  1. Both are great mile eaters. The earlier Norges had too soft suspension. Gave a cushy ride, but handling suffered. There was a problem with the November 06 oil pump. Feel is about the same, including the top heaviness. That surprised me.
  2. Sorry, Phil. .I've seen shipments from Oz take 3 or 4 weeks, yet one made it to NZ as fast as local. Yours is green, too.It would have taken another day for the red to dry. Docc covered the shipping, though, maybe that's the problem??
  3. Absolutely. Sag is the most important thing to get right. Without that, you're just whizzin in the wind.
  4. I'm a fan of zinc chromate. I've seen really old aircraft fuselage tubing that hasn't rusted a bit. Has anyone tried the extender yet? There's probably a reason Guzzi put that slot on there. I'm just hoping they all fit ok, and the suspense is killing me.

  7. Talk to me about the hard bags that fit the Techno racks..
  8. Back when I was regularly taking the Centauro wheels to the local dealer for tires, when he asked how many miles said "What? 'Busas get better mileage than that.." I personally think it's the V twin firing pulses, but I could be all wet.
  9. I sent emails to all, but all continental US shipments were $3. All overseas shipments were $13.50 The one to Canada eh? was $9.50 No fondling charges..
  10. Whew! They're on their way. Minor rant: Why in the world do they have me fill out customs declarations on line with all the information on them, including email addresses, phone numbers, etc. Print them out, and the girl in the post office has to type it all in anyway??
  11. Uhhhh.... what's up with the chicken? Who makes that motorcycle?? It's not in my database..
  12. You're back Chuck, not a slow trip i see Ciao You mean 2016-09-04_04-32-01 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr this?
  13. Sorry, folks.. didn't get them out today. Dorcia and I put 4 hours in it filling out customs declarations in triplicate, getting packing material, etc. I have a pup I'm training to run the CNC, so I had to spend some time with him. Tomorrow for sure. For you out of the country guys, I'll email you shipping and fondling cost after we go to the post office tomorrow.
  14. Scud, notice the difference on the flats of your pawl compared to the one I surface ground. 1-005 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr 900 miles with no sticking shifter so far.. I'm *not* saying that's the cure, but it's promising.
  15. A kid that I've mentored a little did that on some Ti cans that were really beat up, and he'd gotten cheap. (Guzzi content) They look fine.
  16. Yesterday morning at the Ohio rally, we'd had a killer dew/fog during the night. All the luggage I had was strapped on the the seat and Guzzi rack. Looked liked the Beverly Hillbillies. Got ready to go, punched the button and racheta racheta racheta. Hmmm. One more time. racheta racheta racheta. You know the feeling when you're hundreds of miles from home and it won't start.. Took off my helmet, pulled the earplugs, and the fuel pump isn't running. Untied all the luggage, pulled the seat and went for the fuel pump fuse. Looked fine, so I stuck it back in and wiggled it around. Turned the key, and the fuel pump was working. Packed everything back on and blasted off. So. This morning, I pulled the relays and fuses and shot them with some Caig DeOxit. Magical stuff. I recommend it.
  17. Kool. Never have seen a guy play cello standing up like that.
  18. I haven't forgotten the lucky 19 that get em. 2016-09-05_09-30-39 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr I'll spray a coat of wash primer on the other side and get them out tomorrow with any luck at all. For those of you that would still like one (or several) I'll check with a laser or water jet shop to see if I can get them cut ready to form cost effectively when I get time.
  19. Every ounce counts on a 500 lb. airplane.. Wow - my Sport weighs more than that! So does the Mighty Scura. They are "different" machines, designed for their own purpose..that's all. Both are a hoot to operate. I'm still occasionally amazed that we can build a machine that *flies,* though. Generations have looked at birds in the sky and thought, "if only I could do that.."
  20. Every ounce counts on a 500 lb. airplane..
  21. I know what you mean. Some metals are hard work. I just finished making attachment brackets for the new bike rack I should have fitted 6 months ago. I had a brainwave and pulled some titanium out of a scrap bin, thinking that it would match the titanium cans. What a dumb idea! I couldn't cut it, so made up a .dxf file and went to the closest laser cutter. They said "nope, 4mm thick is the limit for that stuff". Then the water cutter said "8mm? Sure, come back tomorrow with $90". That's when the fun started. I wrecked 4 drill bits and 2 taps, but at least it didn't catch fire. Then I painted the brackets black, so the idea of matching the cans was wasted. Next time I think that Ti6Al4V is a good idea for something, I'll have a beer until I calm down. I believe that the Russians make a lot of titanium stuff, which helps explain why they drink a lot of vodka. Mouser 2016-05-24_02-55-34 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr has a couple of titanium pieces. Saved a little less than a pound. What a nightmare to machine.
  22. I've never heard tractor in a cocktail dress before. Quite appropriate. I'll shamelessly steal that one.
  23. Thanks, Phil.. actually, it was more work than I expected. I've never done a run of 4130 before. Normally, when building an airplane, I'll make one of a part, and don't give a thought to how tough it is on the cutter. I used up several end mills on this "production"run. In hindsight, I should have gone to a laser or water jet shop and had them make the blanks. At first, I thought, "no big deal, I'll probably only make 10 or so." That's why I did them this way. It's so 20th century.. but it got the job done.
