  1. And here I was beginning to doubt his mechanical prowess! Personally, I prefer the low-profile black w/blue handle DB hammer. A lot harder to find when my ADD acts up though.
  2. Is this sudden onset, or has it been building? As Phil asked, compression and valve clearance would be first to check. After that, it does seem to be related to a lean condition. Dirty injectors? TBs synched?
  3. Notice how she is flawless, except for a few flaws? To my eyes (recently restored), not much to dislike. The suspension alone is worth half the asking price and $4150 is clearly negotiable. Looks like a cheapo eBay ABS plastic integrated signal/running light unit. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-7-Motorcycle-Headlight-Amber-LED-Turn-Signal-Indicators-Bracket-US/174028145959?hash=item2884e2c527:g:EFcAAOSwlvtdeboZ
  4. It seems that virtually all for sale have mods. Nothing new there. Q: How do you explain a 15+ year old unmodified Guzzi? Garage candy? Collector? Unknowing, uncaring owner? Impulse buy that subsequently sat unused? Probably all of the above and more. As to pricing, I paid the asking price of $4,950 for my '04 Ballabio, due to very low mileage, condition, mods and accessories included. For that price, one option I had in a new bike was a 300 Ninja. AYKM? Buying a Guzzi is akin to a marriage. Some guys love the old lump, warts and all, through thick and thin (docc? ), while others bail and look for something younger and faster. What I do know is that a Guzzi is the 'road less traveled', and that has always been my path.
  5. The pictured bike is basically a body kit for the Centauro. Yeah, it's got Ohlins, but being made from an existing line, upgraded components could be added while keeping the cost somewhat reasonable. And I know it's a matter of national pride, but why not let the Japanese do the electrics?
  6. I have an equally bad back. In 2008, Son and I had to unload a 600 pound air compressor from a rental truck onto the concrete at my garage. The lift on the truck would only hold it lying down, so there was quite a bit of estimating and pondering, but we finally got it to do a controlled slide onto a pallet. We then crab-walked it in to the garage. No idea what we would have done had it a mind of its own. I suppose I would be posting on a wheelchair forum.
  7. What's the ceiling look like? Do you have a chain hoist? A car engine "cherry picker" would be near ideal, but no help setting it in the frame.
  8. OK. I dragged out my official V11 Workshop Manual. It is far less specific , um, organized than, say, Japanese manuals, which seem to specify the torque of everything in one section. It enumerates most torque values on one page - but then males you search section by section for the rest. The triple clamp values are followed by the standard toque figures for (apparently) non-critical bolts and nuts. Triple Clamp Torque Values: Lower Triple clamp bolts 25 Nm Upper Triple clamp bolts 25 Nm Standard Torque Values: Screws and nuts ø 4 3-3.5 Nm Screws and nuts ø 5x0,8 6-7 Nm Screws and nuts ø 6x1 8-12 Nm Screws and nuts ø 8x1,25 25-30 Nm Screws and nuts ø 10x1,5 45-50 Nm
  9. Was thinking that maybe the factory serial numbered the warranted trannies to see if any of them came back, or what issues they developed. Who knows?
  10. I posted this elsewhere, but across the street from MG at Mistral is the bike they could have made. A custom Centauro, but they killed that basic model off, too. Look, we're not going Duc hunting - we just want lighter therefore quicker, handling and some looks. It's OK if it's a parts bin bike. Hello, Piaggio??? Anyone home?
  11. If all other sources fall through, I do live near Renton Coil Spring, which does race car and aerospace stuff - being right next to Boeing. Browsing their site might bring a tear to any machinists, metalurgists or other cutting oil and metal shaving-covered types out there. Would not be cheap, but other than carrying spares and installing the shift cover with Dzus fasteners for roadside repairs, what's a bloke to do? Also know of a fellow who has a certain shop make batches of gun springs for him.
  12. Could that perhaps have been a warrantied unit?
  13. Well, not exactly like that. Maybe a pseudo MGS-01 that was reasonable, road-legal and 'semi' affordable. 100HP. 450+/- Pounds. They could easily do it. They simply choose not to. So, if we are not into adventuring, touring or cruising, we are stuck with V11s. I'll readily admit that there are much worse places to be stuck.
  14. I fully realize that the flip side of 'which to ride' is 'which to wrench on'.
  15. Oh, which Guzzi to ride? What mood am I in? I sure wish I had your "problem"!
  16. Anyone here also active on Wildguzzi Guzziriders or any other local regional or national clubs? Might be some interest to be generated there.
  17. Browsing around, I stumbled onto Agostini Mandello and they offer this crossover for $275 plus, you know. Anyone know who makes it? Sadly, it looks likely to crack.
  18. Some of his stuff is on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/sch/jjkpguzzi/m.html?item=352845948013&hash=item522741e46d%3Ag%3AG2wAAOSwloJcs6MX&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
  19. I will attempt to keep tally of how many are wanted. I will gladly pay in advance. 1. po18guy (2) springs. 2. Flooky (2) springs 3. Stumble_t (2) 4. PhillipLarsen (2) 5. MGrego (2) 6. 80CX100 (2) 7. Bob Maynard (2) 8. BelAir63 (2) 9. Motormike (2) 10. JBBenson (2)
  20. If you are wrench happy, you could swap the crossover and see.
  21. Doing fairly well, with 2 out of the 5 in my garage.
  22. Might be mistaken, but the Guzzi OEM red wires are NGK. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.
  23. But 3.5mm case thickness. Of all the places for Guzzi to try to save weight!
