  1. I'm really considering this trade as a good thing, ALWAYS loved the old eldo's the only thing I worry is the brakes but I'll be going slow anyway which I'm totally fine with, I want a bike I don't need to be in a hurry on. Might have to look into brake updates but maybe not if it works fine I don't blame to vroom screech the thing.
  2. fotoguzzi has the ad link, he said he had to redo something and just made a whole new one instead of editing it. good info tho how hard/expensive is it to do a disc brake upgrade? I actually thought about that right away.
  3. I've been entertaining the sale of my Guzzi for about a month now on craiglist and someone offered me what looks like a pretty sweet trade, even money wise but could anyone fill me in more about this old eldo? the motor has been completely redone in 2003 but the bike itself is in original condition would be this http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/mcy/1848596714.html for that http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ram/rvs/1857822770.html good idea? bad idea? I'd like something I can tour on thats reliable and easy to work on, won't leave me stranded and parts are easy enough to come by, I worry this might not fit those bills, I had been all about the KTM SMT which is a very different bike but there is only one dealer, an hour away in the metro and the other bike I was thinking of a triumph rocket3 which is the other end of the spectrum or almost would be easy to live with also, but this eldo might be a nice bike for a good while until I can get something like those. I don't get how some people only like a certain kind of bike I like all kinds of bikes for different reasons, the KTM would be a great solo bike to own for around town and some light touring if I sold my RSVR, the rocket 3 would be a nice long haul machine to compliment my RSVR, I also like some BMW's and harleys but each has a wonderful turn me off to the brand crowd associated with them. you know what none of that is really important what do you think would it be a good or bad trade on my end?
  4. thats exactly how I describe them to ppl, like a muscle car V8, I went on a ride with a bunch of harleys and you couldn't even hear my goose so keep that in mind, they're not LOUD LOUD, just a nice loud.
  5. did you buy it new? sounds like aftermarket refirb or something, I have never seen a pic of a seat like that on a stock Cafe
  6. K&N pod filters, mount right up easy, there are several threads about it on the forum as I don't remember the exact part number, my side covers were starting to get cracks in them anyway as that area seems to get a lot of vibes and they're held on with like 2 screws? anyway I like the open exposed shock look.
  7. They are top quality crap, I really like them, have had them on my Guzzi for 4 years? with no fading even, the sound is deeper than the MG TI kit and well made virtually same quality as mistral but at the time was like $400 cheaper for me to get no idea how the prices are now, also look into their stucci x-over clone, well worth it.
  8. NEVERMIND, evotech helped me out, it was that side hole that needed to be plugged it was allowing gas to bypass the seal, it was also supposed to be supplied with one but wasn't in my kit, which I don't care, ace hardware had a nice hex head metric screw to plug it up for .60c, now she's tighter than a nun and hotter than lindsay lohan
  9. OK, I took some pictures for comparison and I think the culprit lies on the tabbed area of the gasket, which will be soooo much fun to make a new gasket for it, I have to think the reason the yoyodyne one works is because it lacks this tab area and uses its own gasket to make a good seal also why is the new OEM gasket I ordered slighty diff with that odd loop on the bottom?? I have contacted evotech directly and I hope they have some ideas, not sure how I would make a gasket to fill in the recessed area and make a good seal, maybe if I was an engineer or just handier with gasket material and fabrication
  10. yeah pretty sure thats half of how the stock one works so well, but I've seen plenty well not plenty just a few aftermarket ones that don't have that setup with no leaks, I think I will have to make a gasket yay me, swimming into uncharted waters for myself now, I should have just got the yoyodyne cap the dealer recommended.
  11. well this is the mounting hole the actual stock gasket is in the pictures the only small difference is the actual oem stock one doesn't have that second loop on the bottom but otherwise is the same and neither seal up the fuel cap, the stock one works fine and seals up nice even after reinstalling it 3 times now I will try and get some pics up soon of the stocker exactly
  12. SO I got a evotech rapid cap for my Aprilia, I know not guzzi related but I know most of you are engineers by trade or hobby so I know of no better place to ask, the thing looks really awesome and works really well(the open close action of it. Thing is it leaks like a sieve from around the outside of the cap, says it uses the stock gasket and venting as to be easy to install, well I even ordered a new stock gasket and it leaked WORSE, I'll get to posting some pics to see if anyone can help me with my problem, I don't even know where to begin to fix this thing and I was told by AF1 to just get the yoyodyne, found out afterwards they've tried a few and had no luck with the evotech but yoyodyne was great, too bad it only comes in black and I have a silver/red bike, I did contact yoyodyne and they said they could get silver but would take a month or more might still do that but damn it this thing was more expensive and came in the look I wanted and yeah just because its pretty doesn't mean it works right the reasons are the aprilia as a tiny fuel opening which is a bich at fuel ups, I also don't care if it locks half the bikes on the road don't have locking fuel caps I'm not worried and it looks cool. If anyone can give me some solid help I will give you beer
  13. I HAVE, love them, so so good, well made, vibes go from about a 7 to a 3, you'll notice the pegs vibe more than the bars.
  14. That is awesome, and very gentlemanly of you I'm putting that in the fail thread under WINS on the aprilia forum
  15. I would consider that but I hate being a test mule for new engines, I don't have the patience or the pocket book
  16. Maybe not their dirt bikes I don't know but I was told the LC8 is made by Rotax which is the single most reliable motorcycle engine manufacturer on the planet I also agree the adv tin bags are way too big for my needs
  17. I can't believe someone would do that to a Guzzi, on a more positive note my wife likes the KTM, will have to give it a closer look in person
  18. THAT is what has me sold, and I'm fine with the small bags as I never take much and I'd get a tail bag as well plus I have a backpack but I don't want a big wonky bike for mostly city travel with a trip once or twice a year
  19. Well the Adv doesn't really light my fire plus the boxes for it are overkill, I'll give it a look when I'm able to go down and take a look at them but I also don't plan to drive to Alaska just around the state, tri-state area at most, I would think a better seat or maybe sheep skin and a larger windscreen on the SMT would solve that area
  20. THAT right there makes me like them even more, The BMW dealer by me was the same way but I hate how some dealers and brands just try and push it on you and won't let you ride them, puts me right off.
  21. I LIKE ALLLL kinda of bikes, trust me its like women I like brunettes but I LOVE redheads so just give me a little slack if I could I'd have a nice guzzi and 2 other bikes in rotation from year to year or a garage FULL of'em I also like the BMW 1200GS but the price is nearly double in similar setup(at min 5k more) over the SM-T unless you meant the KTM adv which is only like $1k more. I wonder if I could get a bigger screen and I can't buy it this summer but I need goals, hell it took me 3 years to pull the trigger on the guzzi and I've had her 7 years now, started looking at aprilias when I was in high school back in 99 and didn't get one till 2008, I'm not a snap bike purchasing individual
  22. you god damned fellow traitor, wtf is it with guzzi guys buying Aprilias?
  23. what do you think? KTM Supermoto T 990 soft bags, nice fairing, 5 gallon tank, super reliable engine, and minimalist while being very utilitarian, yet attractive IMO, what do you think? thoughts? insight? experience?
  24. DAMNIT those are awesome, wtf red framed bikes, get a mounting hole!!! I look at the case and I swear there is no way to mount up anything for my bike at all, would take a genius to figure that one out with like a spacer in the oil pan which would add a mounting point to the damn thing
