmile.co.nz but I would think you can get them in USA. Makes checking pressure much easier.

Has anyone tried Metzlers Roadtec 01s?
I've gone through a couple of pairs of Pirelli GT Angels and thought I would try something different

Any chance of posting a picture of bike?
What brand/model of tank bag is it?

Cleaned off oil from sump etc Friday night. Checked again Saturday oil back again. Cleaned up breather hose tightened hose clamps. Sunday cleaned up sump and went for 100 km ride. Checked for any oil leaks and there where none. Success? Maybe. Got fingers crossed. New hose on order current one showing signs of cracking. Will be in stock in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile off to Dunedin (400ks) this weekend to see family. Did trip up to Blenheim via Kaikoura Quake coast a couple of weeks ago with leak so should be ok. Still getting dirt of bike - lots of road works. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyNjMnUkhww. Not my pictures.
