  1. My bike can peg the speedo if I'm going on a downhill slope. On a level surface it will get right around the 140 mark. When you think about it thats pretty damn fast for a 500lb 80 hp bike.
  2. If your sidecovers have a flag on them your bike is probably one of the later 300 un numbered bikes. Yes you can use the vin number to tell if it is one of the original 300 bikes and if so which number.

    Stelvio

I havent ridden the Strevio yet, but I have sat on one a few times and really like the way it feels. I think its a sharp looking bike too .. the led taillights look cool, lots of Italian style, big bike attitude. Probably too big for my 5'8 height around town but out on the open road I bet it rocks.
  4. My Vaglia starts at 500 too so I had my dealer hook it up to his Guzzi computer. It doesnt affect the rest of the clock, I guess thats just where the needle stops at the bottom. But once you start it up its relatively accurate.
  5. 3200rpm in 6th gear is roughly 60mph
  6. Does Moto Guzzi make a snow thrower? I have a pretty good pile around my driveway, but I have to admit it...yours is bigger.
  7. I dont know if this idea is practical where you live or not, but you can have your starter rebuilt. There are starter/alternator shops in most cities in the u.s., but I have no idea about Greece. A good shop can probably make your starter better than new.
  8. I've heard of children sticking their fingers into dykes over there, but for someone to shove a whole motorcycle in there!
  9. I thought that the v11 motor was a cast iron block? Or do the cylinders have aluminum sleeves? I remember something about them being coated with nikasil or something, but its been a long time. I do agree that oven cleaner is probably not a good idea though.
  10. I noticed a recent picture from a forum member with a Scura that had the rims and valve covers powder coated in the candy red Rosso Mandello color. At least I'm pretty sure it was powder coating. I think it was posted in the pics thread and they look perfect. I believe he had the stock rims but since powder coating involves baking the powder at 400 degrees f. I dont think you should have any problems with your forged rims.
  11. Oh a fly screen like the one on my Rosso or the various other v11 sports does a great job of deflecting wind. I was talking about going completely without any screen or fairing at all. I like the look of the bare headlight and the extra wind is fine for around town and the shorter trips. Its just on the freeway where you really want some sort of screen in front of you.
  12. They look pretty cool when you take the fairing off and set it up as a naked bike. You'll like the ride too...until you get up to speeds over about 60 or 70 mph. Then you'll be putting the fairing back on.
  13. Thats definitely a guzzi exhaust in the clip you posted. Whether it makes it to the actual movie is another kettle o' fish
  14. If you buy a TwinMax it will make balancing your tb's a lot easier. They're less than $100. Just google twinmax and you should get all the info.
  15. If its weeping that probably just means its working. Thats a good thing because you wouldnt want pressure to build up in there and wear out the inner seals early. I think a good annual maintenance should include a thorough cleaning of the top rear drive vent.
  16. I think that is a German product. I cant remember the maker though. I'm sure that within a few days or hours someone will tell you exactly who makes it.
  17. That picture of Jaap was probably taken in Cuba. Its like paradise on earth down there but for some reason Americans still cant visit.
  18. I have a feeling that Jesus Christ himself could come back and declare global warming a hoax and it wouldnt move the Al Gore kool aid drinkers. It seems to me that climate change is just a means for governments to gain more control over their respective populations. They also would have you believe that if you just pay a whole lot more taxes it will make the planet cool down. OR at least alleviate your guilty conscience, if you're a bleeding heart liberal with 4 kids, an suv or two and a huge carbon spewing lifestyle.
  19. Yes its true that a red frame v11 seat wont fit a Lemans or black frame bike and vice versa. But anything after 02 should fit a Ballabio.
  20. Have you first removed the cover for the shift linkage and inspected the springs and the gear mechanisms inside? It might just be a shifter mechanism problem rather than a transmission problem. Its worth having a look before you pull the transmission out. After re reading your post I believe I misunderstood what you meant when you said gearbox. I was thinking you meant transmission. Anyway if you have the cover off, manually turn the gears from first to sixth back and forth. If you have trouble moving the gears by hand its not your transmision causing the trouble.
  21. Very good job! I'm surprised that the color is coming back so well. Btw if you remove the shifter pedal, footpeg and the rear brake master cylinder bracket your work will go a lot faster and easier. It cant be fun trying to polish around all that stuff.
  22. I could start by saying that its completely unnecessary, even dumb to drill holes in your cush drive pucks! If that doesnt get it I could always point out that global warming has now been PROVEN to be a fraud by the very people who were trying to impose their junk science upon us.
  23. Maybe the guy was just tired of his hardwood floor & decided to carpet it. Thats a good sort of practical joke for the homes next owner. Could you imagine pulling up the old carpet & finding that?
