No price in particular. I assume he paid a decent price for the Cafe Sport, which is usually higher than a standard V11.

Maybe he paid a better price than I assume, don't know.

What I do know is I like the bike, nice Guzzi.

The asking price in the original ad was provided. $3500. Which seems decent to me. :D

As from 2003 MG used the satin finish. But there are early 2003 models with the bad wrinkle paint. (Now I see Docc was way ahead of me with his answer  )

2004 might be the year on the title which could differ from the model year. Something to check.

That bike was on Facebook for $3500

    Great deal !

Yes, it was. The guy apparently wasn't the most tech savvy so the ad was a little, ahem, sparse. And half in Spanish. I'm sure that threw off plenty of buyers. Not like there are a lot of buyers for a V11 Sport and not during these restrictions.

While that was a fairly high price for a V11, being a Cafe Sport it will get more money for it than a normal V11. The extra money gets you better suspension (as you know) and carbon fibre bits. I would happily pay that for a Cafe Sport if I could, and if it was in as good a shape as that one looks to be.

    Nice purchase.

Which price are you referring to?

Dave, you’re from Oregon!.... u know nothing is water proof other than seam sealed neoprene and vis-queen 😎

They say the stitch is water proof, and it’s fine for a little shower on the way to work or along the way wherever.  But if you’re really riding in the rain, which is an unfortunate reality in my riding life now and then, only a legit goretex shell over whatever else I’m wearing is really going to keep the water out.
I prefer to have a “water proof” riding  jacket, which is then fine for most riding and occasional rain showers, but any long trip means I have my goretex pullover in my bag and ready to put on over the top.  Even jackets that do a great job of being seam sealed and all that, will still wick in somewhere, so the Pullover shell rules in my humble opinion.

There are only two things I trust in the rain, my Aerostitch and my BMW condom. Of course you sweat to death in the BMW outfit so it's like it's raining on the inside of the suit, which mitigates and benefit from the rain getting in...

You have more interesting motorbikes in Norway. In the US, the average dealer has a bunch of rather boring bikes. They seem to be either worn out Japanese sportbikes or 400 kilo Harley's with a trailer behind. Much more difficult to find something "interesting."

Depends on which dealer you go to. Also where in this country you are.

Wow... Mint condition and only 3k miles! Has it been stored in a container for 15 years or so?
    What do you mean «wasn't expensive»? It's a $7000 IMHO.
    Congrats to your brother!

$7k seems a bit much, maybe over there.

$7k will get you a really, really nice Scura. Maybe a Coppa. But a Cafe Sport?

Back in February my brother came out for The One Show and despite it being a bit "brisk" we got out for a little ride. It was his first time on a V11 Sport. He didn't mind it. :D

    Fast forward to yesterday...

He and a buddy went down to SC (not too far away) and snagged this thing.

It wasn't expensive. Apparently the owner got some Italian lust and had to have it. Kept the bike inside the house. The master of the house (wife) wasn't too please with the new mistress and made him sell it.

Very low miles. Engine paint is, of course, not good. The rest looks nice. Some sweet bits on those models. Olins and carbon everywhere!

Not bad for not being green. <_<

My 20-ish year old aerostitch road crafter jacket has now been through an “overhaul”, where I spent the price of a new, cheaper jacket to just get the trusty old stitch redone. Overall worth while.

Your Aerostitch jacket wasn't waterproof? Of course after 20 years the material won't remain waterproof.

I know I’m supposed to stay at home as much as possible, but I can’t help but take advantage of the great traffic conditions right now and ride. Am I bad for this? It’s definitely a form a maintaining social distancing. I keep at least 2 seconds behind the vehicle in front of me!

You can bet we won't rat you out. :)

I've always kinda liked the look of these Triumphs. They strike a nice balance between retro and modern engineering. Just hope the quality has improved from the last 3 Triumphs I owned back in the 90's.

    Ciao

The build quality on the new Triumphs is outstanding. Heck the reliability is also outstanding. You should pop over to a Triumph dealer and take a look.

I remember calling Moto Guzzi North America in early summer 2000 when a Cycle World ad showed a brilliant green RedFrame, leaned over in action, and saying $9,999(US).

I couldn't believe they could be available after seeing an image of a black V1l Sport from EICMA 1997 (three years earlier!).

The nice lady on the phone (yeah, yeah, we used phones then. Mine had a coiled wire fastened to the wall. :oldgit:) said, "Oh, yes, they are available in the US. Your dealer has one (er, 125 miles away . . .). But they're not $9,999. $11,999."

That one was already sold, but the silver Sport was under my skin a few weeks later, $11,700US, all up and delivered to my driveway.

As I recall, prices for V11 really did not seem to change much over the production run, even with the special models (ie:Öhlins).

I feel sure my Sport will be worth that again, someday. Like when it gets dug up by archeologists. From another planet. B)

I recall (and we know how questionable that is) visiting the distributor at sometime maybe in the 90s. They were in North Carolina. I suspect I have photos of Benellis and Laverdas and probably some Guzzis. I wonder where those photos are.

Guzzi ownership I discovered is like marriage to a chick with mental issues.. They can give you hell but once you get them going right and give them love you can ride em as hard as you want and become keepers.. (hopefully that isn't considered innapropriate..😉)

    Inappropriate? Probably.

    Accurate? Definitely.

You buy one of these MGs realizing you are probably going to be the last owner of your bike. You don't speculate with these things . I know. 3 fuel tanks , 2 seats , Alpina wheels , 4 pair of slip-ons , Uh I need to stop thinking .

$15k for the Coppa....... If it were McQueen's ...Yeah .

I don't think he had it , so back to reality . I couldn't put that much in it .

How much was the sticker on it when it was new ?

    $14k-ish.

There's a guy locally who was trying to sell one for something like $15k. I could have swore I heard about other ones.

Edit: I was a bit off. I found the old thread and it was $11k and the range seemed to be 7-9k for one. I swear I'm losing it. :helmet::blink:
