I discarded warranty because all our V11 are now past their coverage. What makes sense is sales perspective which probably don't amount to much. So why spend a bunch of money to manufacture drop in place replacement ECU when you are unlikely to sell any significant number? I think I am going to stick to what everyone else does. Now that I have solved my starter problem, I can live a little longer with a perfectible injection. -
Red to match V11 Le Mans? :-) my S2000 is with a really passionate guy....

I would be the happiest guy in the world if I had. Understanding a file format is easy. I am still not getting why they would make an additional ECU to correct the stock one, instead of making just a drop in replacement. This is something I can't wrap my head around. If we were talking about a new model, warranty would be an issue. What is the reason they have an add-on rather than a replacement? is it a commercial decision? the same unit can be used for many different motorcycle, just need to modify the in and out ports? Anyway, I guess Ghezzi-Bran does not even have the answer. -

A true sports car and a true money pit. I know; when you love, you do not count.... The car is with Einar and just to fix that small oil ooze, it is going to be as much as purchasing my Guzzi Le Mans last year.... I need to change the four shock absorbers too. The four of them are leaking oil through the piston. The rebound dampening is affected. If feels like when you go to the dentist for a simple cleaning lol.... they always found a bunch of other problems... -
@FreyZI would you care to make a list of the takers using google sheet on google drive? share it, so we can follow-up easily, and other interested party can also put their names in the list directly. All you have to do is to take a screen shot of the list and post it as an image here, so we know where we stand? I think you have one more taker for the red, yes?

I would not be surprised if Marc Marquez is strong in COTA, at least on race day if not in practice. FP1 will be used to make an assessment and check how everything works under real stress. Even if he has been out less time than before, we all know that to remain at the top of your game, you need to practice as much as possible doing the real thing. Missing Indonesia and Argentina will have had an effect on him. I don't think he is resuming just to say "I am back". Knowing MM93, he is coming back to win; especially here. I have seen a lot of VR46 haberdashery at Thermas de los Hondos. The venue is extremely popular with not only Argentina, but all the surrounding countries, Uruguay, Brazil, Chile. I don't know if you remember that Rossi wore the Maradona/Messi #10 Jersey on the podium. There, it makes you a lot of friends! nevertheless, the Rossi mania is going to fade away as it is right it does. The show will go on. Look at the current stats: three grand prix, three different winners and podium occupants.... isn't that great? We are voting to elect the president this week-end, I usually help the consulate. I will watch FP1 and FP2 live though. On a sad note, I got the diagnostic for my problem from Einar's this morning. It's coming from behind the bell housing; things have gotten so expensive!!! they need to drop the engine. It is going to cost more than my Guzzi...

I am late to the thread: I always wear motorcycle proof (read fall forgiving) pants. I have purchased Alpinestar jeans including knee and hip protection. I considered cargo pants sand colored because the jeans are stuffy in the Texas heat. The Alpinestar jeans are slightly elastic, making them easier to close when you indulge too much in brisket like I do. I used to wear non motorcycle jeans back when my hands did not shake. I did take a fall and I slid on a rugged surface that turned my backside into raw ground beef. After that I always wore pants that would resist abrasion. -

@Lucky Phil the reason why I seem to insist in calling the "bin" file a map, is because a "bin" file is an extension as in .bin defining a file format. Not its contents. Map is what is used in many other languages too. It is a firmware in the IT world, used by the ECU. @PJPR01 Marc Marquez will be at COTA this week-end. If he is your favorite "horse", then you will have the opportunity to see him race! Personally, I think it makes sense for him to return here. This is clearly the best place for him to come back. Now the question that everyone has: can he dominate the way he has on this track? we will need to verify that.

According to Spanish newspapers, Marc Marquez is riding a Honda 600 to understand where he stands with physical conditions. We will probably know today if he is going to ride this week-end at COTA. I feel that he will. I don't know why.

I have gone through a lot of material about Guzzidiag and TunerPro; What I seem to be missing, as far as I understand, is which map should I load into my ECU to replace the current one, which I assume is the stock one. I have read Paul Minnaert's "V11 ECU Diagnostic and Reprogramming". I like to think I learned what GuzziDiag does, and TunerPro which is used to download, edit, upload injection maps. Correct? I have read Meinolf's V11 bin, and some other threads with alternate maps to install in your ECU. Can you explain to me what difference exists between one map with the other? how do you determine the one that works best for your application? we know that our V11 have those injection issues at low rpm under some atmospheric conditions. What I liked about the contentious add-on "black box", is that it works with whatever map is in the ECU. I am not deterred by the means to install a corrected map into my ECU. I am simply not familiar with the way to determine which one is the best for my application to get rid of the injection imperfection at low rpm's. As I worked with computer before they became accessible to the public, I was also privy of auto-adaptative algorithms, used to optimize routine tasks in certain tools we were using. This is why I feel that I understand better the ECU adjuster than the proposed, improved, optimized injection maps elaborated by many here, on this forum. Maybe also because everything is done from remote. Some of the explanations are of the "follow" type. Like you, I like to understand what I am doing. I get that for the sake of simplicity, some of the instructions remain "step by step". It is fine. So, bottom line; which bin do you recommend? -

If I understand correctly, the stock ECU does not have any dynamic adjustment. It just uses points from the map with no possible variation. The "ding dong" adjusts the selected values in real time, based on the sensors information and the Lambda captor from the actual atmospheric condition . This is what that box claims to do, but it looks like a much better way to get a smooth injection and a better running engine. I have not tried to load an improved map in my ECU, but as the weather is getting warmer here in Houston, I am starting to have those low rpm coughs again. The "magic box" is 510 EUR delivered, which is not chip (pun intended). The way I read it, it replaces the need to change maps. Even with a crude map, the algorithm automatically adjusts and corrects by simply reading the sensors input and output. Obviously, that much as not been explained by whoever is on the other side of Ghezzi-Brian. I wish I could speak to someone who programed the ding dong. @docc I finally managed to get the Lonelec interface to connect to my MacBook Pro running macOS Catalina version 10.15.7. Do you know which V11 I should select from the drop down list? There are only two V11 Le Mans 2002, and V11 Le Mans Tenni. -

I translated what that add-on claims to be doing. If it works the way it is described, then it seems to be a remedy to what most of us experience on our bikes around the 3000 rpm under certain atmospheric conditions. So they just use a controller to change the input based on the output, which is easy to understand. My question is, why not replacing the original ECU rather than correcting its output? I don't think they would be worried about invalidating the warranty on old bikes. Is this because of emission testing? something having to do with legal and law? -

I have been in contact with Bruno, asking information about the ECU for the V11; The information I have is that it is not a replacement of the original ECU, but an additional one. Does anybody here tried it? it does not seem to be a Ghezzi brand. Rapid-Bike Central Unit (translated from Italian) The add-0n central unit manages the output of the stock injectors and relative ratio air/gas, in order to control the injection throughput along the entire map. The input from the Lambda sensor guaranties the perfect functioning as the injection is adapted automatically as the vehicle is driven. The injection map becomes dynamic and flexible, permanently adapted to the atmospheric conditions and the driving style. The best results are obtained at low and medium rpm, correcting the injection mishaps due to the restrictions of the emission control rules. The central unit is compatible with shifters, multiple maps, allows to increase the rpm limit up to 1000 rpm. For dual cylinder engines with two lambda sensors, it is possible to have a correction specific for each cylinder. Centraline Rapid-Bike La centralina aggiuntiva per il controllo completo della carburazione agisce sulla gestione di tutti gli iniettori originali e del relativo rapporto aria/benzina, così da poter modificare la mappa di iniezione lungo tutto l’arco della curva di erogazione del motore senza percezione di anomalie. La gestione del segnale della sonda lambda garantisce la messa a punto dell’esclusiva funzione auto-adattativa: la carburazione si aggiorna automaticamente durante la guida del veicolo. La mappa di iniezione diventa un fattore dinamico e flessibile, adattandosi perfettamente al mutare delle condizioni atmosferiche e dello stile di guida. I benefici più importanti si realizzano ai bassi e ai medi regimi correggendo le esitazioni del motore causate dalle sempre più restrittive leggi anti-inquinamento. La centralina supporta il cambio elettronico (accessorio optional), la gestione di mappe multiple, lo spostamento dei giri motore (fino a + 1000 rpm) e l’eliminazione del limitatore di velocità. Sui motori bicilindrici dotati di due sonde lambda è possibile realizzare una mappa ed un set di autocorrezione specifico per ogni cilindro. Con l’installazione del controller al manubrio, la centralina acquisisce anche la gestione del freno motore e il limitatore di andatura.

He is still planning to come back. I would not sell him short. As you said, he is a gladiator. But now his body has taken a toll, will that change the way he rides? Answer maybe at COTA or later.
