  1. RossoPuro has a really cool set of shifter & brake pedals. But that might be a little much right now considering the u.s. dollar is like monopoly money. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Moto-Guzzi-...sQ5fAccessories One valve cover here on ebay
  2. Have the battery checked at an auto store. As my battery got old the bike would still crank and start but it did take longer. If its not the battery then all the other posts have good advice to follow.
  3. I'm with Gavo here. I have a Rosso Mandello also, it has the 4.5 rim and I switched to a 160 rear tire and wont go back to a 170 (unless I get a really good deal!). I think the bike handles a little better with the 160. Being cheaper helps to offset the mounting price.
  4. I think that its very well done. Is that a radiator mounted under the tailpiece? If that is a liquid cooled 120 plus hp Guzzi with a modern state of the art suspension and electronics I have to say that I'm fascinated with it. To think what it would be like to climb off my v11 & get on that thing for a ride.. Well if that is a radiator under there its a very pretty design, but I wonder how hot that would make your ass in traffic on a summer day? I suppose there are lots of good insulating materials that could be used to help that problem. If thats where the next generation of Guzzi is heading I think they will start to prosper. Imo that is as good looking a bike as I have ever seen...even better than the mgs01.
  5. Well Ratchet if you want a better apples to apples comparison, try putting the stock crossover back on and switch to pod filters. Then put the ferracci cans on and see if you notice a difference. I do agree that it "sounds" like it runs better too. Of course I know theres as much chance of you using a pod filter as the sun rising in the west! As you always like to say YMMV.
  6. I just got a set of fast by ferracci carbon fiber cans and it made a huge difference in the way the bike runs. I cant say one can is better than the other, only having tried the ferracci. BUT...I can definitely say the bike runs a hell of a lot better once its uncorked at both ends. Whatever can you end up choosing I'd bet you'll find the bike to be a hell of a lot more fun to ride. You can keep an eye on ebay for a used set of cans and just have a pipe bent to fit between the can and the crossover.
  7. The suzuki V Strom is probably the perfect bike for what you want Ben. Although as has been mentioned before...it is rather "aesthetically challenged" Its huge, very comfortable, utterly reliable, fuel efficient AND cheap. Just go to your local dealer and sit on one, you'll see what I mean.
  8. Hey I'm not laughing at you at all! I used probably the same stuff on my rear drive, although I bought it at Walmart instead of Lowes. Later in the year I bought black textured paint at an autozone parts store and I like the high heat engine black crinkle paint better than the harware texture black. I cant see any reason to spend the extra money for a paint can with a harley logo on it.
  9. I bought some high heat black wrinkle paint at an auto parts store for less than $10. I also got some clear and did the valve covers with it. It turned out great and I highly recomend you try it out. If you dont like it just strip it off & try something else. If the weather over there is like it is here in Ohio you'll have all winter to experiment with paint.
  10. I agree, that is a great bike. You can get that same engine in the V Strom too if you want something even more long haul oriented. Althought the V Strom probably is the worlds ugliest bike!
  11. I wonder whats going to happen to that new sportbike engine they just shelled out all that r&d on? Do you suppose someone will buy the thing and try to start a new brand?
  12. I'll bet if most of the people in here were given a chance to ride one, I bet they would not want to give it back. What a bike looks like really doesnt matter a whole lot once you're on top of it & rolling down the road. The thing about a Honda is that they just plain work. However.. one major drawback of owning a bike like that is I would be afraid to do anything much more than change the oil in it.
  13. Call me crazy but I like it. It has a huge v4 engine, is probably highly reliable & comfortable. I would have to see it in a showroom to have a better opinion of its looks but that pic aint bad. I did see a new cbr1000r in silver & black that to me looks as good as a new Ducati. This v4 seems to have the same front end as that. The one thing the Japanese are getting better at is leaving off all those cheesy stupid fkng stickers from the bodywork.
  14. From what I've been told it was a bad tappet problem. If you buy a new Stelvio just make sure that the tappets have been replaced & you should be a happy camper. The only people that had problems were the very first owners that bought the bikes & rode them before the problem was discovered.
  15. Did you check the rubber throttle body intake sleeves? Those are prone to cracking & letting in extra air, thus ruining your day.
  16. You will probably need to have your tps adjusted to add more fuel to the mix. Thats all I did & my bike runs fine. There are lots of other mapping options if you want to chase perfection though.
  17. I have an idea. If you adjusted your shift linkage too much its probably banging against the frame when you try to upshift. Get on your knees and move the shift lever by hand and look to see if the linkage is striking the frame. If it is then you just have to back it off a few turns & you're good to go.
  18. I would just want to make sure the bike hasnt had a major accident. Most all the other problems these bikes have are minor. I have about 35k on my 01' Rosso without much trouble at all. Matter of fact I just slipped some FBF carbon pipes on it & it runs better now than it ever has. The maintenance what I call "trinity" for a v11 is tb balance, tps, & valve setting. Once you learn how to get that right its gravy.
  19. Could you remove the exhaust at the heads and drop it down & out leaving the crossover on? Once its off the bike you could probably get the crossover off easier. The other thought is to spray some wd40 into the fitting of the head pipe & the crossover pipe. That might make it a little easier to come off. The other issue is not something I know about as it I have the red frame type.
  20. Arent you going to get that new Aprilia rsv v4 Ben? I figured your old one would be feeling a little slow after reading the reviews of the new one
  21. My engine coating looks just fine, none of those problems here. After 34k if it aint coming off yet it never will. Have you ever heard of a clutch going bad in a Rosso? I havent yet. If it did go bad I have a replacement kit brand new in the box ready to go The frames probably are the same and I have a regular chin pad.
  22. Here is a more blacked out version of Ben's bike
