  1. I received the Snugs-Moto and did a quick test run to Louisiana and back!

    I can only be dithyrambic about the experience. You can see they are personalized with my name engraved in the molding.

    1st, they address the wind noise problem because they are before all plugs. Also, no more of the interference with the audio from said wind noise. You get crystal clear audio. I don't listen to music when I ride, only to the audio guidance from the GPS. My phone remains in my pocket.

    Now, I think Snugs-Moto have a very good setup, perfect for my application. No contraption on the side of my helmet.

    Although, I made a mistake while wearing them. I had left the speakers of my "Sharktooth" installed, and they pressed on my ears, which made the helix painful against the cartilage.

    I also had two disconnects: one with a seamless immediate reconnection, the second one, I had to stop and do a power off and on cycle to reconnect.

    The controls are on the "open dog collar", and not as easy to reach and manipulate as the Cardo and Sena that sit on your helmet. But as I don't use the controls other than before and after the ride, it is not an issue for me.

    Yesterday, Saturday 20th of April, I went to CycleGear and tried various full face helmets with the Snugs-Moto. I realized that they were much more comfortable, and I could not feel the Snugs while in them. So I removed the speakers in my Shark full face, and no more issue.

    Also, I don't think they are a mesh system. You would not be able to communicate with a pillion or other riders as other comm. allow.

  2. @Gmc28 riding in the cold on a motorbike is never going to be comfortable, whatever the crutches you use to improve the experience.

    I have never tried riding in the cold using heated grips, heated gloves, heated underwear, what not. My motto always was: rise to the occasion and take it like a man. I don't know if I would still be able to do it.

    As for ride modes, I never had any, and I always assumed the control I have of my right hand would suffice.

    I know that I should not be repulsed by technology, but I feel I don't need it, don't want it. Maybe I am stubborn, and it is very possible.

    But I always found riding in the cold exhilarating! I was in Alaska a few years ago, to see the Norther lights, and I was wondering how it would feel like riding my Guzzi in that kind of environment. At the time, I only had the V11. I am sure the Quota would not mind...

    i rented the V85tt in Mandello, as the consolation prize because the new Stelvio had just been taken/rented by someone else.  But ended up really enjoying the V85, much more than I had anticipated.  Of course lake Como area in the sun, pasta, wine, and amazing back roads in the mountains above/behind Varenna does tend to put one into a less demanding state of mind, so hopefully i won’t regret my leap into the V85 here at home. 

    If I was to succumb to the modern bike temptation, the V85 would most likely be the one. Not the V100s. I have no rationale explanation, but I think it resides with the cooling fins look of the older blocks.

    I no longer drive test anything. I did not test drive the Quota, I just bought it. My philosophy about test drives is they don't tell you much more than what you can get from the numerous videos and reviews floating on the web. This was not true for the Quota though, but for that, I did not care as it was purely a subjective desire. I was going to like it, one way or the other.

    As for that part of Italy, it is surely "enchanteresque". I worked 10 years in Italy, North to South, East to West, but there was never any job close to the Como Lake. I was based in Milan for some of the years, but spent my time in the shanty places rather than the idyllic ones ;-)

    There is very little action, few postings, so I must concluded that the two people left because of the vintage ad, which really isn't that salacious by any standards.  I could see where some women might be unhappy w it, if they have thin skin.

    I would not assume they did because of that.

    From the little experience I have with forums (I used to be on many forums before they got extinct), if the members do not post, then there is less reason to check in because there is no traffic. The problem is compounded if there aren't many members.

    Take this forum for example. Some, but not all the traffic consists of people that only come here when they have an issue with their motorcycle. Some are one timer. Once their issue has received a reply, they leave. Other forumers post trivia so when members check-in, there is something they may want to read, or not. But it keeps the forum live.

    Such as posting about trips, or places, stuff. Try to gather attention so your forum is not a dead beat place. It is not easy. Nowadays, people do not like to write, they would rather watch a video,

    I am going for a ride today, so I don't have time to check your site. But I will later.

    Are you certain the two members quit because of the photo?

    I do not see anything offending, unless those members are extremely religious. When I was working in Libya, magazines with women in inappropriate outfits were automatically confiscated as prohibited to import.

    Staying afloat for a non "video" site is getting tougher nowadays. Even Facebook. Now, a lot of the discussions have migrated to Discord. I am on a Facebook Group for Moto Guzzi Quota, but it is not the same as this forum. When you make a post, only the first few answers are directly visible, else you need to click to reveal. There is no easy way to differentiate topics. It is just like a big box where you throw in everything. Not my type of information channel. Better than nothing.

  7. I have penciled it on my calendar; it is not yet a firm "I shall be there" as I need to work out the logistics and "supply corps" of the trip.

    I am not certain "supply corps" is the exact translation for the French "Intendance" which is a military term. There also was another translation, such as Stewardship and Estate Management. If you have been in the military, you understand what it means.

  8. It seems that Joe Roberts may be riding an Aprilia next year. It is obvious that Trackhouse needs a US representant in their team, and besides Roberts, there is nobody else.

    It is early to say he deserves to be uped, but like with everything else, sometimes, being at the right place at the right time is a plus.

    The big question is, are we going to have a second MotoGP in the USA? Flatrock Motorsports Park is said to receive the FIM homologation with a shorter track configuration. The largest configuration is 9.5km or circa 6 miles, which makes it the longest out of all the current MotoGP tracks. The MotoGP configuration would be shorter at 4.3 km. If they do two GP in the USA, then they would probably take place back to back. It could replace the Argentinean GP which is probably never going to happen under the current government.

  10. I am not well experienced in Guzzi, but spark plugs coloring used to be a tattle tale before.

    We would remove the spark plugs, clean them up, install them and run the engine for a few miles and check the color to get some clue about the fuelling.

    Is your tachometer Veglia?

    If it is, the "dancing" pointer is due to a "leaking" ground inside the instrument. I have recently purchased a Moto Guzzi equipped with a Veglia affected with the same problem, and I got it fixed by a specialist in Germany. The grounding issue is very well known and easy to cure. However, opening the instrument without damaging it requires some special skills and tools. I sent both the instruments, so the pointers could be painted again, and more visible.

    Unfortunately, shipping from the USA is extremely expensive. I paid 234 USD to Germany, while the shipping in the opposite direction is 50 EUR for 5kg. But I spare nothing when it comes to making my Guzzi bellisime! (Belissima = singular).

    I have had that sort of conversation about vintage guitars; I play all my guitars, including those that could be considered collectible.

    I own one special guitar from Andy Timmons, his first signature model, which was produced in very limited number from Japan. It is not even vintage, it was made in 1999. But there is one collector who has been nagging me to sell it to him. His argument being, he has all Andy Timmons latest signature guitars, only this one is missing. He does not want to play it, just want it to complete is collection.

    I think guitars should be played, and motorcycles should be ridden. A bit of a shame to own something that may present an interest to others, and keep it close to your chest.

    It belongs to Mike Haven of Houston MGcycles. He hinted that with the right amount, he could be persuaded to part from it, but against my own belief that motorcycles should be used, I agree that this one of a kind should continue to look pretty in red.

    True; when I checked his past bids, I was also surprised that he could be interested in a humble V11, but some of his other toys were also vintage.

    I don't want to diminish Maverick Viñales' performance, but both Portimao and COTA are tracks that Maverick loves.

    Actually, the issue with Marquez (and others) has to do with the brake pads, which are pushed away from the rotors. Since Michele Pirro's accident in 2018 at the Mugello due to this issue, they have installed a brake fluid metering valve, which in theory should mitigate the effect.

    Marc had to pump the brakes. This issue combined with bad habits are hard to break, he returned to Honda mode while heading the GP, that explains the crash.

    I am betting that Pedro Acosta will win at Jerez! he is absolutely phenomenal! I was listening to the GP review, and his nickname is "sponge Bob"; everything he is being taught, he is able to put into good use immediately, without the need for adaptation.

    Also, this race should dampen the pleas for removing aerodynamic appendixes, because they impede racers to overtake. We have seen that it is not the case.

    I really thought Pedro Acosta was going to win his first MotoGP before Maverick Viñales came back out of the blue!

    He has just demonstrated that he was worthy of all the anticipation.

    He is now fourth in the World Championship classification, within a few points of the two in front of him. As incredible as it may seem, and I know it is too early, but I am thinking he may have a shot at winning too.

    Jorge Martin had nothing on him when they fought it out.

    I am not completely convinced about Maverick Viñales keeping it up but pole+sprint+race= Incredible!!!

    Enea Bastianini is back, and Francesco Bagnaia is apparently experiencing the chattering that Jorge Martin dealt reported.

    I have an o'ring pick. This is a survivor of my oilfield days, and a gift from a dentist. You can also use a scribe to dislodge them.

    Here's the spare part nomenclature. Unfortunately, the description seems to be incorrect for both item #16 and #21.

  19. I noticed the color between my cylinder head and cylinder changing from aluminum to oily brown;

    It is oil wet, so I need to change the gasket on both sides. There were no traces when I purchased the bike, and it only started to appear. Is this one of the common problem? 20 years old gasket, it almost seems normal.

    Are there any specific good quality gasket you'd recommend?
