  1. I also got a set from Harpers. The cans have the logo on them, but the ECU does not have the special Titanio sticker (nor does it have a stock sticker - just a blank space).

    Ditto that.

also fwiw, the passenger foot peg bracket/can hanger supplied in the kit is the same part as the stock ones from the earlier 1100 SpOrt I. I have a set to compare to, tho not sure what year they're from. I think '97. The frame adapter bracket for those could be easily made. Anyone wanting to do so, I can make a simple paper pattern and send it.

  2. I don't know if it's been mentioned, but a bike that's been stagnant for 20+ years may require a crap load of maintenance. For riding or even starting, it'll want a really good looking after.  Even when stored optimally, time takes it's toll. The cost of that may help in negotiations. All else aside, they are beautiful machines. I'd enjoy seeing her in my shop every day.

  3. Seems like the only way to retain that Daytona's high value is to not ride it. I have seen low mile ones go for far less. That would be my choice. Truth be told, I'd rather have the later 1100Sport I, ($5 - $7k) for riding.  The only "practical" reason for me to buy a bike is for the joy it brings to ride it. No disrespect to collectors. They make values go up, and it's their money.

To the back pain: I used to ride HD. My back problems were spinal compression, and being vertical made it worse. I had the goose LM  at the same time and realized that leaning forward on it was much better for my back. Arms and neck now take the weight from gravity. I can handle that pain much better than the back problem. The aggressive forward lean of the Sport or the Daytona might be too much for this old neck on a distance ride. It would make fine garage art though.

  4. Sorry I can't speak to the air hawk as I haven't used one. Seems like it might provide kind of a wobbly perch. I'm pretty sure I couldn't tolerate the tights too long. I rather like feeling free, but I'll give them a try. Anything for a bit of added comfort. Not sure what manky means Phil, but it doesn't sound good. If you ever get a chance to try out a woolly skin, you might be surprised. It isn't wet for long.

  5. About 15 years ago, while visiting Sturgis SD, I purchased a sheepskin. A real, heavy wool, whole sheepskin, dyed black. Not one of the little cut outs they sell for bikes. I'd seen old farts using them for years, and thought I may as well try it considering my ass hurt so bad. I cut it in half it was so big. Half is still large and covers part of the tank, which is handy, but doesn't look like I'm riding a buffalo. Circulates air well, and can be fluffed at every stop. It helps comfort considerably. Eleminates monkey butt for me. I use it all the time for day rides or distance. Rain is ok too, it dosen't pile up and it shakes right out. I don't even strap it down. Now I'm the old fart using it, and recommending it.

  6. ok. I need to bring down the education level for a moment. The more I read about this, the more lost I become. I'll admit it, I don't follow this. Could someone please explain to me... is something wrong with our bikes? Another poor design feature? If all is working properly, does something still need fixed? My very basic knowledge tells me you are talking about a short, albeit intermittent. ?? And, couldn't those of us who have a winter lay up just disconnect the battery? Or put in an off/on switch close to the battery?

  7. New here, first post.  I just purchased the tenni #130.  Also I just #123 parted out on ebay.

Just having a look at the registry and saw your post. Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the board !!-belated-

How did you come to part out 123? :huh2: and was 130 previously on Craigslist in nola awhile back? I was chomping at the bit to buy it back then. Gots pictures? tell us more!

  8. very nice work. I like the grey pork chops, and the dark tail.  Viewing your bike in this light reminds me how stunning a line the Sport/LM has. Against the awesome mufflers, the seat and tail really pack a visual punch. The bike is well suited to the vintage fairing.

  9. ''The rest is the same as a 2002 LeMans - or did I miss something? Too bad MG didn't put Ohlins on the Tennis.''

+ A titanium nitride coating on the fork tubes, and carbon fiber muffler 'sleeves'

yes, too bad about the Ohlins. maybe I'll find some :rasta:

  10.  That seems a reasonable amount of maintenance. I'll be happy to say that at 56k miles. 3 starters seems a bit harsh, but I'll take that over other problems. The rear wheel bearings have been addressed here, as I'm sure you are aware. I'm inclined to just check mine every tire change and replace. I don't know what to make of the rotors. You probably got the shift pawl/spring upgrade as a recall at Moto Guareschi.

Now, the clutch..... that is exciting, and encouraging. If you do change it out, do let us know the condition of the disc and flywheel. Curious minds, you know!

my paint started bubbling at 1000 mi. and finished by 3000.

    broken dash mount.

    some crusty dash bits replaced

    speedo cable and drive broken

    various leaks, some fixed

    it's done under 12000 mi.

  11. "I'll keep the Tenni in Italy"    ....what a cool thing to be able to say

to heck with the stereotypes, if you get the beamer, just don't get a matching helmet :)

I had a R11S and loved it. It was the Guzzi personality that spoke to me. The R11 was just too sanitary.

    and welcome to the colonies!

  12. I'm curious about the owner's manual Scud. Is it for a LeMans? I mean, does it say LeMans on the cover? My Tenni came with a Sport manual with no reference to a LM. Only pics of Sport's inside the cover. Harper's told me everything applies the same. If it is for a LM, and you want to sell it, let me know. If yes,... I will have a perfect condition Sport owner manual to sell/trade.
