I think a good all purpose grease should be sufficient for that.

I’ve been using Super Lube Synthetic Grease lately and I like it a lot.

Kluber Staburags is not so easy to find! Doesn’t roll off the tongue as easily either :P

That product is readily available wherever old BMW motorcycle enthusiasts gather. And it doesn't roll off anything. I learned about it when I had a K75S. Applications to the BMW drive shaft splines border religious ritual among the "faithful."

A word to the wise: although *everyone* just refers to "Staburags", the letters after the name are important. There are quite a number of products called "Staburags xxx", all with a different intended purpose. :oldgit:

I see this for  the NBU 30 PTM  that I ended up with. I reckon that is the right stuff for the drive hub. :huh2:

"Lubricating and assembly grease STABURAGS NBU 30 PTM is a solid lubricant-containing, water-resistant assembly grease that protects against tribocorrosion (fretting corrosion and fretting corrosion). It is particularly effective for outdoor applications with high humidity."

A mechanical, dial actuated, combination lock.

I am rather surprised at the "high speed, load carrying, and water resistance" characteristics for this application. :huh2:

I will personally vouch for this;
Loosens ridiculously siezed locks, to wit; 30 years unused security door latch in El Paso.
Applies easily, not sticky, doesn't linger on finger, and critically important; DOESN'T STINK.

Well the SDS says a "propriety blend of base OILS and solvents". So much for the "no oil" bit on the can.

I got a can of Houdini on the way. I am trying to restore smooth turning of the combination dial without disassembly. Or hiring a locksmith. :huh:

The lock manufacturer notes "Heavy petroleum lubricants can cause swelling and distortion of Delrin or Celcon (plastic) components. Use only recommended lubricants (AeroShell, Versilube, and Gn Metal Paste). "
